he's a 2009 recruit, along with Jordan Hamilton. if Costner and Hickson left next year that would leave a year where we'd only have McCauley and Smith. then if we could get Favors, we'd have only Smith and Favors.

Holy shit, Sid and Co. are taking it to a whole nother level. Apparently this kid is a sure fire All-American, the best player right now in the state for the 2010 classs, and potential top 10 player.

CJ is nasty.....his game has been described as Kevin Durantish....seeing as he is of similar size/build(hes got 3 inches to grow to catch up with durant, but hes only a sophomore in HS). Whats sad is that i'll never see this kid play from the student section.....oh well, still happy to have him

What are you talking about, just sneak into there like all the cool young alum do.

Seriously though, we need a section beside the student sections at the football and basketball games that is devoted solely to alumni that want to stand and raise hell all game long. Think of the Browns' Dawg Pound. They would be some of the most sought after seats, and would have a prestige to them. There are judges and other people in the Browns' Dawg Pound that you wouldn't normally think would acting a fool.

Uh oh, I see another NC target on there. Jerrell Eddie is from NC and with the recent success in NC maybe we can pull in two top 20 players? That would be an awesome start of a class that's for sure, haha.

^supposedly there was a 2010 recruit from NC with the name of Bullock or something at a camp here a few weeks back that just dominated.

Yeah I imagine there are still a lot of good players that haven't got much publicity since they're still young. But the more top players the better, and getting them from NC is a plus.

Considering Smith, Thomas, Williams, and Leslie, it seems pretty obvious that the staff has made a commitment to targeting in-state recruits.

And yet at the same time, they're going after great out-of-state guys like Hickson, Javi, Mays, and Hamilton.

I like it.

Wow. I like that we are getting top talent for yrs ahead, but I think it may be a bit premature.
I mean how are we gonna know what positions we need to fill and whos leaving, etc. two years down the road? Could cause us some scholly pains later on, but at least this kid looks like he's gonna be a baller for sure...

I think taking a chance on a guy who they say is one of the best in the state is not a bad idea...

Worse comes to worse, he'll be a decent backup.

We will always have room for a few players that wont get much PT. And that is WORSE CASE scenario.

As long as we keep these offers going out to local kids who love NCSU, I dont see a problem with it.

BeerzNBikes, we can show interest all we want but as long as we dont offer premature then we are ok

seems like to me, sid and boys are out there building up relationships. you can never go wrong there.

im sure you understand that point

Yea, I love the fact that we are going to be playing kids that are growing up in state as WolfPack fans. Wont be any problem to get them hyped up for when the Holes come to town. And as far as scholly issues go in the future, we can always send Fergie the way of the Bartosz if we need room...

If it's an advantage to be a black coach then how come it hasn't worked out for Leonard Hamilton, Tommy Amaker, etc.

UNC yes, OSU, haha, don't make me laugh. Yeah they had one great season recently, but they have hardly ever been a recent basketball powerhouse. They won only one National Championship in 1960 with the likes of Jerry Lucas, John Havlicek, and Bob Knight off the bench. I know they've been to 10 Final Fours, but look at the years in which they went to the Final Four. They are 1939, 1944, 1945, 1946, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1968, 1999, 2007. So for some 31 years prior to 1999 they weren't great like UNC who seemingly went to the Final Four every two years. And the 1999 Final Four appearance was only accomplished through some insane cheating by their former coach, and was later vacated by the NCAA. Before this year, I really wouldn't have thought much about stealing a recruit from Ohio State. OSU still has yet to show that they can stay a powerhouse. We'll see if Matta can keep them near the top of college basketball or sink back into mediocrity in the next 5 years.

The advantage is in recruiting, not coaching. Don't ascribe your idiotic leaps of logic to me.

thats not gonna happen. If youve been paying any attention to OSU/Matta's recruiting over the last couple of years, but their recruiting classes are stacked for years to come. Last years class was ridiculous, this years will be great, and Matta has locked up top tier recruits in every class until 2010.

Word now is that he will be in the class of 09, not 08 - he said it was a paperwork error, which means we still have him targeted.

Between him, Derrick Favors and Johnson i'd be totally thrilled to get one or two of the three - which is reasonable considering that we're the leader for Hamilton right now.

Its a good time to be a Wolfpack fan.

i'm just curious and wanted to hear some opinions and figured i'd stick it in here, but who is going to be able to compete w/ our frontcourt next year?

hickson, costner and mcauley should comprise one of, if not the best frontcourt in the nation imo.

the three most important rules of being a 'Pack fan:

Rule # 1: Don't jinx the team with expectations

Rule # 2: Don't tell everything you know...
