i would get a Wii but if i'm going to shell out some cash for a new console i'm going to get a true next-gen rig

So you care more about technical specifications than actual gaming experience?
11/20/2006 11:38:35 AM
yes, that's what he's saying.kind of like when people buy a $50k car that can do 0-60 in 3 seconds and then use it to drive to work and buy groceries. (pwn)[Edited on November 20, 2006 at 11:40 AM. Reason : s]

I'm satisfied with Zelda and Wii sports for now. Nintendo better get one of their franchise titles out by February or a ton of Wii owners are gonna be sitting around with nothing decent to play. The Gamecube launch was far better game-wise. Might buy Metal Slug anthology, though. Ten bucks cheaper than the other games, I believe.
11/20/2006 12:23:12 PM
I definitely don't agree with that. Other than Smash Bros. (which didn't come out until Dec.) the GC launch was a little lacking. Super Monkey Ball and Rogue Leader were the only noteworthy exclusive third party titles.
11/20/2006 12:39:45 PM
does anyone know any places in Raleigh/Cary that have any Wii's in stock?
11/20/2006 12:43:37 PM
everybody is sold out...
11/20/2006 1:06:13 PM
^^^Tony Hawk 3? plus pikmin was out by christmas as well. i guess i should have stated that within a month or so, the cube lineup was quite strong. not so much in the case of the wii.[Edited on November 20, 2006 at 1:09 PM. Reason : ][Edited on November 20, 2006 at 1:09 PM. Reason : arrows]

I agree with a lot of the previous evaluations, the WII is pretty freaking awesome. For a non-gaming person I picked it up pretty easy (the bf got his from Cary Best Buy). Anyone one have recommendations on whether Rabbids or Monkey Ball is the superior 2 player game? Just have Zelda and Sports now, looking to add to his collection.

Question about the classic controller.I noticed that many virtual games can be played with gamecube controllers or the wii remote. Has there been anything published to date that indicated the classic controller is a useful purchase? I know ill pick up a few NES games (super mario 3) but not sure if it will be required.
11/20/2006 2:12:14 PM
I was referring to exclusive 3rd party stuff. Tony Hawk 3 even came out on the N64. Pikmin was nice, even if it wasn't my cup of tea.Zelda, Wii Sports, Rayman, and Metal Slug are more than enough to keep me happy. Monkey Ball, DBZ Tenkaichi 2, and Trauma Center can make nice distractions until January when Wario Ware comes out.^Well the classic controller has the diamond formation, which may be helpful for some SNES games.[Edited on November 20, 2006 at 2:20 PM. a full fledged tennis game on the wii will be awesome. wii tennis would be amazing if you could aim your hits and move your own character. its crazy how close it is to being amazing already. you'd think it'd take a few years to really get all the intricacies of the new control system down pat.
11/20/2006 4:32:47 PM
yeah... i was thinking about that, but you would need a longer cord between the nunchuk and the wiimoteas it is, it isn't long enough to move the player with one, and swing with the other. it's a real shame they didn't make it longer..maybe use the directional pad though? that would be sweetPS will you be my wii friend chris?

I mentioned earlier I got a defective console. I just called Nintendo and they confirmed that it needs to be replaced. Fortunately it's no big deal, they are sending a replacement console and I just send my defective one back once I get it, so I don't go without Wii time! Only thing that sucks is I will probably lose my save games. But that beats going up to 12 days with no Wii. (Scratch that, I can save my games to an SD card, so I'm really all good to go now!)[Edited on November 20, 2006 at 5:08 PM. Reason : ]

Monkey Ball multi has dissappointed me so far. As I said before, there are 50 minigames, but only about 35 are playable. Another 5-10 are either stupid or ridiculously short/unfulfilling. If you want to get it just for the previous minigames, don't. Sega took a big crap on most of the previous games. Three courses for Racing, and no Grand Prix. Monkey Target has only 1 stage. Bowling is nearly unplayable and has no crazy modes. Golf is almost unplayable. There are several really fun games though. Disc Golf is great. Shoot is decent. Bumper Hovercarts are fine. Snowboarding is easy but decent. There is an awesome track thing where you have to navigate through a maze through obstacles.

I love the boxing game... I can't wait for a Punch-Out game.
11/20/2006 7:17:34 PM
where is the wii message board?
11/20/2006 7:35:55 PM
On the main wii screen, its the envelope on the bottom right corner, then if you click create message in the next screen, and then the envelope in the middle, it tells you the your wii code mine is4639 8694 2380 0047add me
11/20/2006 7:45:32 PM
mine is 7239 7787 8625 0694

tracer, I added you in my address book, now add me, I just wanna see how the message thing works. The virtual console is fun...slow as balls to connect and download yesterday though. Prolly because of the heavy load on the servers
11/20/2006 7:49:38 PM
i added you, but the send message button is still grayed out on the address book and your name is grayed out in my address book if i try to go through the letter icon
11/20/2006 7:52:28 PM
i just sent you a message

I just found out the best use for the Wii EVER.They should have let more people know about this. Seriously, if this gets out it will sell millions of units. Are you ready for this? You can use a teleprompter on videos. It doesn't sound that great right? Until you realize the best part. TELEPROMPTING PORN!Oh this is so awesome. You can set up your own fields of "blurriness" and draw little kiss marks on people's asses. It's so much fun. Screw mario party, the next time you have a group of friends over put on the latest copy of girls gone wild, and have all your friends play "circle the chick that shouldn't be going wild" Oh the possibilities.BTW, Here's a freeware program that converts any video file to a format the Wii can play.http://www.redkawa.com/videoconverters/wiivideo9/

11/20/2006 8:39:30 PM
those are just the ones they had available at launch. they'll have a lot more games than that eventually.
11/20/2006 8:49:02 PM
yea, id rather just wait to see what they decide to put on there though.something like the old shining games or landstalker or even dark savior would sway me
