really? what's so special about bringing him back?
9/20/2010 8:36:03 PM
He's been tabbed as the replacement since before he took the Marlins job -- well, he and Yost, but Yost is wrapped up.
9/20/2010 8:58:25 PM
Matt Diaz took down a fan that got on the field
9/20/2010 9:26:45 PM
I'd take Torre back if we had a 300MIL payroll and some pitchers on steroids. He was a bum before the yankees hired him.
9/20/2010 9:35:18 PM
Much rather would have lost 13-11Offense will be lucky to put up three runs over the next two games
9/20/2010 10:30:44 PM
Wow some guy named Beachy made the biggest start of the season for the Braves. Guy pitched well given the circumstances, but that damn shitty Braves defense helped sink the ship again. NL East race is over barring a miracle in beating the two Roys (so gay) the next two nights. Time to start rooting hard against the NL West teams. God I hate the damn Phillies. Watching them calmly take over the division and then win a game like tonight reminds me of the Braves in the 90s when you just knew they were going to bury the other teams when clutch time came.
9/20/2010 11:12:45 PM
dang double post. Fuck you Phillies.[Edited on September 20, 2010 at 11:13 PM. Reason : sd]
Last night was hard to watch. We just cannot get the offense going when it matters. Well now I hope we just don't get swept.
9/21/2010 7:25:01 AM
prado's foul was 3 feet from having us sing a different tune. but, so it goes for the braves these last 2 months.
9/21/2010 8:01:42 AM
I hate all things philadelphia.....except always sunny of course
9/21/2010 9:27:58 AM
HEISMAN!
9/21/2010 12:53:19 PM
Diaz said he wanted to spear him but he was worried that he would hurt the guy or hurt himself.Gonzalez striking out with runners on first and third was huge. You've got to put the ball in play in that situation. Its going to be even tougher for us to win tonight. Also another thing to worry about is who the teams in the west are playing this weekSFO @ CHCCOL @ ARISD @ LADEach of those teams could easily sweep their opponents. We may be sitting 2nd or 3rd in the Wild Card race going into the weekend
9/21/2010 1:06:12 PM
Pull Minor and just put the ball on a fuckin teeEvery pitch is belt-high, right over the middle of the plate
9/21/2010 8:09:58 PM
What the hell do you expect to happen when you put two rookie pitchers out there against the best team in the national league. We have fucked ourselves
9/21/2010 8:14:56 PM
Oh yeah, and our offense and defense is atrocious right now....
9/21/2010 8:16:32 PM
Just pulled the stats from MLB.com. The Braves have hit into 131 DPs tonight, that's second in the NL behind the SF Giants.
9/21/2010 8:36:15 PM
131 DPs tonight!?? at least we're getting a lot of guys on base
9/21/2010 8:57:07 PM
how fuckin retarded was McCann/3rdbasecoach right there
9/21/2010 9:03:59 PM
Unless I'm mistaken Mac didn't transform into Michael Bourn over night. He shouldn't even think about going there. At least we're chipping away but it's really hard to beat a team as good as the Phillies with this many mental mistakes. Minor missing that bunt sign earlier likely kept a run off the board.[Edited on September 21, 2010 at 9:08 PM. Reason : a]
9/21/2010 9:08:24 PM
Chicks dig the long ball catcher being thrown out at third by ten feet]
9/21/2010 9:11:02 PM
I turn the game on im happy its 3-2 and the boom the phillies score 2.
9/21/2010 9:22:49 PM
pretty nice to hit your first HR off Halladay
9/21/2010 9:32:06 PM
Freeman with an absolute SHOT off Halladay. Really wish we would have gone Moylan against the right handed Werth instead of leaving Dunn in to face him.
9/21/2010 9:32:39 PM
9/21/2010 9:35:56 PM
another double play. Fantastic.
9/21/2010 9:47:19 PM
I know Prado has been a good hitter, but I guess I was thinking we should have bunted over so McCann would have had a runner in scoring position. Oh well, Braves rule the shitter!!!!
9/21/2010 9:53:04 PM
mclouth sucks. 1 out 1 on.
9/21/2010 10:03:09 PM
braves need to ride the hot streak and slide D. Lee up to 3rd. That or swap Prado and Heyward in lineup and get him some more RBI opportunities
9/21/2010 10:06:05 PM
WelpGoodbye NL East
9/21/2010 10:08:05 PM
i gave up on the east before this series startedim wondering if they can even hang on to the wildcard
9/21/2010 10:13:24 PM
gotta hope the Phillies have clinched when they come back to Atlanta to finish the season and rest some of their starters
9/21/2010 10:18:52 PM
^Braves struggle the most with pitchers that have an ERA above 5.00, we've made the Nationals pitchers look like Cy Young this year. So even if the Phillies rest their big 3, I'm not we could beat them anyway.[Edited on September 22, 2010 at 7:08 AM. Reason : :]
9/22/2010 7:07:54 AM
^^ Wouldn't they be setting up their big 3 vs the braves again? (If the braves make it). The #1 seed automatically plays the Wildcard in the first round regardless if the Braves have a better record than Cinci, right?Nevermind,
9/22/2010 8:38:46 AM
Like I keep saying the Phillies are playing out of the mind. The Braves had no chance coming into this series. On the road, against the hottest team in baseball, facing three of the best pitchers in the NL, plus having to start two rookies in two of the games. The Braves are horrible on the road as well. At least they have not given up the last two nights, but they just cannot get a clutch hit right now. Hopefully they'll win tonight and stave off the NL West teams for another day.
