P28

No, they made the P220 in 9mm.However, I DID mean to type P226.I was definitely planning on buying the XD from Lawmens. They've always had the best prices I've found locally on any of my guns.Just curious if anyone had a special deal on the Sig or the XD.

hey guys i'm looking for a handgun but i'm not really sure where to start. I was going to buy one of my dad's but the only one he wants to sell is his .44 magnum, and i'm not really sure that's necessary.I was thinking maybe a 9 mm or 380. What is a good first gun? And used, what price range am I looking at?
10/5/2008 2:48:35 AM
Best first handgun is honestly probably a .22 of some kind so that you can start with the basics rather than trying to learn them while being confronted with recoil at the same time. That said, I started with 9mm & I'd imagine most shooters start with one of the main calibers. I would skip the .380. It's a pointless round unless you're dealing with a pocket pistol and that's not what you want for a first gun. What are you wanting the gun for? There's a ton of options out there that are all good choices but your proposed use would help to narrow it down a bit. Without that, I typically recommend checking out a Glock 19, Springfield XD9 Service (4"), S&W M&P9, Sig P226, & maybe a Beretta 92 or Taurus thrown in for good measure. The 1st 3 are going to be lighter & easier to carry around all day if you go that route. The last 3 are going to be a bit heavier but the extra weight can help dull some of the recoil which is always helpful when you're learning. The XD & Sig are my personal choices. The XD feels better to me than the Glock or S&W & the Sig is just a Sig. Once you own one, you'll want more. Your best option is going to be shooting several different options before buying one. Either rent some from a range or try to meet up with some people that own some of the guns that you're looking at.

time to thin the herd and buy some more shit. Prices are set, must have a ccw or a handgun purchase permit or meet me at PDHSC( you pay the fee) for firearms/recievers. I am offering this here before it goes on gunbroker. Pics will be in the gallery tonight if it works, if not PM me with your email address and I will send you pics. I have ten (10) Essential Arms stripped AR 15 lowers, coated black by them, with sequental serial numbers. $100 each or $950 for all, one has a Del-ton LPK installed. Its in the middle of the range and will be sold after all the rest unless you buy several. These do not like Pmags, but I dont like Pmags so I was cool with it. 9 of these are still wrapped in the newspaper from LA that they came in. SKS D or M,( 16''barrel) this is one that takes AK mags. It came from Norinco like that, has a nice blonde sporter stock. It also has no charger cut on the bolt, no bolt hold open and the trigger pack is specific to these models. The magwell is only cut for the AK mag, not the huge opening like the rest. These are rare, This is only the 5th one I have ever seen, I have another one that works like a champ, can be made to accept an ak drum, but wont right now.Figure out Sec.922r for yourself. $450 For the 1911 fans- Foster overrun ( Caspian) Govt. Carbon, novak f/r, forward serrations, serrated flat top slide. Going to build a commander, and this is a Govt slide, so here it is. Never fit and will require fitting to your frame. Has one darkspot, will come off with steel wool. $220 And for those who really want a project- 3 JPE 1911 frames from Sarco, these are tweaker frames from about 2001, before they sold them as tweaker frames. They are cut to officer size( they were in between sizes, not oacp not a govt), with a filler tig welded in for the lower GS bushing, hole has been located and tapped. The MSH hole has not been drilled on some, frame tangs have been welded on, and the fuckers at sarco didnt tell me that the ejector pin hole had a bit broke in it (2 of the frames). These will require some work but can be made to work if you like this sort of thing or need some junk to practice on. $50 each or $100 for all. Springfield Armory 1911 barrel with link, factory 2pc $60. Ed Brown Beavertail jig, $16Wilson Combat Beavertail jig $16.EB highgrip BT, carbon been blasted, $20EB firing pin for Springfield 1911s( wont fit anything else) $5 new in the package. and finially, 2 brazilian surplus 1911 slides, have been glass beaded and radiused on the front, a product of my younger days. I just built a Foster frame and added one of these, fit pretty well since the frame had some thicker rails. $50 each two for $90[Edited on October 7, 2008 at 6:46 PM. Reason : damn Im a shopaholic.]

