Are these people stupid or what? Theres a fundamnetal flaw in their strategy. They want to stop trump but they don't want to offer one alternative. They want to offer 3. Romney said something like "we can't nominate trump, we must nominate rubio, kasich, or cruz". Giving people 3 choices is exactly why trump is so successful. They don't have the guts to pick one candidate.
3/3/2016 11:41:12 AM
looks like the establishment is choosing Rubio as their man
3/3/2016 11:43:37 AM
Well all politicians are flawed in one way or another.Basically he's the best conservative option who can win. In a nutshell, he's a smart guy who can articulate conservatism better than anyone else in recent electoral history. He's big on free market principles and opposed to protectionism and has considered the arguments pro/con on these issues his whole life unlike some other candidates. He's also shown a willingness to confront the status quo which I appreciate. And he's argued successfully in front of SCOTUS many times which I also find very impressive.
3/3/2016 11:46:19 AM
do you think he will be able to build consensus in a congress that really dislikes him?
3/3/2016 11:53:25 AM
Yes. It's one thing to dislike a freshman Senator, it's a much different thing to dislike the head of your party and attempt to impede his agenda - assuming R's remain the majority after November.[Edited on March 3, 2016 at 12:09 PM. Reason : the president is considered the head of the party, not the majority leader in the Senate.]
3/3/2016 11:58:50 AM
oh, so like how Cruz supported McConnell's policies in congress[Edited on March 3, 2016 at 12:02 PM. Reason : and definitely never called him a democrat or tried to block his plans or anything like that]
3/3/2016 12:02:25 PM
Rs are going to lose tons of seats because people won't be able to use the straight ticket feature
3/3/2016 12:14:55 PM
sounds like a brokered convention is what the GOP is shooting for right now. but *if* Trump actually gets the delegates, what would their play be?
3/3/2016 12:16:29 PM
3/3/2016 12:21:20 PM
Never met the guy and despite his personalized daily emails asking me for money I doubt he knows much about me either. I have no real opinions on him as a person, he's just a vehicle for the policies I think best for myself and the country. To be clear, I do not actually find him as handsome as some of my prior comments may have lead people to believe.
3/3/2016 12:31:20 PM
fair enough
3/3/2016 1:36:22 PM
LITTLE MARCO LITTLE MARCO RUBIOLITTLE MARCO RUBIO WHO NEVER SHOWS UP TO VOTEAND THATS WHY THE PEOPLE OF FLORIDA DON'T EVEN LIKE HIM

3/4/2016 12:37:03 AM
All I know about the debate is that Trump doesn't have a small penis, hands maybe still small thoughAlso Ted Cruz ate a booger
3/4/2016 6:24:28 AM
Finally. Seems like the gloves finally came off. I knew there were still a bunch of attacks left in the bag on Trump. Sure he still has the racist and fascist votes locked up, but if he makes it to the general we got to see a taste of what's to come. The TrumpU stuff seemed pretty effective, and it should be. No one likes a grifting plutocrat with an army of defense lawyers working the system. It's the definition of what a lot of people feelIs wrong with this country (once you get outside of the republican base).
3/4/2016 6:51:29 AM
^^^ You spelled dystopian incorrectly. As in, "Cruz will directly affect and restrict my freedoms, ruin the environment, and continue American's journey into a [dystopian] corportism economy."
3/4/2016 7:07:48 AM
Looks like Hillary is going to find her way into office out of blind luck. What is wrong with us?
3/4/2016 8:37:27 AM
Surely you can give her a little more credit than blind luck? But I agree, what is wrong with us?
3/4/2016 8:40:20 AM
Well i mean she's not getting in because shes doing everything right, thats for sure. I mean the fact that theres even some debate between her and bernie friggin sanders should tell you something.[Edited on March 4, 2016 at 8:45 AM. Reason : .]