9/22/2010 9:03:28 AM
o/u on runs allowed by Hanson in the first two innings: 3.5I'm going with the over
9/22/2010 7:01:53 PM
hah, only the second inning and already an error. It feels like we've had at least 1 a game for the past month. I took the luxury of looking it up...the only teams with worse fielding percentages than the braves are the pirates, royals, nationals, marlins, and cubs. That's some good company right there
9/22/2010 7:41:54 PM
ok, i'll go ahead and say it. oswalt's gonna throw a perfect game, hanson will throw a no-hitter, but like 3 walks and an error will lead to a 1-0 loss
9/22/2010 7:47:39 PM
9/22/2010 7:49:56 PM
lol. niggas quick. is this game on TV? i'm too lazy to push "guide" on the remote.. and get up to turn it on, and go to a room with a computer..
9/22/2010 7:53:00 PM
SportsouthFuck yourself, McLouthGuy has boned a thousand sliding or diving catches this season
9/22/2010 8:24:53 PM
how can our offense be this bad right now, i don't care how well oswalt has pitched for the phillies. we have just given this shit away, no life whatsoever. bye bye playoffs
9/22/2010 9:16:31 PM
Carlos Ruiz looking a little like A-Rod there
9/22/2010 9:22:30 PM
Fucking christVenters was dead two weeks agoWhy is he still going out there
9/22/2010 9:43:12 PM
FUCK THIS TEAM
9/22/2010 10:01:43 PM
Holy fuck the Phillies are some lucky pieces of shit. Seriously Ibanez's ball to drive in the only run of the game was about inch from being a foul ball. Sucks ass that Bobby won't retire with as a division champion, but hopefully the Braves will be pissed off and beat the shit out of the Nats and Marlins the next 6 games to take control of the wild card. If the Phillies throw their aces against the Braves in that final three game series and they've already clinched, I hope one of the Braves pitchers puts one in the back or arm of Oswalt or Halladay as a big "fuck you". I'll be rooting against the Phillies the rest of this year as if they were the Yankees or Tar Heels. Outside of Utley, the rest of that Phillies team make me want to puke. 18-3 in Sept
9/23/2010 7:29:10 AM
^Ball looked foul to me, let's not forget about the call they got that wasn't even close against the Marlins that won them the game. I think if the Phillies have it clinched they will probably still pitch the same rotation again, however, I think they will only be out there for 60-70 pitches.I feel bad for T. Hanson, for some reason we never give him any run support. I think he should be our #2. He has better numbers than Lowe in just about every category (WHIP, ERA, K, Hits). We really need to sweep the Nationals and Marlins, but doubt that's going to happen. We don't play well against the Nationals (7-8 against them this year) or the Marlins (8-7 against them this year).
9/23/2010 8:09:24 AM
^ It is baffling how poorly the Braves play against the NL East outside of the Mets. Ever since that fucking Eric Gregg shit back in 1997, it seems like the Braves just suck against the Marlins, especially when it really counts. Hanson is the #2. Maybe not on a depth chart on a website or in terms of the day in, day out rotation, but if the Braves make the playoffs and Bobby has a chance to set his rotation (which won't happen) it will be:1. Hudson2. Hanson3. JJ (if healthy)4. Lowe (if necessary although Lowe is pitching better so Bobby could put him ahead of JJ regardless)When we lost Medlen, I did not realize the impact that it would have on the team. Minor has been horrible after a couple decent starts, JJ has been hit and miss with his health, and even damn KK had to come back and get rocked once when Lowe missed a start. If Medlen had still been there, the Braves would still be right there with the Phillies. Oh well. Just hate seeing Bobby go out like this.
9/23/2010 9:27:56 AM
9/23/2010 9:42:34 AM
^^ Yeah losing Medlen has been a big blow. I was like you, I thought we would be ok but its really hurt us. I feel pretty good about the Braves future, we have a lot of young talent. If we can make a couple moves in the off-season we should contend for the NL East next year. We are missing a big bat in the middle of the lineup. I really haven't paid attention to it, but does anybody know who the big free agents are this year?
9/23/2010 12:39:11 PM
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/09/2011-mlb-free-agents.htmlNot many that fit what we need. Would still love to see Dunn in the middle of our lineup but really no where to put him in the field. He doesn't really fit the "middle of the lineup bat" that we need, but I would love to see Carl Crawford at the top of our lineup and in LF for the near future, but I know that would never happen. We won't spend that money. A bat would likely have to come through a trade.