10/13/2008 9:51:30 AM
don't forget Jim's Gun Shop in Garner!
10/14/2008 4:11:52 PM
Lawman's is good if you're willing to buy used.
10/14/2008 6:11:51 PM
^^ they are good but they are small, if you want an FFL transfer they are $20 as opposed to the others at $30.
10/14/2008 6:34:02 PM
If you're willing to drive, Jim's in Fayetteville has an impressive selection and Guns Plus has always treated me right.
10/14/2008 8:32:42 PM
anybody got a H&R or NEF single shot rifle for sale?
10/14/2008 8:38:47 PM
I thought Jims was getting pounded by ATF because of an employee walking out with guns on a pretty regular basis. Better call before you go.
10/14/2008 10:18:03 PM
Sale fell through last time and I decided to hold on to it, but I'm gonna try this againFS: Springfield Armory XD-9 subcompact, $300 - CCW or permit requiredcomes with original case, paperwork, 2x 10rd mags, and SA gun lockThis one has the original bruniral finish, so it's got some holster wearFor those of you that contacted me the first time around for this, let me know if you're still interested and I'll give you priority. I just don't want to go and PM everyone again after all this time.
10/14/2008 10:45:01 PM
I need a rifle of some sort to go shoot deer with. I have never owned (or really shot) a gun. What should I buy? (yes I'm going to go to the range first and be taught safety and all that jazz.)
10/14/2008 10:51:04 PM
^ Remington 700 or Savage 110 or 12. the caliber for deer I use is a 270 or 25-06, and when I was little a 6br
10/15/2008 12:52:38 AM
^^i agree with the remington 700. most bang for the buck.the best advice i can give is to not make the mistake of buying a $700 rifle and putting a $200 scope on it. buy a $200 rifle and put a $700 scope on it. you'll kill and drop more deer.[Edited on October 15, 2008 at 1:13 AM. Reason : i shoot .30-06. more knockdown but not at flat as the .270. all personal preference.]
10/15/2008 1:13:04 AM
send bigblueram a PM, he had a Rem 700 in 270 for $350 on the two pages before this, and thats a damn good price to me

wtb: used CZ-75b. anyone have one, or know of a shop in town that has 'em in stock? I've checked youngsguns and pdhsc, neither have a used one
10/16/2008 5:50:23 PM
10/16/2008 10:20:37 PM
^^ any reason why you wouldnt want a NIB one? Not many people sell theirs.
10/16/2008 11:08:27 PM
price, mainly a new 75 is $461 at PDHSC, and a new P-01 is $517. Since I was sort of leaning towards the P-01 anyways, if I were buying a new one I'd probably just get that anyone else have thoughts on a CZ 75 vs CZ P-01?]
10/16/2008 11:14:33 PM
^ the P-01 has the rail, and has an ambi-decocker, the standard 75 has a manual safety (though there are decocker versions of the 75). The P-01 is a bit more compact The SP-01 combines both the P-01 rail and the full size of the 75, there is both a safety and decocker model. Its a matter of personal preference really, all CZ's are fine choices.

10/18/2008 4:16:14 PM
What work does it need done? If its minor, I will take it.
10/18/2008 4:37:42 PM
^ same here. let us know what work it needs, ill do $100 for it regardless, if its minor work ill do $250 with the mags.
10/18/2008 4:59:49 PM
well, it was built by vulcan, I bought it to tear down to rebuild as a solid stock, It is missing a trigger guard rivet and has a folding stock that is fixed open. A new trigger guard rivet and maybe a new rear stock trunnion and stock, it has a us made fire controll group and the hammer is a lil thicker thanthe original I guess so a little filling down on the hammer to keep the bolt from stiicking and being sluggish, thats what i would do, it functions now but I would suggest those fixes.
