6 years ago today, Beloved released "Failure On." got me reminiscing about some old shows and fests (some I got to go to, others that I didn't but still holy geez at the lineups haha). new Every Time I Die song is out there. I honestly haven't liked their last 3 albums much at all; the new song sounds decent though. Once they changed their style for HD! everything has kinda run together and sounded the same to me though.

7/2/2009 10:11:33 AM

so, an emergency appendix removal last week for our lead guitar player has pushed back the studio start date a few days . We were supposed to start our month stint last week but its not starting until Wednesday of this week. We're just going to try and finish it in a shorter time than we scheduled (we had fat built in anyways sorta).
7/13/2009 9:06:37 AM
trim the fat dawg. that sucks though. you'd like to be able to relax in the studio, even if just a little bit. hope your bandmate is ok. that's the important thing.i'm sure the album will still rock!
7/13/2009 9:12:53 AM
thanks man , and yea definitely adds a little stress, but I think it will still be enjoyable time off for me once I get in there (I won't be there until this weekend). We could have possibly started sooner, but he was still in a lot of pain this weekend, so I don't know that 10 hrs a day of guitar + sleeping on a couch is the best thing for him without a few more days of rest behind him heh.
7/13/2009 9:17:15 AM
how much do y'all pay?
7/13/2009 9:24:31 AM
7/13/2009 9:50:51 AM
^^sounds stupid, but I can't tell you the rate that we get due to the contract b/w the label and the studio. I doubt either of them will read this thread, but you hate to get burned on something like that hah. I can tell you that his regular rates are $40/hr for normal producing, recording, editing, mixing, mastering etc. on Sun-Thurs 12pm-10pm. He doesnt charge for dinner breaks so it works out to 4-45 hours a week. By normal, I mean planned and booked 3+ months in advance. For overtime (Fridays and Saturdays), its usually $60 an hour. He's always very lenient too. If you are running until 10:30 or just need some touch ups on a Friday or something, he's not out trying to make a quick buck and charging you out the wazoo. If it becomes a habit during the time you are there and you're taking advantage of it (ie weren't prepared to finish in the time allotted) then thats when you'll get charged.Sorry if this sounds like a commercial, but he is awesome to work with; hes been doing this for a long time for both big bands and local bands (he was the drummer for Swift too if you remember them) and I definitely stand behind his studio (especially for heavier styles of music). I am also a fan of Warrior studio in carrboro (for rock and more melodic stuff) if you are asking because you are interested in recording something.^ haha yea first time seeing WoJ for me and they were def solid. not a huge fan of theirs on record but live they are intense.[Edited on July 13, 2009 at 10:05 AM. 7/13/2009 10:01:00 AM
we're talking about Jamie King right? why wouldn't you stand behind his studio? the man's a damn genious!
7/13/2009 10:06:21 AM
indeed, he's awesome. he actually produces too instead of just being a "producer" who is really no more than an engineer there to simply record you. Definitely a big difference.

good stuff. new album is def good. has some GREAT raw rock songs on it, a few songs im not that into as well, but overall its a unique record and the presales have been pretty solid.[Edited on July 16, 2009 at 1:42 PM. Reason : ]

I know it's July, but freaking VADER and DECREPIT BIRTH are coming to Volume 11 in December!!!!!!Vader, FTW!!!!!!!!!!!
7/16/2009 2:33:38 PM
^^ yea. there have been some issues with the pressing, but I think its been isolated to the UK distribution/pressing service. The issue was that some of the CDs were somehow copied at a slower speed. The entire CD was slightly slowed down and thus had a slightly lower pitch.

Origin's Echoes of Decimation is the fucking shit!
7/19/2009 5:46:15 PM
Whoever told me about Shining like 8 pages ago thanks.New album fucking rocks. Its weird, the more complex their leads/solos get the more simple all the other riffs are. Also Keep of Kalessin is my new shit.[Edited on July 23, 2009 at 2:16 PM. Reason : ]
7/23/2009 2:14:53 PM
word. as long as the riffs kick ass, simple is fine by me
7/23/2009 3:45:09 PM
If y'all get a chance listen to Gigantic Brain's new cd, World. It's really chill but still has that techno grind thrown in from his first album, The Invasion.
7/23/2009 3:54:39 PM
i will add it to my list. thanks

i think i might be going to see cannibal corpse, behemoth, and black dahlia murder aug 10 in SC. $20 but that should be fun haha
7/25/2009 12:32:13 AM
^ that'd be a sweet show!i might hit up lincoln theatre monday just to see born of osiris.

Any new age psychedelic stuff?http://www.myspace.com/mammatus
7/30/2009 10:50:48 PM
new behemoth is retardedly heavy haha.really looking forward to the new BTBAM, Black Dahlia Murder, Red Chord, Dillinger and im sure there are still some im forgetting. New HIL is definitely good. Nothing great but after listening to it for awhile now its probably a 7/10 for me.
7/31/2009 8:39:55 PM
someone else tonight told me the new HIL isn't bad. i'll probably pick that up.definitely looking forward to BTBAM, Black Dahlia Murder and Dillinger as well.
7/31/2009 11:45:36 PM
that one BDM clip was definitely a let down. James Malone has spread his sauce in that soup.
8/1/2009 12:08:01 PM
really? I enjoyed it. I dig BDM, and I feel like its pretty much what I expect from them. ie they never really surprise me too much, but I still enjoy most the discs. I'll reserve judgement until I hear the entire album tho.
8/1/2009 12:41:48 PM
It felt super super technical and not that evil like anything on nocturnal or miasma. Its more like Unhallowed than anything else, however i think it said on that site that the bassist had been listening exclusively to necrophagist for like the last 6 months and that he wrote that one song.
8/1/2009 12:44:24 PM
I've come to the conclusion that the only hardcore band I like so far is HORSE the Band.
8/1/2009 12:46:34 PM
You don't like bad brains? also faraeko i put more songs up from my band, but i think my band finally broke up.
8/1/2009 12:47:49 PM
^ I honestly never listened to Bad Brains before. I guess I was talking about post-hardcore, I just like their Nintendocore gimmick, lol.Do you have a link to your band page?
8/1/2009 12:50:00 PM
Bad Brains are crucialhttp://myspace.com/moderately1337
8/1/2009 12:53:22 PM
^ Oh, hahahaha. I heard that shit, son. Did you put a new one up?EDIT: Listening to it now. I like it. I talked to my buddy who plays guitar, he's really interested in starting something. Let me know more details on a place to play. [Edited on August 1, 2009 at 12:59 PM. Reason : Why did the band break up?]
