Purvis apparently visited UCONN instead. But the Martin twins (2014, Caleb and Cody, not Miguel and Frank) were here, supposedly.

What basketball player doesn't have a good time at UNC?

We had better get at least two signatures during the fall period. Time to start committing, kids.

"Senior small forward T.J. Warren is coming home this weekend for his official visit to NC State.

The high-scoring Warren attended NC State's home football opener Sept. 3 against Liberty, and he was able to meet with the Wolfpack coaches Aug. 3 for an unofficial visit while being joined by his parents.

Warren grew up in Durham and later moved to Raleigh. He collected at least 15 scholarships during the recruiting process, but has whittled it down to five schools. NC State will get the chance to make a strong impression on his first official visit.

"I want the NC State fans to be ready for when I'm on campus this weekend," Warren said. "It would feel good [if they start chanting his name]."

Warren is no stranger to NC State, but hopes to enhance his relationship with coach Mark Gottfried this weekend and hang out with some of the other recruits. Senior combo guards Rodney Purvis and D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera, and Wolfpack point guard commit Tyler Lewis will all be on unofficial visits Saturday.

"I'm very excited about getting back to N.C.," Warren said. "It's going to be fun to be with those guys this weekend and experience the campus with those guys.

"I want to see the coaching staff and be able to talk to them more. I want to build more of a relationship with them and be with them, basically."

Warren, the son of former NCSU forward Tony Warren Sr., began his recruiting relationship with NC State in early summer going into his sophomore year at Durham (N.C.) Riverside High. He attended the Wolfpack elite camp and was offered by then coach Sidney Lowe.

Warren has since moved on to first Raleigh Word of God and currently Wolfeboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy, while NC State has brought in Gottfried to be the head coach. Through it all, Warren has always been interested in the Wolfpack. Warren was impressed when Gottfried and two assistant coaches came to Brewster Academy shortly after he settled in mid-September.

"That meant a lot when the whole coaching staff came up to see me," Warren said. "They really surprised me to see me so early. I was excited. It makes feel like that I'm their No. 1 priority for 2012. It's a big thing for me."

Warren blossomed this spring after a solid junior season. His scoring prowess at all three levels — driving to the basket, pulling up for mid-range jumpers or knocking down three-pointers — helped him climb the rankings and earn new scholarships.

Rivals.com ranked Warren the No. 23 overall player and No. 6 small forward, while North Carolina and Kentucky jumped into his recruitment with offers during or shortly after the July evaluation period. Georgetown and Florida remain in his top five, but Warren hasn't set up official visits for either school. He'll be going to North Carolina Oct. 8 and Kentucky Oct. 15.

Warren's ability to create offense, rebound and provide a physical presence at small forward could earn him early playing time in college.

"That is what I do, and to do that in my hometown, would be really cool," Warren said. "Whatever happens, happens."

Warren hopes to watch NC State play a few games this season under the new staff and will likely verbally commit following the November signing period.

"It's very important to me because I want to see how they operate their system," Warren said. "I want to see how they control their players on and off the court.

"I know quite a few of the players like C.J. Leslie and Lorenzo Brown. They just tell me to make the best decision for me and to not let anyone pressure me. They also talk about how State is the best situation for me, along with the coaching staff."

Warren remembers watching former NC State wing Julius Hodge play for the Wolfpack, and eventually got to meet him and play pickup basketball against him. Tony Warren Sr. is a regular for home NC State basketball games at the RBC Center.

"I can't even remember my first [Wolfpack memory], but I know I was really so young," Warren said. "I grew up watching NC State basketball games back when Julius Hodge was playing. Julius was the man at NC State, and was big man on campus. He dominated back then. It feels good for me that he hypes me up now."

Warren and Brewster Academy are scheduled to play in Durham on Dec. 17. It's unknown whether Warren will have made a college decision by then, but Brewster will definitely be loaded with talent this season.

"The community is very nice at Brewster and everyone loves me," Warren said. "I feel comfortable up here. This is a good experience for me to get away from home and be away for a school year.
"

Quote :
"Rodney Purvis of Raleigh Upper Room Christian Academy has confirmed that he'll be at the Georgia Tech game Saturday, joining T.J. Warren, who is on his official visit. Those two will be joining fellow seniors D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera and commit Tyler Lewis.

Junior wings Josh Hart and Stanford Robinson from Maryland have long planned unofficial visits this weekend, and both will be in attendance for sure.

Three other juniors and a sophomore could also be coming, but they are working out the details."

Well that's a nice article. Getting Warren would more than make up for losing Graham. And he wouldn't affect Purvis (who I don't think we'll get, but you never know), Smith-Rivera, or Henderson. I actually think him and Henderson could be a combo deal...which I'm definitely OK with. Add a solid big man and it's an awesome class.

wait a second.................wat??

Have you ever been to a State game where we get absolutely demolished? You do know how ridiculously awful our fanbase is right, ESPECIALLY when we lose badly. You don't think that is going to affect their decision? You don't think that 50,000 people booing and screaming profanity at our football team will make an impression on what will happen to them if they come to State and fail?

Sorry but I disagree.

NCSU - the only place with bad fans.

Most other schools are the same way... except their 50,000+ fans eventually stop showing up at some point.

State fans are loyal and extremely pessimistic. South Carolina fans (before they got good) were loyal and for some reason overly optimistic. Maybe we need counseling as a fan base to change our outlook.

^ I would say our pessimism isn't without merit though. Very rarely do our teams meet/exceed expectations. And by expectations I mean those laid out by the more respected members of the sports media and not the looney tunes over on Pack Pride.

i swear, the dude that has sat behind me the last few years at CF lives to bitch. it's like he's only happy when he's sulking. the only thing that ever comes out of his mouth is bitching and moaning, no matter how much we're winning by. oh, and "move the chains, move the chains, wolf, wolf wolf!"

The 6-foot-4 guard is expected to choose from among N.C. State, Louisville, Connecticut and Virginia Commonwealth, according to Raleigh Upper Room Christian coach Avie Lester.
Purvis is ranked among the top 20 prospects in the country in most national recruiting lists. He can play point guard or shooting guard and has tremendous speed.
He had committed to Louisville, but later decided to consider other options.
He has made official visits to Connecticut, N.C. State and N.C. Central."

yeah, but in CJ's defense, he is not exactly a prototypical anything ... so making a transition onto a team that really didnt have a clear understanding of how to play together in the first place, made that transition even more rough.

CJ will turn out fine, as long as he continues to work hard ... as will Rodney ... if he commits to us, of course
