yeah, any talk about what Ben will or won't remember is pure speculation at this point. We really have no idea what Richard meant by that, or what interaction Ben will have with the Losties from now on. Or even if he did somehow lose his memory, if he still has residual memories or flashes, like Julliet's face.
4/2/2009 11:30:12 PM
there are obviously things he remembers from childhood because we know he remembers when annie gave him the corn doll on his birthday. He also remembers getting to the island, so unless they selectively removed memories from him, then he does remember.
4/2/2009 11:31:35 PM
does he remember? or was that just a flashback to show his backstory? didn't one of you say he said he was born on the island?[Edited on April 2, 2009 at 11:35 PM. Reason : uh huh]

he still keeps it to this day, so its not a flash back, that is, unless, it takes place following his return. however, i can't imagine a kid with lost innocence being so attached to a doll.
4/2/2009 11:41:57 PM
Whatever happened to Ben in the temple is likely the same thing that happened to Rousseau's crew in the temple. They didn't have their memories wiped, but they did change. They became "sick", they were now others, not who they used to be.
4/2/2009 11:45:19 PM
^ again, i don't think there will be memory loss. more of a culture loss. ben will "forget" what it's like to be one of dharma, he'll be an other living incognito with the dharma initiative until the purge.
4/3/2009 12:09:42 AM
I didn't say there would be memory loss

I think Richard is gonna do to Ben what the Others did to the 815 survivors that they captured. Remember back in Season 3 when Kate/Sawyer were in the bear cages and I think Sawyer woke up one day and Cindy and some of the kids were watching him. He tried talking to them to figure out what was up but they were acting like nothing had happened. Perhaps it is the same procedure that the Others were trying to put Karl through when they rescued him... some kind of brainwashing thing.

^ i dont think hes going to go through any "huge dramatic amnesia episode" either, but what Richard said seems to suggest to me that he is going to forget something. Maybe just the shooting, or the fact that Sayid did it (which would make sense and help clear up the "plot hole" that Hurley brought up to Miles)

I'm not sure Hurley introduced a plot-hole at all. We don't know whether or not Ben recognized Sayid or not. We just know that Hurley seems to think Ben did not recognize him or anyone else. It may have just been in his best interest to not tell the survivors that he met all of them 30 yrs ago. They probably wouldn't have believed him if he had and who knows what other reasons there may have been/will be.Hurley was just a surrogate dumbass for all of the viewers who don't realize that even though the survivors are in the past of the DI/others/island, it's still their personal present>future and everything that goes along with that.
4/3/2009 3:54:43 PM
Well at the beginning of the season when it showed him with the construction crew, were they building the Swan station? Because if so, Daniel can't be too far away since Redzinsky was working on the plans for it.
4/3/2009 4:12:44 PM
it looked like he was beginning to have a total mental breakdown.also, i read up on spoilers for the end of the season, and holy shit you guys! i'm planning on watching with a change of underwear.

Just caught up with this week's episode. Really good. I liked the part with Hurley and the other guy discussing the time travel paradoxes.

I just finished re-watching the Kate/Cassidy episode from Season 3. Then I re-watched the first flashback from this last episode. I'm still very confused about what went down. I'm probably making a bigger deal of it than I should, but I don't like how they handled that scene at all. Kate knew that she was going to visit Sawyer's ex/baby's mama, but did she know that it was the same woman that was her friend? Because there was no surprise on her face at all when she opened the door. It was obvious that Cassidy and Kate hadn't talked since she returned, so don't you think Cassidy would have been more surprised that her long lost friend Kate who was now a celebrity of sorts just so happened to be bringing a gift from the father of her child who just so happened to be on the same plane as Kate? Did Cassidy even know Sawyer's real name? If not, she wouldn't have even known that "James Ford" was one of the people that "died" on 815 in the first place. I guess I was just looking for a little bit more shock from Cassidy and/or Kate when they each made that massive connection. Both realizations were just glanced over as if it was no big deal at all. I guess it's nitpicky, but that's one of the things that Lost usually is so good about doing. I think this time they really screwed it up.

El Nacho, I thought there was another episode or flashback where we saw kate and cassidy in a bar somewhere discussing how cassidy had been conned by some man ...and for some reason, i thought she said sawyer... kate probably made the connection later on the island...was that the same episode or am i thinking about a different one?
4/4/2009 9:07:36 PM
that is the same episode where they first meet, isn't it?i'm assuming since kate knows sawyer's real name, she could just do a google search.
4/4/2009 9:25:27 PM
^^No, like I said, I just watched that episode, they never mention sawyer's name (and this was pre-island, so Kate didn't know Sawyer then). So unless Sawyer and Kate had a conversation on the island that we didn't get to see, there's no way Kate knew that her friend Cassidy was Sawyer's ex.^A google search of what? What are you talking about?
4/4/2009 9:30:57 PM
you know. google sawyer's name, see if his myspace or facebook comes up or whatever.
4/4/2009 9:32:26 PM
I still don't see what you think she'd be looking for.
4/4/2009 9:36:23 PM
i have totally been kidding.
4/4/2009 9:37:25 PM
I was talking to a friend and we were wondering who's still alive from the tail section. The only one we could think of was Bernard.
4/4/2009 9:37:37 PM
^^ah. I see. On the Big Business list you go then.^Yeah, Bernard's the only one. Unless you count the kids and Cindy. And, we're not really even sure that Bernard is still alive for that matter.]

4/4/2009 9:39:43 PM
i enjoy having a discussion about the show, too. what's your deal? is no one allowed to joke in this thread?
4/4/2009 9:41:19 PM
There are jokes (which usually tend to be funny, by the way) and then there is derailing semi-serious discussions with mindless idiocy (a.k.a. every post ever made by Big Business) The former is fine. The latter isn't wanted.
4/4/2009 9:44:28 PM
I took it that Kate made the Cassidy-Sawyer connection before knocking on the door. She was probably shocked like fuck when she found out. Cassidy likewise was blown away when Kate told her why she was there. They didn't show these reactions on camera because there really wasn't any reason too.
4/4/2009 11:17:57 PM
the north korea rocket will be sent back in time when it passes over the island!
4/4/2009 11:18:32 PM
I don't want to look it up but dweedle's post reminded me of something. Why the fuck did the doctor from the freighter wash up on shore before he was killed?
4/4/2009 11:20:10 PM
yeah, and at the end of last season they were doing some other funky time-stuff like when they shot the missile into the island and Farraday calculated it should take 3 minutes, but it took 30. At that point, it was pretty clear that the island was in some kind of time-bubble or something, but they never followed up on that this season when, instead, the whole island just started skipping through time

i wish the Lost twitter feed didn't give a hint about what this week's show would be about...it was vague but it would have been a nice surprise in general. or maybe they talked about it in the "next week on Lost" after last weeks show (i never watch that)

First, I want to see more of Richard.Has anybody else gone back and watched the Henry Gale episode from season 2? It seemed like something was up between Sayid and Ben...but with Lost, you never really know.Another question...why was Lapidus supposed to fly Oceanic Fligh 815? Remember when he calls the TV Station, and says that he was supposed to fly Oceanic 815? Why is this dude always flying back to the island? Who is he?[Edited on April 6, 2009 at 12:15 PM. Reason : *lapidus]
4/6/2009 12:13:05 PM
yeah in retrospect i remember that episode being a little strange, but there wasn't really an explanation for it or really a reason for them to do that early. Leaving hints back that far would've been cheesy and i don't think they would've done that, i saw it more as a 'literary technique' as lostpedia would probably say.I'm Big Business and i approved this message.
