i think Get Right is the best thing Megafaun has ever donethis album is great
9/13/2011 12:00:15 PM
^ that is an epic track, but I actually like track 11 (You are the light) and track 14 (everything exystence) even better. I really hope this album gets the respect and attention it deserves[Edited on September 13, 2011 at 12:03 PM. Reason : g]

BJ Burton, great producer or greatest producer

Bought the new Anthrax today. Haven't listen to much of it yet but seems decent so far.Looking forward to the new Mastodon and Opeth albums coming up in the next two weeks.
9/13/2011 10:57:51 PM
i listen to sirius xm
9/13/2011 11:10:18 PM
I think some of you have said you post on ateaseweb.com. I started a Megafaun thread there trying to get more people to listen to the new album. If you post on ateaseweb, head on over and create some buzz.Flame away, but I'm all about supporting an awesome local act.http://board.ateaseweb.com//index.php?showtopic=235098093

i'll definitely give you a bump tomorrow.btw, search for earlier megafaun threads --- they actually get a lot of love on atase. especially after bon iver blew up and people discovered the connection.

This chick who sings on "everything existence" on the new megafaun sounds like some kind of terrible drunk pirate dog
9/14/2011 12:24:19 PM
^ her voice is a bit odd, but I love that song! Also, my mistake-- the song is "everything", not "everything exystence". The leaked mp3s have the track as "everything exystence" because exystence is the site that leaked it.
9/14/2011 1:02:14 PM
Guess autocorrect on my phone changed it from "exystance" but whatever. I really like the song, I just find her word pronunciation to be really distracting. No one could possibly sing that way naturally, and I fail to see how you could force it and think it sounds good.
9/14/2011 1:14:22 PM
Who is it?
9/14/2011 2:20:38 PM
I know that Heather Mcentire sings on the album, but I'm not sure if it's this song
9/14/2011 2:23:17 PM
It's Frazey Ford. She's in the Be Good Tanyas.[Edited on September 14, 2011 at 2:28 PM. Reason : d]

CANT - Believewhole album is good but this is what turned me onto this Grizzly Bear side project
9/14/2011 10:57:50 PM
^what?
9/14/2011 11:59:14 PM
what do you mean what
9/15/2011 12:19:23 AM
What he said doesn't make sense.
9/15/2011 9:42:54 AM
Megafaun album is nice
9/15/2011 9:45:52 AM
the band CANT, the song Believethe album is goodalso a Grizzly Bear side project
9/15/2011 10:22:52 AM
OH, I thought that was the name of the album, not an individual song. Anyway, Pitchfork gave like a 6; won't be listening.

9/15/2011 3:49:59 PM
project: someone create a collaborative playlist on spotify for bands/songs mentioned in this thread
9/15/2011 4:26:09 PM
^Awesome. Lady Antebellum.
9/15/2011 4:34:40 PM
New Laura Marling record is actually pretty fantastic. To me, it's everything the new Fleet Foxes record strived to be but didn't quite succeed in.
9/17/2011 11:57:52 AM
9/17/2011 12:18:10 PM
I like the Twin Sister record
9/17/2011 12:44:54 PM
^me too. i saw them in CLT a few months ago and they played most of this new stuff. the singer's voice sounds better than on the EPs.also, can't stop listening to wild flag. one of the best straight up rock albums of the year.
9/18/2011 10:01:37 AM
to continue jerking off drive, the soundtrack is awesome.
9/18/2011 7:11:27 PM
Does anybody have the new Atlas Sound yet? If so, Bradford Cox won't release it.
9/18/2011 11:41:31 PM
Megafaun score just released. 7.8. Not too shabby, but honestly, they're going down gradually. Gather Form and Fly got an 8.1 and barely missed BNM. They need to capture some more of that mantra and get a one more tenth about it and do the damned thing.
9/19/2011 1:28:51 AM
New Megafaun album definitely should've gotten BNM. I like Gather, Form and Fly a whole lot, but their new album is by far their best. Not that it necessarily matters. Still, it would've been cool to see them take off nationally with a strong Pitchfork endorsement.[Edited on September 19, 2011 at 10:30 AM. Reason : s]
9/19/2011 10:29:43 AM
Ok, what I said was ridiculous, but on a serious note, I just can't get into Megafaun.

^To be fair, if I recall correctly, what he was upset about was the fact that his label/distributor claimed ownership of the recordings despite the fact that they were bedroom recordings. I understand that that is within the legal rights of the label given the American legal system's understanding of artistic ownership, but I can definitely understand Cox's frustration in such a situation.
9/19/2011 12:44:38 PM
^ he went on a little bitch rant about his fans not being genuine after some kid on atease found his mediafire account that he linked on some blog.that's what i'm referring too--- saying anyone who pilfered the recordings and distributed weren't "real fans" or something to that effect, rather than just laughing at himself being a dumbass and uploading a link that lead directly back to his own non-protected account. he could have password protected those files, whatever he wanted, and still made the original post and link to the material he wanted to disseminate, but instead he came off like a petulant child.
9/19/2011 1:31:50 PM
this "Te Amo" song is pretty fucking good regardless of any of that. dude keeps writing great song after great song.
9/19/2011 1:37:59 PM
I'm usually the worst at remembering what exactly was played during a show and how it sounded, but I definitely remember "Te Amo" being a highlight of his Hopscotch set last year
9/19/2011 1:41:09 PM
^^^Well, I didn't know about all that; that's pretty lame. Guy's a weirdo, but Atlas Sound and Deerhunter definitely rule, so at least there's that.
9/19/2011 2:08:24 PM
for me the highlight of his set was skipping it for Fucked Up
9/19/2011 2:25:01 PM
i really liked Halcyon Digest, but apart from that, not much else of his stuff with Deerhunter or Atlas Sound. i always end up giving it a shot, though.
9/19/2011 3:04:40 PM
"Nothing Ever Happened" is a top-5 song of the decade for me
9/19/2011 3:05:54 PM
^Yeah, that probably holds true for me as well. That song is a-mazing.Still think Microcastle is a better album than Halcyon Digest. Now I wanna hear it.[Edited on September 19, 2011 at 3:22 PM. Reason : d]

New Megafaun is gorgeous sound-wise but I think it's pretty boring; I miss the wacky ideas I expect from a Megafaun record.
9/20/2011 3:47:48 AM
I feel like looking at the cover of this boots electric album is the same as hearing it.
9/20/2011 8:01:44 AM
Random question, but what time can bands play at the Raleigh ampitheater? I thought it was 11pm, but it might be 10. Anybody know?