Finally watching this Fox hit job of a debate. Will be interesting to see how much it affects trumps numbers.[Edited on March 4, 2016 at 9:30 AM. Reason : lol Cruz with his taxes on a post card. We all know how that turns out...][Edited on March 4, 2016 at 9:52 AM. Reason : http://gawker.com/donald-trump-was-set-up-1762814564]

I was wrong. Didn't expect a literal dick measuring contest.
3/4/2016 9:37:02 AM
"the adult in the room" had a great debate. too little too late, but at least he tried dropping that goofy smile after each response.I just want someone to ask Megan Kelly about those brooms she's wearing on her eyelids]

Kasich had a really good showing last night, I might vote for him over Rubio now.
3/4/2016 2:43:23 PM
This is old, but informative:http://www.pbs.org/newshour/updates/john-kasich-believe-candidate-stands-10-issues/While I don't agree with all of his views, he's definitely pretty moderate for a republican on a lot of the issues.
3/4/2016 2:49:06 PM
3/4/2016 3:04:59 PM
3/4/2016 5:52:54 PM
Yep I realize they both differ quite a bit but either of them would be better than Trump or Cruz and Hillary. Kasich just hadn't had much speaking time at any of the debates that I watched but I just liked his attitude and message the other night. He wasn't getting into the lets bash trump circus. I don't claim to follow politics all that much I watch the debates that I can. As someone who would probably be considered independent I'm just trying to find the best of the poor crop of candidates this go round.
3/5/2016 10:59:52 AM
There's no place like Kansas! Cruz wins Kansas!
3/5/2016 5:52:31 PM
looks like he'll get kentucky and maine as well.
3/5/2016 5:53:55 PM
This is really interesting, the absolute Trump freak out from everyone nationally has made Ted Cruz appear to be a reasonable choice. If he pick Kaisch as VP I can see him beating Hillary pretty handily whereas before I would have said he had the worst shot in the general out of everyone.
3/5/2016 6:29:37 PM
he's not going to win the nomination though. his favorable states are running out and the more viable he becomes the harder it will be for them to broker a deal where he concedes to rubio.
3/5/2016 7:07:03 PM
As long as Trump doesn't win FL and OH he is fine and if he can pick up steam people could consolidate around him as the anti Trump candidate. Not saying this will happen or I expect it to but it's the one scenario other than Trump winning that I can see. Rubio isn't going to do it and neither is Kasich (obviously)
3/5/2016 7:56:01 PM
How did Cruz win Maine??? Wtf do they identify with in aChristian ideologist from texas who is a lacky for big oil
3/5/2016 9:37:24 PM
Leading up to it, they say Maine polls terribly for these things. A decent turnout by a candidate's supporters can win them the state.
3/5/2016 10:15:34 PM
it was record turnout 18k+ showed up in maine. if you're trying to stop trump then cruz is the obvious answer.
3/5/2016 10:18:12 PM
Trump is still dominating Florida polls, and the poor showings by Rubio isn't going to help matters. Kasich may take Ohio, but the only way Trump loses Florida is if Rubio drops out. I just don't see that happening.Trump definitely took a beating in the caucuses today, which I would attribute more to his flip-flopping on H1Bs than on the Mitt Romney debacle. It will be interesting to see how Trump reacts to this in his speeches and debates in the coming weeks.
3/5/2016 10:29:12 PM
Well he doesn't do as well as his polls indicate in caucas States vs actual primaries...but I'm not sure that can explain everything
3/5/2016 10:31:48 PM
Supposedly Cruz never really made an attempt at Florida but he just recently opened a bunch of offices there. Could be too little too late but he has momentum and Rubio sure doesn't.

What would give me anxiety if I got anxious but I don't because I'm not a little girl is how important the presidential election has become to so many Americans. We should not view the election of a president (or a governor) as good vs. evil or the biggest threat ever to individual liberties, etc. But this is what happens when the federal government is too large and exceeds its enumerated powers.
3/6/2016 6:23:54 AM
What?
3/6/2016 8:57:43 AM
^^^I don't think the militia wants any anti-gun members, and I'm sure they all vote Republican.
3/6/2016 10:36:01 AM
Huh? I have guns and though consider myself progressive I support gun rights. Just not in the rabid everyone should legally be able to own a M60. I support sensibles gun control measures
3/6/2016 12:22:09 PM
With Nancy Reagan dying, the next GOP debate is going to be unbearable.
3/6/2016 12:39:59 PM
Rubio's blow-out win in Puerto Rico bodes well for him in Florida.

Regarding that blow out win in PR for Sen. Rubio. The Chicago Tribune explains the extremely low turnout vs 2012 - approx. 128K voted in 2012 vs only approx. 27K this year. The results may have been different if another 100K voters had turned out.
