oh my gosh that is gorgeous!ive never been to a reception without dancing....however i did have a friend who went and said that he didn't even notice until later on in the evening. i think it'll be just fine
3/14/2010 10:31:06 AM
Yeah if you're not the dancing type don't force yourselves to be so. If people are having a good time socializing I seriously doubt they'll even really notice. I think it's better to not do dancing at all if you're not into it than make a half-assed attempt at incorporating it into the reception. I've been to three weddings now where that was the case and it just ends up being sad.

Klassy.I kind of like these tape and twine banners or whatever you'd call them:I'd be afraid of it just looking stupid though if I did it myself.[Edited on March 16, 2010 at 9:19 PM. Reason : ,]

i really like hydrangeas. but i feel like they can look like really country and dumpy or really like "shabby chic"(note: i'm not getting married anytime soon i just like to talk weddings)but i found this pic. this is the type of like shabby chic i like:
3/16/2010 9:29:40 PM
Yeah hydrangeas need to be done well to look good. But I guess that's true for any flower
3/16/2010 9:38:00 PM
^^oooohhhh pretttttyyyyy.[Edited on March 16, 2010 at 9:39 PM. Reason : hgfhg]
3/16/2010 9:39:29 PM
^^ yea def true of any flower. i feel like hydrangeas are just so simple or something that there is a fine line between country/dumpy and like simple shabby elegance haha.example of a dislike w/them:[Edited on March 16, 2010 at 9:51 PM. Reason : .]
3/16/2010 9:50:34 PM
the bows
3/16/2010 10:43:56 PM
Yeah without the bows they'd probably look fine.
3/17/2010 8:16:31 PM

3/17/2010 10:54:55 PM
Hope you have $texas for that venue when you get married
3/17/2010 10:58:32 PM

3/17/2010 11:07:51 PM

^those are soooooooooooooooooooo cutecody and i had a blast at the tasting.we're having heavy passed hors de vours passed during cocktail hourand then some actual food throughout the receptionwe got a lot of food.i mean a LOT.whenever i find the reciept ill put a list up.(i remember pasta bar, mixed salad, potato bar, salmon, and tenderloin. along with the staple cheese and fruit/chocolate. the passed hors de vours were bacon wrapped scallops (OMG), crap stuffed shrimp, bruschetta, stuffed mushrooms, chicken stuffed fillo....thats all i remember)we were worried its too much food, but our coordinator told us that while it's on the heavy end its not too much[Edited on March 21, 2010 at 9:10 PM. 3/21/2010 9:04:33 PM
^^cute!! I like them a lot...destination IIRC, right?^mmmmmmm, food tasting. glad you guys had fun doing that! and yeah, IMHO i don't think you can have too much food or alcohol at a wedding
3/21/2010 9:09:53 PM
and i really, really, really like this dress:mechantes has called me three times and i've called them back just as many. we're playing phone tag

So, don't think I am crazy but I am seriously considering making my bridesmaid dresses. I did find some at VS and they would work also but they do not have a color I am wild about. Since we are nixing the cruise ship wedding (so difficult - too many restrictions on my creativity) we are opting for beach/outer banks/lighthouse wedding. I found some information about convertible dresses, aka one seam dresses. Here are some BEAUTIFUL dresses I LOVE: http://www.twobirdsbridesmaid.com/main.htmlBut seriously, 270 for a SIMPLE dress...I know I can make this on my own...it would just come down to finding the stretchy shimmery material. Since I am a FACS teacher, I have unlimited apparel resources such as access to machines, sergers, tools, and a master mentor seamstress. So, girls...would YOU like a dress like this?
3/28/2010 1:21:16 AM
yes. i think they are pretty
3/28/2010 1:36:31 AM
^^ I'm considering making my own wedding dress so it's what I want (read: getting my mom to do it since I haven't touched a sewing machine since middle school ) so I don't think you're crazy.
3/28/2010 1:51:18 AM
I think those are gorgeous! And having spent $200+ on three bridesmaids dresses, I know I would be appreciative if a bride were seriously taking cost into consideration.
3/28/2010 10:14:08 AM
^^^ You have great style so I'm glad you like it!^^That is AWESOME! Any ideas on style yet? I'd love to see it!^Thanks! My friend was in a wedding last year and the bride chose designer VERA WANG dresses that was OVER $900 each! She also had to fly to Chicago. I was kinda like... I just think that IS CRAZY.***I am going to get some fabric today and try to fashion a miniature dress (like barbie size) to show the girls. The two birds people will SEND you a sample if you pay $40 for shipping and handling and return it within 10 days. I might do this just so I can get a good pattern.Victoria's Secret has one too - "Flirty"http://www.victoriassecret.com/commerce/onlineProductDisplay.vs?namespace=productDisplay&origin=onlineProductDisplay.jsp&event=display&prnbr=GL-223126&cgname=OSCLODRSCVT&rfnbr=5983The other VS version - "Daytime"http://www2.victoriassecret.com/commerce/onlineProductDisplay.vs?namespace=productDisplay&origin=onlineProductDisplay.jsp&event=display&prnbr=GL-252350&cgname=OSCLODRSCVTWhich version do you like - flirty or daytime? What color do you guys like?
3/28/2010 11:12:07 AM
personally if i was in someones wedding and they chose to make the bridesmaids dresses i would be so impressed i wouldn't care if it was ass ugly (the ones you're looking at arent)so thats pretty cool. i mean since you have the resources and know how, why not? then you get exactly what you want and your girls save some $ and have a dress with at least a cool backstoryin other news, i told my mom yesterday when she started asking about wedding stuff that i am very likely not having a wedding. she was shocked. i reminded her how expensive they are and unless someone has thousands of dollars lying around, its not happening. in all honestly, my fantasy wedding is getting married on the beach with whoever the fuck shows up then getting on a sailboat and leaving for our honeymoon from the beach. no reception no food no nothing. just us & whoever wanted to show up and see it. ok maybe a champaign toast then we leave

^That's awesome. ^^Do it. People will remember yours for what is different, not because you had a cookie cutter wedding. I LOVE beach weddings, and I love simple weddings! Point is, make it what you want! And the boat idea is cute--we got married by a river and almost did the boat departure thing.
3/28/2010 4:32:11 PM
I've decided that I'm going to let my bridesmaids pick their own dress as long as it's green and knee-ish length.. I won't care. I saw this picture and fell in love:

I am currently in the process of making my hair flower. I found a neat tutorial to DIY.I went to a wedding in the fall where someone bought one for $59...So far I spent $4.99 (-50% coupon) on a peony flower, $3.99 (-40% off coupon) on a crystal center, some white feathers I already had..and I still need to buy a barrette or just hook it on a bobby pin...but so far, it's cost me less than $5.I'll post the finished result but so far this is what I am going for:
3/29/2010 8:45:43 PM
very beautiful!! Can't wait to see the finished result

3/29/2010 9:47:21 PM
that's awesome.i say savannah. of course its not my decision but just thought id chime in
3/29/2010 9:51:13 PM
key west makes for an easy honeymoon. can just do it there, or head to miami and go further south.
