DON'T THINK I FORGOT ABOUT YOU 1, YOU BASTARD

I just read "The Zombie Survival Guide" by Max Brooks. To put it bluntly, "World War Z" was a vastly superior work. The survival guide assumes a very specific type of zombie, which has features that are unlikely to be exhibited by the undead/infected (for instance, climbing ability). He then procedes to suggest a number of implausible responses, including the preposterous suggestion that military bases make for good fortresses. He does his descriptions of equipment justice, at any rate, and his establishment of the machete and the M-1 Carbine as ideal weapons are well-considered.

Tavor-2 + USAS-12 w/drum + wrecking bar + machete plz
6/12/2007 1:57:16 PM
Isn't the USAS 12 classified as a high-level destructive device? Also, you know that they make 9mm and other pistol caliber carbines that are probably a lot cheaper and use more standard magazines, plus folding ability.

What about the Coca-Cola bottling plant on South Wilmington?Industrial building with limited windows, ample supply of bottled water, and I'm sure one could jerry-rig a variety of neat tools with the equipment inside. Plus its next door to a pawn shop, which should have a nice supply of weapons.Plus, through the woods is a Sams Club[Edited on June 14, 2007 at 10:46 PM. Reason : Not Saunders]

6/17/2007 6:32:35 PM
I don't see any cons. In fact, why not carry it under your seat?
6/17/2007 6:34:20 PM

I do surely hope that the rabies virus never mutates to become slower to show symptoms but faster to attack (in a matter of minutes). Then we might have a zombie problem.

What about birds/flying insects that could get the zombie disease and transmit it, like the birds in RE:3 or insects in the xbox 360 zombie game?
10/24/2007 11:55:27 AM
^ That would be stupid. Everyone knows that animals are either immune or die from zombieitis and are not re-animated.
10/24/2007 12:55:19 PM
^Not necessarily. See: 28 Days Later. I don't know if they count as zombies though since technically it is a virus and not undead.
10/24/2007 12:56:41 PM
Well, we were closely related to the ape so it could spread. I guess we are saying that things like dogs, birds, chickens, horses, cows, etc the animals that don't closely match our DNA won't get the disease. Oh that and they will either run away from or stomp the shit out of a bunch of humans running after them with that batshit crazy look in their eyes. Now, I will tell you when I was last thinking about zombies. When I was at the state fair. My brother admitted it too. You were up to your ears in people and there was nowhere to go. All you need is a little zombie panic and you've got hundreds and hundreds of dead (trampling/stupid people panic), then thousands more become zombified to form the massive starting rush of undead people who go and start converting everybody else. Oh yes, that would be a dark day indeed.

10/24/2007 2:01:13 PM
oh that's going to end badly
10/24/2007 2:07:24 PM
Reading the thread it seems the problem would be much more serious from mosquitos who could possibly carry contaminated blood and pass the condition along...in which case you're fucked. Same would apply for any other insects that could transmit disease, such as cockroaches and flies. This still depends on the nature of the condition as to how well it could be transferred. Birds most likely would still avoid humans, despite any who fed on the fallen zombies they wouldn't have a need or instinctual urge to attack survivors. Carnivorous animals would be an iffy, but I say the only ones that could be a threat would be cats and dogs (pets) who could infect a person by biting them after eating a zombie. Just because they are immune doesn't mean they can't carry the virus! The disease could also get into the human ecosystem via processing and food chain dynamics, ala Mad Cow disease

Has anyone brought up that you'd probably need something to protect yourself from all the infected zombie blood that you're no doubt being splattered with while killing these zombies?
10/25/2007 10:41:16 PM
^ If you're killing zombies at a range close enough were blood splatter is a problem, you're most likely already fucked.
10/25/2007 11:11:57 PM
You'll need goggles to keep the blood out of your eyes.

A ton of people would have been there / went there when the zombie invasion began? Can't remember, it's been a while sense I read the book.
