I'd say next season culminates in Rick vs Shane?
11/28/2011 12:06:56 AM
While Shane is a tool and I want him to die, his speech towards Hershel was probably one of the best parts of the series.
11/28/2011 12:26:09 AM
11/28/2011 12:39:01 AM
fuck that was a great episode
11/28/2011 1:17:46 AM
11/28/2011 7:19:29 AM
I really wanted someone to shoot Lori, so she would stop complaining
11/28/2011 8:25:32 AM
I knew Shane was up to no good when he started walking with his armed all bowed outAnd the writers aren't following the storyline from the comics so you people will shut up about the comics already
11/28/2011 9:09:20 AM
^this. At this point its more of an "inspired by" they clearly don't give a fuck about the comics and Kirkman is a producer so if he is okay with it, then i guess I am too.I also like Shane's little speech to Lori about Rick not being strong enough or whatever then Rick was the only one with the balls to finish Sophia. Rick is tough as shit, dumb, but tough.[Edited on November 28, 2011 at 9:38 AM. Reason : also]
11/28/2011 9:36:27 AM
ditto on stfu about the comics, nobody gives a shit, this was a great episodewho's to say hershel knew that was sophia? also why was glenn taking the guns? he somehow had an idea of wghat was coming and trying to keep it form happening? he gets on my nerves, andreas gotten better, now glenn is my number one hated upon
11/28/2011 9:43:54 AM
This entire season has been wasted on two kids. Last night's final scene was full of win, though.
11/28/2011 10:34:44 AM
But I think that's why I like it, Rick's the only one that could shoot Sophia even though Shane claims he can do what has to be done.Dale made an excellent comment about how he's the sort of person that doesn't let the world training. He's all for survival, but he's maintained his scruples to some extent. I think the same goes for Rick. He'll do what needs to be done to survive, but he's still going to stick to his moral code. This shows in his ability to shoot Sophia; although, you could probably take the argument that the other walkers were Herschel's folk and Sophia was "one of ours."
11/28/2011 10:35:19 AM
Awesome episode! Also, Saps I think you're confusing Glenn with Dale.
11/28/2011 10:42:47 AM
They are obviously trying make Shane out to be a villain here but honestly I can't blame him for acting the way he did. If there were a barn full of violent flesh eating zombies 100 yards from my camp I would react the same way. Especially if I saw them wrangling more flesh eaters into the barn by the neck.
11/28/2011 11:00:24 AM
^^ah, you right, lol names^that makes it all the more interesting
11/28/2011 11:06:27 AM
11/28/2011 11:13:16 AM
Nice Portal reference haha. And yeah I wish it would stick to the comics too.
11/28/2011 12:24:19 PM
11/28/2011 1:12:27 PM
i had completely forgotten about the black guy until they showed him this episodewhat a waste, Tyreese was such a badass in the comics
11/28/2011 2:02:00 PM
hopefully next season won't take 7 episodes to have any sort of entertainment value besides mockery
11/28/2011 4:49:39 PM
I think Rick stepped up to shoot Sophia because he feels like it was his responsibility that she went missing, and therefore his responsibility to do the deed no one else wants to do. And as mentioned earlier, it seems to be his coming of age moment in the zombie era. Also Shane is awesome.
11/28/2011 5:06:15 PM
I mean yeah it was a pretty cool speech and whatnot by Shane, but he completely fucked them all. Now they either have to leave, or forcibly take the house.
11/28/2011 5:37:35 PM
forcibly take the house. fuck Herschel.I'd rather they move on from the farm for entertainment reasons but I think bending over to Herschel was stupid in the first place.
11/28/2011 6:04:29 PM
It was fucked up that Shane shot fatty in the leg, but aside from that, he's been on point.and....
11/28/2011 6:54:13 PM
Yea. Shane is a dick. But in this situation sometimes you have to be. 3 days is way too fucking long for a child to be lost in the woods with zombies wandering around. Rick tried to do things the right way and it fucked the group over several times. Really fucked up they had to waste the zombies in front of everyone. But sometimes in order to make your point you have to force them to face the reality.
11/28/2011 6:58:57 PM
I was really hoping Carl would take the shot though we currently have no basis for it
11/28/2011 7:46:16 PM
That was some good shit
11/28/2011 9:02:52 PM
finally, an episode where something actually fucking happened, and what do you know, it was actually good. almost every other episode this season there has been almost zero story progression, at the end of each episode they are in almost the exact same spot they were at the end of the previous episode, when something actually happens, this show can be good.
