^But its a little more difficult to determine the pace of the game through defense. You can full-court press and play a "suffocating" man-to-man defense rather than a zone...but I'd guess to say that your offense influences the pace of the game a lot more than the defense does. No matter what defense we faced (exception of the zone of course), Herb was still going to run a Princeton style offense, thus an opposing teams defense barely affecting the pace of the game.

That's why tempo for a single game isn't very meaningful. But taken as an average of 30+ games, you get a really good idea of the pace of a team. Take out all the Notre Dame or Sendek or VCU outliers and you're left with your offense and defense versus a pretty typical schedule.

I was just puzzled by the wording. I've never seen a team ranked as the #__ fastest team in the country. Just caught my eye. I feel like that's what I hear when college football guys talking SEC teams being the "fastest" in the country. Can't remember seeing it in relation to basketball the way it was used in that article.

My bottom line was that I, personally, have never seen (or don't remember seeing) a team being labeled as "# ranked fastest team" in the country. I hear "fast paced" in relation to offense all the time. I hear "fast" in regards to individual athletic ability. That is why that description stuck with me.

You explained how it is measured and I agree with it. I just think "fast paced" would sound better or at least make more sense to me.

Not sure anything positive can come out of Sid being fired/stepping down midseason. I'm sure Yow has privately told him it's over, but you let him finish the season out and don't publicly embarass the man.

^ Very true. The best case scenario would be if Lowe announces he is resigning at the end of the season fairly soon (Yow may be working on negotiations for that right now). That would allow us to publicly start the coaching search and maybe get a head start on the coaching carousel.
