How will we live on?
How can we exist afterward?
It leaves me thinking
What is the ultimate impact of life?

I can't fathom this situation
Eternal, and not even being aware
How is it possible to see it
Any other way?

Upon pondering this
How can we all, as humans
Get stuck in ruts, get fat, lazy
Don't attempt to live life to the fullest?

But then, again, why does life
End with death?
I just can't see this correlation
Can you?

What is the ultimate state of humanity
To produce offspring?
To further the gene pool?
What is the ultimate goal
Of this thing called life
If there is permanent death?

How can it really be perceived
As having an ultimate point?
Especially when any type
Of an afterlife can't be proven?

How do we know what happens?
Is it a journey or a destination?
I can't help but feel it is the latter
And I can't help but feel fear...
