What are the cards that you should almost always fold on? I have heard about the 2-7, any others?

I fold a lot of hands pre-flop. so, even 10-9 i would probably fold.

When the AK hits on the flop, it does make that a tough hand

I don't know why. I guess it's because it seems like it should be a decent hand to play (especially when it's suited) and unless you connect hard with it you've got a very deceptively weak hand. Loose players can play anything between J7-AJ without risking or raising too much so they can hit two pair on you if you pair your J. If you pair your K you're gonna be behind a lot of the time too. It can leave you with big inside and outside draws to the nut straight. And even when you do connect hard you're probably not gonna get paid off for it which makes playing it even less valuable. It's just not an easy hand for me to play for some reason.

I probably play QJ before I play KJ just because it's strength is so much more defined. It's not supposed to be a good hand but it's a helluva lot easier for me to play it simply because it gets me into less trouble.

The only time playing it is actually valuable is when you flop a straight and can check a couple times. People almost never see that coming but that's only because it almost never happens.

Because it's harder to get fooled into thinking you have a good hand. When I pair the Q or J it's a lot easier to know where I am in the hand, personally. It has better straight possibilities. It's not dominated by AK which people tend to play too aggressively. And when you hit your big hands (high straights, flushes) you're more likely to get paid off by people calling with top pair/top two pair or even trips.

I also should add that I don't ever play more than 4 tables and even then it's mostly tourneys so I'm not playing formulaic poker. I have time to watch and analyze the people I play against.

Hardest hand to play is JJ in a 3b pot.

Atleast for me.

that was an awful lot of effort to explain why you think KJ is a tough hand to play.

KJ is an easy fold 95% of the time unless you are playing like 3 handed.

Why even waste the time? I'd rather have 56o than KJ in a full ring game.

dont get me wrong, im all for a lively discussion i just think you need to work on your starting hand selection.

KJ sucks in a full ring game, just fold it and use your time pondering +EV situations

well like i said, i'm usually in sit n gos and tourneys. i just got to the point where i can properly finance playing in 25NL as far as bankroll goes. i don't think playing in 10NL or lower is fun AT ALL and the swings in profit are ridiculous because most people don't take it seriously at all.

but i think we've all taken a shot at QJ or KJ when it folds around to us in the cutoff and we make a raise. button calls, BB calls. you just found yourself in the middle in a three-way pot with one or two players who could be holding anything. i mean, i fold QJ/KJ all the way to maybe like cutoff or maybe one before depending on the table. it's not like i'm playing it under the gun and get myself into all these terrible situations all the time. maybe in the past, but not now

I dont play online much and when I do its certainly not full table NL ring games.

But I highly doubt KJo can be played with any worthwhile +EV from the CO.

I'm telling you, just fold the hand and concentrate on closing other leaks or exploiting other angles.

Just 90 man tournaments with a small bounty for knocking people out.

They have buy-ins ranging from 3-48. They are deep stack structure (3k starting chips) and turbo, so short levels. But the play in them is so terrible in the beginning, and then you just push bot and play well ICM-wise late at it's pretty easy to make atleast 30% ROI in them + maybe an extra 5% or so from the knockouts adding up.

There are quite a few people i've looked up on sharkscope who are going to very comfortably make 100k this year grinding the $12 buyins through the $48s. My goal is just to play them for a month or so and make an extra 10k to have to play with in Vegas.

To win a 90 man it takes ~2hrs.

The 180s on Stars are sweet too -- they have the 4/11/22 non turbos that take like 3.5-4hrs and the 2/7/11/36 turbos that take like 1.5hrs.

You can play more of them. People tend to play [a lot] worse in them because they think the blinds going up so fast means they need to get more chips quicker. It's the same as a regular tournament only you don't get to see as many hands. But when you hit that rare tourney where you're getting all the cards it plays out the same way.

I play turbos for the hourly.

My roi in pretty much all forms of turbos is less for sure -- but the amount of volume I am able to put in outweighs it.

so Im playing this game last night and I've got Ace-2 in the big blind. There's a small raise from late position aggro and I call and we take the flop heads up.

Flop comes down 6,3,2 and I check/raise and he calls. I forget what the turn was but I think a 10 so I bet half the pot and he calls. River is a 6 to pair the board and I check and he checks behind.

I flip the 2 over confidently and act as though I expect to win the pot (I love showing extreme confidence in showdown with weak made hands as I think it gives me a good table image).

It turns out in this guy's hand are not cards but two chicken nuggets which he declares are shaped like pocket 9's.

In my shock the entire table agrees that these are in fact pocket 9's and the dealer pushes him the pot.

Then I woke up in Charlotte and realized I had to be at work in Durham at 9 AM.

How did I play all streets?
