8/7/2007 5:18:28 PM
up ~5% in AH trading
8/7/2007 5:22:35 PM
its funny cause i dont think this quarter has been significantly better than recent past quarters...but a 5% bump in after hours...and the next quarter is supposed to be the weakest...crazy market
8/7/2007 5:39:34 PM
yeah, last quarter we beat by 2c and projected higher growth than we had in a while, and immediately dropped a buck. it's a mad mad mad mad world.
8/7/2007 7:44:44 PM
I guess the headline of 25% earnings growth is whats getting everyone...I admit, quite a nice number for a company of our size.... Heres to hitting 38 by years end ***
8/7/2007 8:42:46 PM
glad i monetized my LEAP a long time ago. its taking a beating
8/8/2007 10:00:34 AM
8/8/2007 1:59:13 PM

8/8/2007 8:32:10 PM
^^the bull is back?orgot the bull by the balls?orthe bull is going away?(the 3rd is the one I would think you'd mean, but I'd be a little surprised at that statement)
8/8/2007 8:36:12 PM
the bull kind of ran past us...
8/8/2007 8:50:53 PM
I had a surprisingly good day today...almost back up to where I was before I lost a bunch...
8/8/2007 9:11:46 PM
^^ haha, yeah, i was waiting for the bottom, then blinked and saw nothing but bull balls.^ yeah, i was up ~3% for a while today. think i was up about 2% for the day at the bell.for only knowing enough to be dangerous, i'm actually doing really well. averaged 23% return on the 3 stocks i've sold since opening my scottrade account (kept 2 of them just over 1 year to go LT, and the other one was AAPL, which I kept for a couple of months). I'm also up 22-23% on the rest of my portfolio since inception, which was maybe 15 months ago (and a lot of it is stuff I've bought more recently than that).
8/9/2007 1:33:47 AM
^ that's pretty good..the longer this volatility continues, the more predictable it becomes. there's a takeoff point forming right now. its going up. don't know if it will end up.just reenterd BIDU
8/9/2007 9:58:33 AM
why are my BRIC (brazil, russia, india, china), Europe, and NA mutual funds for a total of ~$600 as compared to 1 week ago? that's about 6.5% down.papers say stock markets are down because of fears of American home prices or something?
8/9/2007 10:27:46 AM
What dictates how much the IPO sells for vs at what price the stock opens?
8/9/2007 10:53:36 AM
^ the demand for it. a bunch of people already know about and want VMWare.i just took a big position in EWZ. will try to sell in few days for gain.[Edited on August 9, 2007 at 11:35 AM. Reason : s]
8/9/2007 11:08:36 AM
Well, when is the IPO price set?
8/9/2007 11:15:45 AM
VMWare is going up on its target for the IPO ... looks like cisco and intel are going to make some good cash out of this deal, as well as secure some influence into the company.

8/9/2007 3:36:33 PM
I am afraid to check my portfolios.
8/9/2007 4:57:45 PM
likewise, haven't checked them in a week or so
8/9/2007 5:04:28 PM
that's what i did from May-July of 2006. ignored it until it came back, and i did fine.this time around i'm trying to game it, and am having some great days and some bloody ones.
8/9/2007 6:02:32 PM
With the current market volatility and the fact that the target for the VMWare IPO is shooting up, is it even a good idea to invest the first day? For some of you more seasoned traders, how much does an individual investor stand to gain or lose by going in on a stock the first day it is offered? Obviously, long term, we would expect healthy growth from VMWare, but I'd prefer not to take a bath first.[/n00b][Edited on August 9, 2007 at 9:11 PM. Reason : ]

IPOs can go either way, regardless of what the pre-open hoopla is.
8/9/2007 9:13:00 PM
I have teh cold feet now. I better stick to my boring mutual funds.
8/9/2007 10:00:06 PM

8/10/2007 11:43:54 AM
go to bloomberg.com and see the video clip of Marc Faber. he says we're entering a bear, and will be a buyer when RIMM, GOOG, and AAPL go down 30%....bailed myself out a little bit with IAU, and got back in BIDU for shits and giggles.[Edited on August 10, 2007 at 4:01 PM. Reason : ]

I bought Apple at $136 a few days ago and thought I was smart for buying after a down day. Also, I'm an idiot.[Edited on August 10, 2007 at 9:23 PM. Reason : But a patient idiot.]

YOU SUBPRIME AMERICANS FUCKED UP THE WORLD'S MARKETS
8/11/2007 1:54:52 PM
god, you're such a bitch
8/11/2007 2:33:48 PM
and you are bitching about me bitching about other people... so who is the real bitch?the one bitching about other people's actions which have affected a lot of poeple.or the one bitching about the one bitching about other people's actions which have affected a lot of people?
8/11/2007 4:45:24 PM
just a complete bitch
8/11/2007 6:06:37 PM
I'm pretty sure that OEPII1 has some sort of congenital condition whereby everything is solely the fault of Americans.
8/11/2007 6:37:22 PM
yea our stock market goes up and down, and sometimes it takes big hits which does have an effect on the rest of the world. look what america has done for the rest of the world with its economic wealth. the world would be complete shit without us... and now everytime our market takes a swing all you foreigners make a 180 and say how much you hate america and how we're shit. just wait until the economy goes up, you'll be reaping the benefits again.]
8/11/2007 6:41:16 PM
I mean, MAYBE I am hallucinating, but yesterday's/today's crash IS because of "subprime" home buyers in the US, isn't it?And I didn't say "America" nor implied "all Americans."
8/11/2007 8:43:14 PM
8/11/2007 8:46:29 PM
i said i never said or implied all americans, and i didn't. i am not stupid to blame 300 million people for something like this. as that would be impossible.in my original post you will see a qualifier before "AMERICANS". don't quote me partially!!!
8/11/2007 8:57:09 PM
ah, yes. subprime. that clearly explains it.
8/11/2007 9:09:25 PM
I don't even know what a subprime mortgage is.
