^^ no its not. Not at all. I didnt say Wayne turned the wrong way. I said he COULD have. Unless you know the playbook AND heard the playcall, AND the aubible AND knew what they usually do for that coverage/situation then you cant know[Edited on January 4, 2009 at 1:36 AM. Reason : d]

I swear Rivers moved better on his feet in college. Hell, he was fast enough to catch a TD pass.
1/4/2009 3:20:41 AM
i am sure it had NOTHING to do with the fact that the speed of the college game is much slower

a day old, but good readhttp://www3.signonsandiego.com/stories/2009/jan/03/1s3rivers225014-rivers-takes-mantle-being-man-sd/?zIndex=31319
1/4/2009 4:55:29 PM
good read... but Rivers did step into a ready to go team, all three of those players were on teams that sucked ass before they got there
1/4/2009 4:59:43 PM
yeah that's true. Rivers was lucky to not have to play until SD addressed most of the problems that gave them the #1 pick in 2004.

1/4/2009 5:29:43 PM
^^ just because its "Rivers" doesnt mean its hate. He was lucky enough to come to a team that had a LOT of talent waiting and had gone something like 12-4 and 9-7. That doesnt mean anything bad about Rivers, its just the truth.^ if you are going to troll at least try to make it somewhat realistic
1/4/2009 5:36:15 PM

1/4/2009 5:37:32 PM
San Diego was, and still is, a somewhat dysfunctional organization at the top. no matter how much talent you have, that is going to hurt your team. if you have followed the Chargers over the past couple of years, you've seen the effects of that turmoil.not to mention that some of that talent is now gone and the rest seem to have injury problems.
1/4/2009 6:16:43 PM
same could be said of a lot of organizations... Falcons, Browns, Bengals, Packers, and especially this year, the Cowboys.I dont think anyone is feeling sorry for the Chargers haha[Edited on January 4, 2009 at 6:37 PM. Reason : d]
1/4/2009 6:24:36 PM
if you're equating the Chargers with the Falcons, Browns, Bengals, and Packers... you're just proving the greatness of Philip Rivers. the only one that would be similar might be the Cowboys. and Rivers is better than Romo.
1/4/2009 6:42:05 PM
what? I dont even know what that means. So Tomlinson, Gates, Sproles etc. wouldnt help those teams any? I think they are pretty good players, not sure why you hate them so much.I was just mentioning that lots of organizations in the NFL are dsyfunctional and in a lot worse shape than the Chargers[Edited on January 4, 2009 at 6:56 PM. Reason : d]
1/4/2009 6:55:27 PM
Rivers makes them look good
1/4/2009 6:57:32 PM
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAonce again, if you are going to troll, at least make it realistic. I think LT and Gates were doing pretty good with Brees... no wait, you are right, they sucked
1/4/2009 7:01:11 PM
The only dysfunction I can think of is with the coaching/management.AJ and Marty had a lot of beef that became pretty public knowledge. And then the Chargers lost both of their head coordinators in one off-season to become head coaches elsewhere and had to replace their head coach. And then with Turner the Chargers have caught a LOT of flack every since he took over and a lot even figured he'd be fired this season if not for the resurgence.I know a lot of programs have coaching issues, but you have to admit the Chargers have had a lot of coaching issues the last few years. I mean the only reason P-Riv is the QB of the Chargers right now is because AJ Smith wanted him and decided to let Brees go against Marty's wishes. And don't act like the Chargers have been some powerhouse for years and years, they had the top pick in the draft for a reason. That team was pretty bad, they used the Eli trade to make their team significantly better and they have made some great pick-ups the last few years in the draft and basically the P-Riv draft was the draft that set them on the right course.
1/4/2009 7:04:51 PM
^ what? they were 12-4 one year under Brees. Unless you mean the actual year of the draft and not the year that he actually started. I dont think Rivers has hurt at all, and has helped quite a bit, but I think that LT/Gates/Brees were the ones that started things going. If they were that bad he wouldnt have sat on the bench for two years.[Edited on January 4, 2009 at 7:09 PM. Reason : d]
1/4/2009 7:07:02 PM
The year before they got Rivers they went 4-12.The year after they drafted Rivers they went 12-4.I wasn't saying that P-Riv was the ONLY reason they are becoming a great team, but that year changed their structure. In 2003 Gates had a so-so year and really came out in 2004.That team had some talent prior to 2004 but that year sparked a lot. You just made it sound like P-Riv waltzed into a loaded team, when in fact P-Riv was coming in with a lot of young guys that had a lot of potential and have turned out to be a lot of great players. And no I don't think P-Riv is making LT or Gates look good, but he's making his WR's look good(none of those guys are legit #1's) and he's making teams respect the pass and open up lanes for LT and Sproles.
1/4/2009 7:17:55 PM
I agree with the WRs... and I said I wasnt referring to the year he was drafted but instead the year when he actually started. and I didnt say he walked onto a great team, I said that once he actually started everything else was already in place (except the already noted WRs). Its not like Gates, LT, Turner, etc all sucked under Brees.[Edited on January 4, 2009 at 7:21 PM. Reason : d]
1/4/2009 7:19:22 PM
who said anything about hating LT, Gates, or Sproles?you said Rivers took over a "ready to go team". as i pointed out, that perception just isn't as true as you would like it to be. i never said the chargers were in the worst shape. but the past couple of years, there has been this false perception of overall talent for the chargers that just isn't there.a "ready to go team" does not have the issues and turmoil that the chargers have had the past few years.
1/4/2009 7:21:18 PM
its as ready to go as you are going to get with a new starting QB - having the best RB, the best TE, a damn good O-line, and maybe the best backup RB... that is about as loaded as you can get for a team that starts a new QB. Usually if a team is bringing in a new QB they also have a LOT more problems as wellits not like he looked around and had the talent of the 49ers, Falcons, Lions etc. I swear you people will argue ANYTHING. Would you rather Rivers go to a complete shit team? why? that makes no sense. Damn I wish he was on the Lions! Poor old Roethlisberger! he got drafted by the Steelers!Man I hope the rest of the team sucks for Russell Wilson next year, that would be AWESOME![Edited on January 4, 2009 at 7:32 PM. Reason : d]
1/4/2009 7:22:28 PM
I swear you people Jaybee1200 will argue ANYTHING.are you still living in 2006? because things changed after that which you are having trouble understanding. "everything else" was no longer in place.i think your frustration about peyton and the colts choking in the playoffs to an underdog for two straight years is getting in the way. AJ Smith has made some poor draft decisions the past couple of years. he let some talent go that should have been re-signed. he re-signed some guys that probably shouldn't have. the coaching issues have already been stated. you keep bringing up LT and Gates but they have been battling injuries for two years. it's not hard to understand. not sure why you insist on trying to argue about it.like i said, your frustration is showing.

idiot trolls. Completely delusional.Every one said Manning had to win a super bowl. I said, when he wins one, you will all claim thats not enough now... and what has happened? No frustrations here at all. So, according to your own logic, Rivers sucks cause he hasnt won one and Trent Dilfer is the man. Yeah, makes total sense. "underdog" 1 point underdog on the road in the NFL, and the spread had fluctuated down to even and back and forth before the game and the Chargers were a higher seed. Dont know why you think the Chargers suck, I think they are a good team and I assumed they would win against the Colts. Game was a lot closer than I thought it would be.I am through with you two, trolls are annoying and no one gets anywhere. No matter what someone else says you will always go the opposite. I've lost patience for this chit chat shit.[Edited on January 4, 2009 at 9:19 PM. Reason : d]

god damn you are dense. you have posted some real "head scratchers" in this threadhow do you come up with some of this shit out of left field? this frustration is hurting your reading comprehension.who thinks the chargers suck? you obviously didn't comprehend what i wrote. now you are on some tangent about manning and one superbowl not being enough.. rivers sucks and trent dilfer is the man?? where do you get this stuff? who said that?and yes, the chargers were the underdogs both years. vegas is for gamblers. don't base you idea of underdog solely on some vegas spread. i knew you would do that.you do understand why the chargers were the higher seed right? or should we explain it to you?take a deep breath... the frustration will subside.

BTW...listen to the BS Report on Page 2. He does a nice slobbing of Rivers' nob. Saying that he takes either him or Eli as the QB he trusts the most in the playoffs right now.Said he liked Rivers' performance in the game against Indy and that he was a "football player" and made "football plays." Never heard or seen him talk good about Philip before.