11/28/2011 9:18:14 PM
lol at the thought of carl taking a shot at sophia
11/28/2011 9:22:02 PM
Shane isn't doing "what had to be done". He's basically doing anything to protect and gain the affection of Lori and Carl, which makes him a danger to everyone in the group that isn't Lori or Carl (including Rick). If you like Shane, chances are you think you would be him in the zombie apocalypse. It's a fine attitude to have until you are not the strongest ape in the Congo. [Edited on November 28, 2011 at 11:36 PM. Reason : '']
11/28/2011 11:32:46 PM
I was hoping someone would shoot Shane as he was busting open the locks on the barn
11/28/2011 11:37:52 PM
^^I felt the same way. I identify much more with Rick/Dale
11/28/2011 11:44:06 PM
11/28/2011 11:46:03 PM
they spent a night on the highway after sophia went missing and before they went to the church i think, so it could have been that night i guess.
11/28/2011 11:52:05 PM
^^that's exactly what happened... they actually went over that in the "talking dead" thing.otis grabs zombie sophia, puts her in barn.shane shoots otis.no one alive knows where sophia is anymore.
11/29/2011 12:18:42 AM
probably not, but you people bitch about anything
shane is still alive, sophia and otis are not (not the only reasons the comic storyline is fucked at this point)although shane is certainly becoming a dangerous threat but who knows where it goes from herei think they will leave the farm now, otherwise, i dont see how they have a show on a nice, safe farm (cause hershel's people arent a threat)i dunno, maybe they will end up at an abandoned prison or something
11/29/2011 12:32:22 AM
I liked this episode a lot, but they packed all the actual conflict and good material into it just for the mid-season finale. Although I loved that Rick was the one to shoot Sophia, my favorite part of the episode was Shane and Dale, where Dale chastises him--"at least I can say that when the world collapsed I was strong enough to not be taken down with it"--or whatever, not going to go look for the quote.
11/29/2011 12:54:40 AM
Just to show I'm not only in it to hate on the show, I'm here to say that I liked that one.And that's exactly the reason why I hate on it as much as I do. This show has some serious potential to be an entertaining show. I really hope they build off that episode and really ramp up the entertainment value in the second half. What's up with Carl's attitude all of a sudden? And why aren't more people talking about his miraculous recovery from gunshots and surgery? Even Tupac would be impressed.
11/29/2011 8:23:44 AM
Something has been bothering the hell out of me. Why the fuck was Lennie James featured in the first episode of The Walking Dead? (first ep season one that is). He's a fairly well known actor so I've continually assumed he will show up again. However I no longer thing that. Why the fuck cast someone like that for such a trivial/meaningless role?
11/29/2011 8:55:06 AM
11/29/2011 8:59:54 AM
Plus he gets the ladies
11/29/2011 9:01:01 AM
Could be the cuts to the budget.
11/29/2011 9:06:24 AM
by far the best episode of the season. i was thinking that shane was going to hold hershel at gunpoint and that rick was going to kill shane to save hershel. this would have been a catalyst for the group disbanding (at least partially) and leaving the farm thus ramping up the action even further.that being said, i can't complain about the episode.glad the sophia plot is done.
11/29/2011 9:11:01 AM
11/29/2011 9:27:38 AM
either used for star power for the first ep, or (hopefully) he'll show back up at some point.
11/29/2011 9:41:22 AM
They included him in the pilot for the same reason they put Steven Seagal in the trailer for Executive Decision and he was gone in the first 10 minutes of the movie. Just trying to get you to tune in.Plus his salary demands are probably larger than the rest of the cast so it's easier/cheaper to just show him here and there.
11/29/2011 12:42:18 PM
When did Lennie James become some legitimate star that draws people to any show?
11/29/2011 12:44:06 PM
11/29/2011 12:51:06 PM
haha I had to google the name to find out who he was. I don't even remember him in the first episode
11/29/2011 12:53:49 PM
^&^^^I never said he was a big star. Maybe I should have clarified "fairly well known" because honestly I couldn't remember his name, just recognized him from Jericho and 1-2 things here and there. But I think some people would agree that he's recognizable.
