I'm contemplating starting an actual "club," or at least some time and place when people with nothing better to do might want to sit around, drink, and talk zombies. At the very least I have a facebook group, thus fulfilling the prophecy that one day the fate of all humanity would rest in the hands of facebook.
2/26/2007 8:06:59 PM
one of you will get drunk and think it's funny to go to the group dressed as a zombie and the rest of the people will shoot him
2/26/2007 8:08:28 PM
Did ya do the speech yet and if so how did it go?
2/26/2007 8:49:42 PM
No, we haven't had the speech day yet.And actually, BigMan, it's funny you should say that...last Friday I was working the door at my bar, and two people dressed as zombies came up...if they hadn't yelled before they crossed the street, I would have killed both of them with blunt force trauma to the head.

Yea, I imagine the real thing would be alot harder.not to mention the futility of building a fort and fighting them head on.

as if it wasn't easy enough, the baretta is like the automatic win gun.

I have scouted out a new fortress near campus that I think is in my aspects superior to UT. I don't want it to be compromised by a bunch of desperate fools outside of the core group who try to get in and take advantage of my superior planning, though, so I won't identify it publicly. I'll simply say that it has an easily secured outside space with room for vehicles, a wide range of maintenance equipment and material suitable for armor and barricades, and a large supply of water already present. Food is still an issue but it is near enough to other sources.I'm not abandoning the UT idea, though. If anything this means we are now capable of keeping double the survivor group. The two buildings should be able to communicate with handwritten signs and binocculars, in fact.

Clarion Hotel?Haha...That last stand game has me hooked, if only because video games where you kill waves of undead are too appealing for me.PS: If you like cooperative zombie mess-making: http://www.zombiehorde.comIt's harder to find a server these days, but if you use a "zh*" filter for maps in CS:Source, a few servers should pop up. It can be a great deal of fun, or a complete rape-fest depending on who you play with.[Edited on May 26, 2007 at 12:48 PM. Reason : ]
5/26/2007 12:28:23 PM
the Clarion Hotel is one place I've always thought of going. The imax theater would be a good place too if it didn't have so much damn glass. It's surrounded by big fences and you could barricade more and there is only a single way to get up to the top of the projection room that could easily be destroyed, and it would be a good place to hold down. Also, you could escape to exploris school if necessary.]
5/26/2007 1:13:52 PM
The Clarion is not the one I am thinking of, no.And I've been playing Zombie Master for Half-Life 2 a lot lately. The concept is good: nobody actually plays the zombies, but one person is sort of in control of the zombies, where they spawn and some of their behavior, and environmental factors.
5/26/2007 1:51:21 PM
WRAL's building?I just thought about that one a bit. It should have fuel for the chopper too...
5/26/2007 2:46:10 PM
DH Hill? hahahaPlenty of reading material!
5/26/2007 2:48:33 PM
Quit trying to guess the thing! It's not like I'm going to tell you even if you get it right. I will say, though, that it is far less visible than any of those places, which would make terrible hideouts besides.

All of the EMBASSIES are in Washington, DC. I think there is at least one Mexican and Canadian CONSULATE in NC, but I could be wrong.
5/26/2007 2:59:25 PM
Ehh fuck it then. I don't think it would be super feasible to drive up to DC in case of a zombie invasion for a good place to hide. Highways would probably be filled with wrecked cars and dead people (and undead people). The coolest thing would be to travel east to find somewhere accessible only by ferry. Bring twenty of your armed closest friends and clean out the island, then barricade, patrol, and develop the thing, sending out parties to collect fuel tankers and such periodically to build your shit up.Now, this is assuming they don't pull some shit like in Land of the Dead and just walk through the sound to get to you.Still, find a good enough spot in the sounds of NC and you would have some farm-worthy land, probably a decent amount of resources, including those that you would need to live in the country, and, depending on the size of the island, some communication equipment and travel equipment that could allow for expeditions to areas where supplies are known to be plentiful. I'd say try the outer banks, but I know a hurricane would probably fuck up whatever you were doing there pretty easily (where in the sounds of NC you might not get QUITE as toasted).
5/26/2007 3:13:35 PM
^ lol clean out the island. Get rid of everyone that was originally there
5/26/2007 4:09:47 PM
Outer banks would be a good idea, lots of fish to eat and lots of places that would be fairly isolated. Isolation is the key, not a stronghold. Getting there after the outbreak would be the problem. As mentioned many times before, driving on highways would be fairly difficult due to scattered cars and probably a large population of undead. If anyone knows how to fly small planes, it might be possible to make it out to a small private airstrip. Just another reason to get a pilot's license eh? Obviously the people that live on said islands would probably be in a panicked state and would probably try and get rid of non-undead people trying to get to their island.
5/26/2007 4:28:11 PM
That's why you'd bring all of your heavily armed friends. Let us stay here or you die!
5/26/2007 5:12:20 PM
I think one of the keys here is knowing how to operate just about any vehicle you need, whether it be plane, truck, car, motorcycle... traveling by dualsport bike through highways would be key as you could get in and around stopped vehicles, plus full leathers and a helmet would be a good defense against zombie bites. Having a aeronautical map set woudl not be bad either as it woudl point out airstrips both comercial and private, and possible locations of small planes which would be a good location to hit laters for possible fuel stops.
5/26/2007 8:47:45 PM
Based off of Day of the Dead, I would say that a small helicopter would be the best vehicle (especially if you had said aeronautical charts), but I think helicopter pilots would be rare.[Edited on May 26, 2007 at 8:59 PM. Reason : ]

