10/11/2011 4:23:35 PM
well the folks at IC will get a kick out of that.
10/11/2011 4:27:59 PM
Fine with me, usually they get it mixed up the other way.

10/11/2011 6:33:00 PM
We need more guys who can jump straight up dunk the ball.
10/11/2011 6:44:29 PM
Yeah body built like Henson which we have seen isnt too bad in college, but when Henson goes pro he is gonna get thrown around like a rag doll which is why he stayed in school.

Is there a Julius Hodge recruiting violation pool
10/12/2011 6:40:02 PM
Oh look, ernie posting about stuff he obviously has no idea about.
10/12/2011 6:43:10 PM
^ what are you talking about dude?hodge is really really walking a fine line.
10/12/2011 7:05:58 PM
i agree he definitely is... but it's so blatant you have to think he checked with the NCAA to make sure it isn't a violation???i mean absolutely nothing is being hidden about what he does... do we think there is a possibility he could be that stupid? or careless?
10/12/2011 7:07:32 PM
he never mentioned his name. point blank. nothing to see here.
10/12/2011 7:10:39 PM
i get that but is logical insinuation enough??? we don't know... i hope notthe word "SF"his "top 20 ranking""heels" are recruiting him too...
10/12/2011 7:12:42 PM
who's he talking about?
10/12/2011 7:23:17 PM
According to Rivals, Providence's backcourt is more highly ranked (#8 SG and #10 PG) than NC State's (#6 and #55 PGs). And UCLA has the #2 and #52 PGs.[Edited on October 12, 2011 at 7:43 PM. Reason : those are overall rankings, not position rankings]
10/12/2011 7:36:28 PM
Unless he's getting paid, what he is doing is no different than any other ncsu grad or college grad for that matter using twitter to convince someone to come to their school. If NCAA is going to penalize on that, they will have to expand enforcement by 10000%
10/12/2011 9:56:25 PM
yeah i would be shocked if the NCAA has an enforcement policy on former players using Twitter to encourage recruitsmight seem shady, but he's been doing it long enough that if there was an issue, i'm sure it would have been handled by now
10/12/2011 10:00:26 PM
Haven't there been times when former UNC players had contact with recruits and people asked about it. Wasn't it just deemed ok because of their standing with the university?
10/12/2011 10:57:08 PM
I'm sure Debbie has compliance staff that monitor him. He hosted the Red Rally last year. He's in close enough contact with the athletics dept that they're not gonna let him fuck it up before Gottfried even gets started.I think other users nailed it already. No name, no problem. And as long as he's not providing benefits, it's free speech.

THE JULES OF HARLEMON HIS WAY TO STARDOM AN NCAA VIOLATION[Edited on October 17, 2011 at 9:59 AM. Reason : fg]
10/17/2011 9:58:45 AM
Until Hodge is an employed staff member of NC State University, I don't see how it is a violation. Former players all over the country encourage recruits to come to their schools. They shouldn't be allowed to play in summer leagues with them if the NCAA doesn't want them advising them on where to go.
10/17/2011 10:03:12 AM
Enough with this bullshit.
10/17/2011 10:03:52 AM
Getting Warren would be HUGE. We haven't won a head-to-head recruiting battle with UNC in ages (since Thompson maybe??).
10/17/2011 10:07:49 AM
10/17/2011 10:12:28 AM
V beat them head to head for a handful of recruits in the 80's. (Not many though)We had huge recruiting classes on a routine basis.
10/17/2011 10:14:24 AM
10/17/2011 10:19:47 AM
There really is no evidence to back this up except word of mouth. Have heard guys like Walker Lambiotte (transferred to Northwestern), Chucky Brown, and Rodney Monroe. (UNC favored King Rice over Corchianni, who was also a McD's AA)UNC also wanted Lowe and Whit, (Norm Sloan recruits). And you'll get debates over Washburn, (they accepted fellow McD's AA Kevin Maddon that same year who had an equal if not worse SAT score, 500?) and Charles Shackleford.]
10/17/2011 10:29:19 AM
@Ernie Again the part you are not getting is the recruits names were mentioned directly. "John Wall PLEASE come to NC STATE! Also according to the article it was more of a concern with people directly contacting the recruit.
10/17/2011 10:29:43 AM
guys, the concept of a loophole is not a foreign one to anybody. you don't have to explain the same technicality over and over.the point is: julius hodge is sitting squarely in a loophole, knowingly murdering the spirit of the law. sometimes people get upset when you do this to their rules.]
10/17/2011 10:44:15 AM
I'm sure he isn't aware that it's a fine line. So TWW drawing attention to it is sure to help the situation. Maybe someone should start a thread on PP, or better yet, on IC.
10/17/2011 10:47:52 AM
10/17/2011 10:49:10 AM
^do you think drawing a bunch of attention to it on tww is going have any effect on the situation other than a negative one? that's all i'm saying.
10/17/2011 10:57:15 AM
Negative consequences?! For potential violations?! Accountability?! OH GOD[Edited on October 17, 2011 at 11:13 AM. Reason : Here's a positive effect: Hodge stops this before he gets us in trouble.]
