All the Bjork fans are already enchanted by the St. Vincent. It'll take a while to move on.

In the interest in causing a Screltdown, I'll point out that they thanked Ashley Christensen.

She doesn't really bother me anymore. I have limited contact with people who would constantly yelp about her; pun intended, clearly...

Mastodon's video for "Curl of the Burl"

I didn't know what the song was about to start with but I read their explanation and it helps explain the video

Quote :
"The burl is the knot that’s found in various trees — it’s almost like a cancer of trees. Within that burl are unique swirls or curls. A lot of people will cut those down and sell them to wood-makers, wood sculptors, and furniture makers because it’s got a unique design to it. And this is a true story which happens in the Pacific Northwest — a lot of people go out in the woods with chainsaws, they find these burls, they cut them down, they load their pickup trucks with these burls, take them in to town sell them to various wood-makers, take the money from that, purchase more meth, go back in the woods and continue that circle of insanity. So it’s based on a true story. People will steal your cars, steal copper…and people will go out there in the woods and steal burls.

- Troy Sanders "

It's different than the On Avery Island version. Still, the original version of the article made it seem like they didn't know that song existed before.

speaking of unreleased stuff, the smashing pumpkins' gish and siamese dream were remastered by bob ludwig and are being re-released on 11/29 with a whole bunch of unreleased or alternate versions of old songs from those eras as well as two DVDs of shows from 1990 and 1992. unfortunately you have to buy the CD or digital versions of the albums to get the cool unreleased material, though. might pick up gish on vinyl. not sure how much better a remastered siamese dream would be than the one i already have.

^yeah I'm trying to decide on what to get from the choices. you can get the 2nd disc stuff without buying the CDs, if you buy the deluxe download version, but that's not for me. plus I want the dvds (which are from 1990 and 1993, but close enough)

i have both of the original vinyls, and i agree that the Gish quality improvement might be worth it.

kind of curious as to what the "starla (2011 mix)" is all about since "starla" is one of my favorite pumpkins songs, but i'm sure all the stuff will end up on what.cd anyway. that'd be pretty sweet if they release the last pumpkins show with all the original members (minus d'arcy) on DVD in 2013 when machina I and II get the rerelease treatment.

^ yeh, I really enjoyed watching her perform. That said, I'd be much more concerned had she been an integral part of writing and recording. It's a lot easier to replace an integral part of the stage performance than it is to replace an integral part of the writing/ recording team.

There have been at least fifteen people in that band. Amy was awesome, but they were amazing before her and they'll be amazing after her.