Do you think anyone in north Dakota would even notice a zombie invasion?
6/3/2007 10:48:44 PM
the island idea is pretty good. I would just be worried about the whole 'zombies walking under the sea' to the island thing. It all depends on if they actually can when the outbreak actually occurs.
6/3/2007 11:02:41 PM
i'd go to the arctic. it's pretty much a perfect environment. slow them down even more - especially if they're fast zombies. use avalanches and deep snow drifts to your strategic advantage. stay warm - stay alive. use the elements plus plenty of ammo.
6/3/2007 11:04:56 PM
Yeahumquick question:How the hell are you going to get to the arctic, or to any particular island, or anywhere to speak of that's not within walking distance of here if the zombie invasion strikes tomorrow?I mean, just curious...it's not as though we've discussed this issue ad nauseum on every other page of this thread...
6/3/2007 11:28:00 PM
If Mitch’s was not compromised it would be a good start esp if the outbreak happened late at night early morning. All of the shops should be shut down and you would be able to access them from the roof. The trick would be to tap into all the food sources and stash them before the looting started.Does anyone know if they lock up the parking under the bowling ally at night?[Edited on June 3, 2007 at 11:31 PM. I just read a Stephen King short story called "Home Delivery." It's mostly about this lady who lives on a small island off the coast of Maine (of course) and how her lobsterman husband died at sea. But in the end there's a zombie attack. In this story everybody comes back from the dead, not just the recently deceased.Luckily the island only had one graveyard, with lots of empty coffins b/c of people dying at sea. So the townsfolk put up a watch surrounding the graveyard, and blasted the shit out of the zombies when they came up.I think we can all learn from "Home Delivery". Maine isn't very populated anyway, so there's not a big chance that zombies would make it across the sound. And since the zombie wave didn't strike everywhere at once, the townsfolk had time to prepare.
6/5/2007 10:23:29 AM
^camping the cemetery wouldn't help you if the zombies were already out.
6/5/2007 10:27:36 AM
Assuming the outbreak doesn't happen everywhere at once, you will probably have time to prepare.
6/5/2007 10:52:30 AM
In light of the recent TB case I could see how it would spread fast.

My friend’s zombie movie should be finished soon and have the editing complete sometime next year. I work with some of the people making this at the vet clinic, one of them is the husband of one of the vet clinic’s employees, the other is a manager of the apartment complex I’m in & usually has zombie toys on his desk when I go to pay the rent. Here is a sample short they did:http://www.magictwangerproductions.com/family.shtmlEmo chick commits suicide, and thus becomes a zombie. Heeeeeere's ZOMBIE!!!Part of this stylish head wound and flowing blood was from an encounter with that dumpster... and they just worked around it to enhance the appearance for their zombie look.Apparently they’ve also got some funding from a company out in one of those western states, I forget which, and they’ve got a few locally known actors & some guy who has worked with Denzel Washington. The first public showing will be somewhere in downtown Carrboro next year. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=124467218Join this group if you wanna help spread the word about their movie.About their company:
