Watching the UNC and GT game,

our rush defense better get ready to man up b/c those fuckers down in Atlanta are putting up 300 yards on the ground against Carolina right now, but atleast we'll have a shit load longer time to prepare for GT and that god damn triple option.

Ive never seen a team run the ball so freaking much..thank GOD for having Manning, Cole, and Irving b/c they are going to get alot of work next Sat!

GO PACK!

just rewatched this game. Cincy's line play looked bad. All three opponents thus far do not represent the kind of challenge we'll see from key opponents going forward (GT, VT, FSU, Clemson, UNC)

Thats been pretty much my take.

Its great to see RW shake the 'rust' off and the defense show some fire but UC was not the challenge we were expecting.

How we do against GT on Saturday will give us our first good measure of our improvement or lack thereof.

yes, but they almost let a one-handed UNC beat them. Not as worried about GT/UNC.

VT, FSU, and Clemson will be the real tests - not to mention we need to take care of the real Atlantic division competition first and foremost (FSU/Clem).

When was the last time we played a competitive game against clemson? yea, I thought so...

Our LBs are going to need to have huge games for us to beat GT. I seriously doubt we'll really slow down GT, but hopefully RW and the offense can keep us in the game, maybe steal a W somehow.

The key to beating GT is you have to play your assignment every down. You miss the assignment and it could equal a TD or a very big gain.

The key to beating GT is clipping a bitch in the end zone for an interception to seal the deal.

Yeah the reason the option works well is because not a lot of teams run it and if you arent prepared it can be deadly. If everyone is on the same page on defense and follows their assignments you will constantly be putting them in 3rd and long passing situations and that is right where you want that team.

^^UNC had two weeks to prepare and the only times they "stopped" GT was when GT threw the ball on the turf. Also, GT is just as likely to run on third and long as they are to pass. I know this isn't the same personnell but the fact that we had issues with Wofford's (I think it was Wofford anyway) triple option three or four years ago desn't inspire confidence in me that we'll handle it well against a team with real athletes.

UNC had two weeks to prepare for them two years ago and completely destroyed them, the difference being they were missing 12 players this time. GT has ball security problems, and their defense has been less than impressive.

This, and praying for a few turnovers. GT's running game looked downright unstoppable against a really good UNC linebacker core. Where UNC got burned was their secondary play -- our corners need to squeeze everything inside and our safeties HAVE to tackle well in the open field. Bishop looks like he's really improved here ... we'll see Saturday.

This would have been a good headline

Three's are lucky for Wolfpack

In the 3rd game of his 3rd season as the starter, Wilson threw for 333 yards and 3 touchdowns to help lead the Wolfpack to its 3rd win of the season. Wilson bounced back strong to triple his production from the last game: only ~100 passing yards and one touchdown.

Another fun nugget: Kicker Josh Czajkowski kicked a FG to add 3 points during the 3rd quarter of play. It was the only points scored for either team during that quarter.

courtesy of foxsports. Our portion of this weeks ACC report card

Quote :
"N.C. State – Defense was a bad word in Raleigh last season, but three games into the 2010 campaign, and the gang on that side of the ball have generated plenty of buzz for the Wolfpack, exemplified in a 30-19 win over Cincinnati that wasn’t nearly as close as the score indicates. Five sacks, a turnover, and plenty of forced throws worked in State’s favor. Add Russell Wilson’s 333 passing yards, and the Pack is 3-0 for the first time since 2002. Grade: A."

I love how many times they've mentioned us this game. The last time they mentioned us, it was even in terms of being one of the "daunting" teams that they play. These ESPN games have been a great boost to the program's national identity.
