Shane Ryan takes down a Shrike-type:
Why Won't Clinton Democrats Like Sally Albright Stop Lying About Bernie Sanders?
https://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2017/01/why-wont-liberals-like-sally-albright-stop-lying-a.html
Quote :
"There’s a very odd and persistent pathology in the minds of liberals and neoliberals who supported Hillary Clinton during the Democratic primary: They hate Bernie Sanders. Sure, they hate Trump too—a lot—but man, they really, really hate Bernie. This can seem confusing, because as most of us know, the primary ended back in June. They’re a bit like that Japanese soldier who hid in the Filipino jungle for 27 years after World War Two, not realizing his country had surrendered, except for one key difference: The Clinton-ites won!

Yet victory hasn’t dimmed their deep antipathy for Bernie, and they will do anything to discredit him, ethics be damned. Here’s why it matters: There’s a fight going on for the heart of the party, and until the fight is resolved, opposing Trump will be that much harder. To beat centrism, and bury it in the graveyard of history, it’s important to understand how it operates on the propaganda level.

I'm equally baffled by people like Shrike who are somehow convinced Sanders cost Clinton the election (never mind he was a pretty passionate surrogate for her) as I am those who supported Sanders but then voted Trump in the general.

For the record, I do believe that Bernie poisoning the well of millennials against Hillary is one of the many reasons she lost.

The Clinton Democrats lost the election. Not Sanders, not the Russians, not the Trump machine. Clinton Democrats did more to rile up the conservative base than Trump did on his own. It seems that insulting people only energizes them rather than discourages them. The never-Trump Republicans and those who just kind of liked Trump but didn't initially care enough to vote for him...I'd bet everything in my wallet if we were able to see polls on those kinds of people they'd say they ended up voting for Trump because of the absurdist pompous attitude of Clinton supporters. Not Clinton herself, just the people pushing hardest for her.

Where is that guy?

Independent argument? Laughable.

Every time anyone criticized his views, he straight up abandoned argument and went ad hominem ad nauseam.

Furthermore, he literally FELL OFF THE FACE OF TWW after his savior lost the election.

"Aug 2016- Bernie Sanders does not like fancy-schmancy things. He isn’t a huge fan of gazillionaires, tuxedos or any of the highfalutin trappings of society’s economic ills. This, of course, made him a hero among the country’s growing socialist movement. So when news came that the former presidential candidate bought a $575,000 vacation home for his family, the hypocrisy police were ready to pounce in all caps.

The Sanders family’s “new waterfront crib has four bedrooms and 500 feet of Lake Champlain beachfront,”"

Bernie is still well off, but he's more grounded, financially, than most politicians, which was what he was trying to sell.

It would be difficult to go to Washington poor and stay poor. That's an image you would have to want, and you would have to constantly maintain that image, what with all the money being thrown around up there.

There are 136 million housing units in the US and 126 million households. In a perfect social democracy, the excess 10 million homes could still be purchased, and would likely be purchased by members of the top 5% income which Bernie is a hard working member of. We have no problem with people who work hard and earn a high income spending their money. Despite what conservatives say, we are not against freedom.

When the medical bills and college loans come due, when the schools are failing because they can't afford to pay teachers what they deserve, when the roads are in terrible shape and there are no new advances in public transportation, people refuse to blame themselves for continuously voting for lower taxes.

when over half of tax dollars go to social programs of little to no benefit of actual taxpayers, it's hard not to vote for lower taxes.

Interesting to me that the NYT article about the Russian bots stated that a lot of the social media noise you heard about Bernie voters saying they'd rather have Trump was fake in large part and part of a propaganda campaign.

I mistakenly fell for it and consider myself pretty internet savvy. Imagine those who aren't...

So are you back to insinuating they rigged the election or not? because how else could Trump have won the rust belt without populist independents who were desperate for relief after 8 years of struggle?

Bernie Sanders voters have gone on CNN panels talking about how they voted for Trump. It seemed like a clear path for those who wanted change first and foremost.

After I learned how wrong I was, I saw some numbers about how more HRC '08 voters went McCain than Bernie voters went Trump. It's a fallacy.

And I've never insinuated or said the general election was rigged in any way. Influenced by Russian propaganda, yes but people falling for fake information isn't rigging in the truest sense.

Well the overall numbers don't matter. All that matters are the ones in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Throw in Ohio and those are the places where a large number of people who were for Obama and then Bernie voted for Trump. Obviously, the liberal elites on the coasts who supported Bernie (who you are thinking about) were progressives that ended up voting for Hillary, staying home, or voting for Stein.

Well then I don't understand the point of your last post. If Bernie voters didn't vote for Trump, then how the hell did she lose the states she was supposed to win and why is it important to point out the fact that you "fell for it"? I'm lost.

Because she didn't have a message beyond "look how terrible Trump is." She gave no vision for the future of America, and the rust belt needed assurances that the next president would have their backs. It wasn't about liberals and conservatives...Bernie said he would fight for health care and a living wage, Hillary said it was a pipe dream. Trump went in and promised they wouldn't lose their jobs (despite not having a plan to actually do it), while Hillary didn't even bother to show up in Wisconsin and Michigan.

Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania. 4 states totalling 64 electoral votes. Bernie likely would have carried Wisconsin and Michigan, and Ohio voted against Trump in their primary and could have been swayed.

There are definitely ways it could go poorly for Bernie, and I'm a little hesitant about the whole thing myself. I'm kinda worried that the audience will really eat up the "dats sochulism tho" attacks that you know are gonna be the entirety of Graham/Cassidy's arguments.

That doesn't explain how "Medicare for all" is polling at nearly 50% approval while the Graham-Cassidy bill is polling at like 25% approval.

The choice to pay for your own doctor would still exist. Same as sending your kid to a private school instead of public school. It took many many years of fighting to create and sustain a public school system, and I guarantee the overwhelming majority of Americans support having it now. Health care is on that path.
