hold on a minute here guys: why is it okay to dog javi but not alex johnson?javi is a guy that stuck it out w/ an absolutely horrible coach for 4 years. how is that worthless while a guy transferring from cal state bakersfield to a team that he never would have been able to play for out of high school for a single year is noble?javi should have said fuck you and transferred. every person in raleigh (except me) hated the kid, he was outmatched in the acc, his team was never any good and he got recruited over. but it's totally cool to shit on him?
5/7/2012 1:38:17 PM
yep
5/7/2012 1:40:57 PM
i appreciate javi for what he did, we didn't have (or couldn't get) anybody to do it better, and i'm not dogging him. i'm just saying AJ, as a grad student, was a better pg for our team.if you go back and look, i constantly defended the guy, except that one time when he got called for a stupid technical at half-court and basically lost us a game.[Edited on May 7, 2012 at 1:42 PM. I only hated Javi when I wasn't hold up a sign that said LATIN HEAThttps://www.google.com/search?q=javi+gonzalez+latin&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=h6S&rls=org.mozilla:en-US%3Aofficial&sclient=psy-ab&q=javi+gonzalez+latin+heat&oq=javi+gonzalez+latin+heat&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_l=serp.3...3162.3783.0.3862.5.5.0.0.0.0.299.460.0j1j1.2.0...0.0.AzBzKYxjdhg&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=896fd9c23e2637e0&biw=1920&bih=940

reasons i hated javi and did not hate alex johnson:1) javi would compound mistakes by getting pissed off and fucking up even worse/make retarded ass fouls. you could count on this happening pretty much every single game.2) javi couldn't play defense to save his damn life.
5/7/2012 2:56:46 PM
Reasons I liked JaviThat 40-footer versus Duke
5/7/2012 3:02:21 PM
reasons i liked julius maysthat 3 to beat miami his freshman year. ice fucking cold.
5/7/2012 3:09:22 PM
So I have blacked out many memories from the Javi days. Was he as fast, strong and as good with the dribble as AJ?[Edited on May 7, 2012 at 3:36 PM. Reason : g]

Any PG who turns the ball over 28% of the time should have his hands chopped off and put on little spikes outside the Dail Center]
5/7/2012 3:48:49 PM
^ exactly . Over 28% of Alex Johnson s possessions end with a turnover and about 60% of them ended up with such a bad brick that it started the fast break the other way. This Alex Johnson unfounded love fest might be the weirdest argument I've ever seen on this message board and that's saying something. Not to mention he really couldn't have played any worse in the ncaa tournament.
5/7/2012 4:22:47 PM
you're blowing the "alex johnson lovefest" out of proportion face.i think the arguments are:1) lewis may not be able to step-in and play as well as johnson immediately (although i think most people recognize he will eventually be much better than johnson); or2) johnson was more serviceable than javii don't think anybody is claiming aj was great, like you seem to be insinuating

5/7/2012 4:38:01 PM
I'm not blowing anything out of proportion.Alex Johnson was a below average backup PG. A backup PG needs to be in the 98-101 O-rating category to be considered "solid".The guy was bad, period. If you don't think a McDonalds All American can step in as a freshman and play up to Johnson's "bad" standards you are fucking crazy.Let's get some fucking perspective here. CJ Leslie was almost as deadly from 3's as Alex Johnson was this year.Javi Gonzalez had better stats as a senior than AJ did this year.He couldn't shoot, he was a liability with turnovers, and he didn't really affect the game in a positive way on many occasions. We were better off with Johnson than nothing. Anything more than that is false.
5/7/2012 4:39:51 PM
^ BUT, AJ had a ridiculous pump fake.
5/7/2012 4:41:30 PM
why'd you put bad in quotes, you're the one who's saying he was bad
5/7/2012 4:45:02 PM
5/7/2012 4:45:11 PM
You guys are wrong on this one and you're just going to need to accept it.
5/7/2012 4:47:26 PM
And javi gonzalez was a below average starting point guard.Who couldn't play defense and more often than not negatively impacted the game with poor decision making and a bad attitude.People remember him making threes to get us back into games, but they forget that it was his bad defense/dumb fouls that got us behind in the first place. If I had to pick one to have on my team, it would be AJ all day long.
5/7/2012 4:48:04 PM
^^wrong about what? that aj was a great point guard? nobody is arguing that face.
5/7/2012 4:49:34 PM
AJ should have been first team all acc
5/7/2012 4:51:50 PM
I really think that OKC could use a PG like AJ as a solid back up. Would be much better than an aging D Fish
5/7/2012 4:54:11 PM
Why settle for backup? Slide Westbrook to the 2 and let him start!
5/7/2012 4:57:14 PM
The story of the offseason is really going to be Tyler Lewis development between now and the start of the season.I just hope he doesn't put too much pressure on himself to come in and live up to the standards of excellence that Alex Johnson has Wolfpack fans accustomed to.This is really similar to Andrew Luck's situation replacing Peyton Manning. Perhaps they could exchange numbers and chat about it.

What kind of impact will Jaquan Raymond transferring have on the program? Are there any hidden gems at Carmichael that we think can provide the spark off the bench in mop up duty? What about his leadership qualities or all the free movies he knew how to download off the internet? From what I hear, he also had a solid connection for half price hair cuts. You can't discount what kind of impact that has on team chemistry.

now you're just being stupid
5/7/2012 5:13:27 PM
I, for one, am laughing at face. I hated Javi, but he was easily a better player than Johnson. Come on, get real. Johnson started the season like 0-30 from 3, but he clapped a lot during the games.
5/7/2012 5:17:10 PM
From watching almost every game, I think AJ was more serviceable at back-up than javi was as a starter. And I think it might take Lewis a little while to adjust to ACC play (but I hope he jumps right in). And I'll leave it at that.
5/7/2012 5:33:00 PM
it's not javi's fault he was the starter.
5/7/2012 5:40:18 PM
Johnson was a good open shooter and decent offensive player overall. The part people are overlooking is his efense.

ok, let me rephrase: I'd rather AJ be Zo's back-up, as opposed to Javi.
