$150? try like $240I bought mine from there for $119 and one week later they doubled in price
11/19/2008 11:22:35 PM
Shit.I'm glad I thought ahead BTW, my friend ordered a basic carbine upper from Model 1 sales (wouldn't recommend them. delton is better) and they told him it would be 12-18 weeks for delivery. I imagine Del-Ton would be similar.[Edited on November 19, 2008 at 11:35 PM. Reason : ]

damn I really got mine at the right timefriday after the election I picked up 2 AR-15 lowers and 1 AR-10 lower from PDHSC for normal prices, the next week I got my RRA upper and my Armalite AR-10 upper for basically normal prices as well along with my parts kits. Not to mention the hi-cap mag purchase I made before the election.I could have probably made a good $600 profit if I had just sold all the lowers I bought...problem is I want an AR-10 and an AR-15
11/20/2008 12:18:00 AM
Del-ton is about 6 or 7 weeks right now.
11/20/2008 6:59:30 AM
Yeah, im not so worried about thier backorder time frame, they seem like a good company from everything I read on AR15.com, so I'll probably order from them regardless of backorder status. They also sell stripped lowers for $100, so I fired off an email to them asking if they had any estimate on getting those in stock. Theres a gun show here in Charleston in a week or so, im gonna hit that up and see what I can make off with.
11/20/2008 8:48:06 AM
I wouldnt bother to ask when they are getting them in, just go ahead and back order everything you want. they will send it when they get it.
11/20/2008 8:53:42 AM
Well, with a stripped lower, my FFL guy has to be expecting it since i dont live in NC.Im going to go ahead and order my parts kit, and worry about the stripped lower later. Want to check at the gun show and see if i can pick one up for <$150 at the show.
11/20/2008 10:10:13 AM
Good luck, but that's very wishful thinking considering that gun shows are typically higher than average. You probably should place an order with Del-Ton for everything you want to build with, and you'll get it as soon as they get it in stock. Their lowers are still some of the most reasonably priced out there since they didn't double their prices overnight like *some* retailers...Just tell them to let you know when your lower is about to ship and you can give a call to your local FFL.
11/20/2008 12:19:06 PM
I've got a Model 1 upper, no complaints
11/20/2008 2:02:07 PM
I listed some lowers on gunbroker earlier this evening and damn, people are going after them.
11/20/2008 10:35:04 PM
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27706201/ccw on campus, time for a poll skew!
11/20/2008 10:38:36 PM
It is already skewed as it has been posted on every gun forum known. Last time I checked it was 76% for.
11/20/2008 11:13:47 PM
lol 79% for and 21% against.
11/21/2008 7:03:24 AM
I hit that poll earlier and discussed it a bit, but we'll take all the help we can get. Apparently some folks still think that CCW-ers turn into gunslinging cowboys once they step on campus even though we're otherwise rational and discreet about it everywhere else we go.The poll is also purposely biased in it's questioning by making the "no" option dependent upon the completely stupid and irrational assumption that LEO's are going to walk into a gunfight unaware of who the bad guy is. Pretty much all CCW-related defensive incidents last less than 10 seconds, and the cops show up long after they're over because the assailant has been shot or fled the scene. Contrast that with most school-related incidents where the cops show up after it's long over, but only to tag bodies and call on the coroner because the shooter left a trail of victims.Which is more dangerous in reality?
11/21/2008 11:50:51 AM
There's never been an ounce of rationality when it comes to the fear-mongering emotion-driven logic of 'gun-free' zones
11/21/2008 1:48:47 PM
ok- a lil off topic, but I'm going to the gun show tomorrow, and I wanted to know if anyone had some booths in particular that I should check out. I'm bringing my permits with me, as well as some cash and my check book/check cardand when is everyone else heading out there?also, what is the better day to head out there?[Edited on November 21, 2008 at 4:30 PM. Best deals are normally found on sunday afternoon. With the current craze you probably have to go saturday to find anything.
11/21/2008 4:51:30 PM
i mean, I have a good idea of what I want and the prices i'm willing to pay for them (which would be a little less than I would pay out of a case somewhere)
11/21/2008 6:57:20 PM
Then save your time and admission fee, funshow prices are notoriously high, and since BO got elected everyone has been buying like hell, compounding the problem.
11/21/2008 9:17:11 PM
i know for a fact that there will be at least some deals there- have a list with over 20 things I would like to find, so if I can't find anything, I will report back... but I highly doubt that will be the caseps, you are the first person I have heard to say this
11/22/2008 7:39:01 AM
There was at least one decent deal as I walked out with another gun.
11/22/2008 4:28:57 PM
I bought Georgia arms 9mm for $10 per 50, .40 for $12 per 50. I bought all they had at the gun show. I also grabbed 500 rounds of .223 for $170. But I cleaned out that booth.
11/22/2008 6:55:31 PM
I'm thinking about heading up to Anniston, Alabama to look at the CMP store. Who here knows a lot about M-1 Garands and M-1 Carbines?
11/22/2008 9:22:50 PM
Someone came through with a stag arms lower for me yesterday, now I am just waiting on my del-ton order to be filled.Where do you guys normally get your 5.56 ammo?
11/23/2008 10:20:40 AM
yeah- i saw some good dealsthere were some not so good ones, but definately some good onesi picked up a taurus 24/7 9mmand about got a p22 w/ laser
11/23/2008 4:08:46 PM
anyone have a Remington 870 forend wrench for sale/rent/use?
11/24/2008 6:36:01 PM
went to the gun show on sat and the line was crazy long, so decided not to wait in the line so I went back home. did I miss out on some baller pistol deals or no? (in the market for a pistol)
11/24/2008 8:18:37 PM
One line was twice as long as the distance from the ticket booth to the turkey shoot. What everyone didn't realize was there are two lines. The second line was shorter than the breezeway... BTW, one vendor is a mil spec ammo contractor. They were selling 50 rounds of 223 55gr soft points for $10.25.I can't reload them for much less.Unfortunately when I saw it they only had one bag left.
11/24/2008 8:23:34 PM
I got there about 10:00 and was in line for like 5-10 minutes.
11/24/2008 8:29:27 PM
Who was the vendor? The gun show is here in Charleston this coming weekend. Im gonna try to hit someone up for a decent amount of ammo.
11/24/2008 8:59:54 PM
gun show in charlotte this weekend.
11/24/2008 9:01:58 PM
damn, should've waited in line. I saw the line that went down past teh turkey shoot.
11/24/2008 9:25:50 PM
^^^Armor.I looked at the packaging and said "wtf, Armor - Ammunition Manufacturer? Can you get any more generic?"I have yet to shoot any, but it's loaded in new WCC brass.Unfortunately it's crimped, so you gotta deal with that to relead.
11/24/2008 10:03:26 PM
Can any of you gunsmiths tell me how difficult it would be to convert a vz58 from f/a to semi-auto?
11/24/2008 10:25:06 PM
^why would you do that?Sell it and buy 10 semi autos....[Edited on November 25, 2008 at 12:30 AM. Reason : k]
11/25/2008 12:30:05 AM
I wish that i could do that. The company that I work for in Slovakia has access to f/a vz58s directly from military stockpiles. They cost us around $20 each. However, for some applications, we require s/a and they run around $300-400 each. This is why im looking for a cheaper/simpler way to do the conversion ourselves. Although this will likely be moot when we get a full time gunsmith early next year.
11/25/2008 12:47:10 AM
Roommate just got this. Sweet gun.
11/27/2008 1:09:14 PM
i'm not sure if i like the barrel and under rail combo therewho makes that piece?

11/27/2008 1:59:39 PM
i'd like to see what it would look like if he put a laser or a light (or some sort of combo) on the under rail... that might take away the aesthetic quality that I'm not likingnow that i checked out that article, they have a picture of one with a light, and it looks goodhow expensive and hard to find is that ammo it takes?[Edited on November 27, 2008 at 2:21 PM. i don't care for it, unless i actually needed to defeat a flak vest with a pistol.
11/27/2008 2:38:09 PM
From everything I've heard, the ballistics of that round aren't that great. But I'm not going to be the test dummy.
11/27/2008 4:21:50 PM
I'm thinking about getting a 3.5" chambered, 12 gauge Wingmaster when I get back stateside.
11/27/2008 5:47:07 PM
^^^^^There was one that went ka-boom, supposedly it fired out of battery. I think there was a thread on it here if not youtube has some vids if i recall.

i'm going to georgia for christmas, and i may bring some of my my pistols down with me- what steps do i need to take in order to make this legal
11/27/2008 9:02:24 PM
Truck? Car? Concealed weapons permit? Guncase?Probably the easiest way with lowest chance of getting hassled if pulled over is locked in gun cases, unloaded, in the trunk. Do a few google searches of transportation of firearms for each state you pass through. Each state has different laws and guidelines to follow.
11/27/2008 11:06:14 PM
i have a truck, no CCP (although, that won't be the case for long... just won't have it for this trip), and I don't feel comfortable leaving it in the bed of my truck (=trunk) for a trip like that
