ha epic verizon fail.
4/21/2010 11:46:00 AM
^Definitely wish I had preordered now
4/21/2010 12:38:04 PM
^^ epic fail?hardly.
4/21/2010 12:45:41 PM
^^ ha, I considered it since we have 3 lines eligible to upgrade but just couldn't pull the trigger.^ what part of Verizon shipping a device over a week early due to a software glitch isn't fail?
4/21/2010 1:24:46 PM
fail, sure. epic, nope. iphone 4g left in a bar = epic fail. nothing really at stake for verizon to have a phone in the wild a week early, except a few people complaining.
4/21/2010 1:36:47 PM
^ agreed.all the info is already publicly available + The phone has been reviewed over and over + They lose absolutely nothing by this phone getting accidentally shipped early = no epic fail.people throw the word "epic" around way too much these days.[Edited on April 21, 2010 at 1:52 PM. Reason : ]

Leave it to google fanboys to argue over semantics of 'epic fail'
4/21/2010 1:54:06 PM
I saw that iPhone shit on the news the other night. I immediately thought either FAKE or viral marketing, neither of which are really 'epic fail'.
4/21/2010 1:54:53 PM

I'm preordering the HTC Incredible at 1:00 tomorrow, right after my local Verizon store gets the Fed-ex shipment in... first of ten.
4/21/2010 7:48:09 PM
what advantage, if any, does pre-ordering the phone have? are they really going to run out of stock on the 29th?
4/21/2010 8:00:57 PM
Yeah, unless verizon turns up the advertising, I doubt there will be much demand outside of the tech community. I have 3 upgrades I could use but I think I'm sticking with the droid. Battery life seems to be mediocre from reports and the spec sheet compared to the droid, signal issues and no need to wait for root. Not to mention the Desire SenseUI port for the droid could be out as early as 11pm tonight.
4/21/2010 8:56:15 PM
the biggest things that are steering me to drop the droid and wait for the incredible are the significantly faster processor and lack of a shitty physical keyboard
4/21/2010 8:59:34 PM
^ then dont use the keyboard. pretty easy
4/21/2010 11:45:50 PM
^^ I completely agree... I thought the keyboard for the droid was sticky (slides with a lot of resistance)^Why put up with the bulk of the Droid and its physical keyboard when you don't use the keyboard? It really isn't necessary to have said feature if you don't use it......
4/21/2010 11:53:34 PM
i dont really know any droid owners who think the physical keyboard is all that shitty, just takes some time to get used to. when it comes to ssh'ing into routers from my droid, i cant imagine having to use the on-screen keyboard with a fraction of the screen real estatebut i do like the physical form of the nexus or eris, feels like a smooth pebble in your hand

4/22/2010 12:33:20 AM
i like how "sticky" the slide out on the droid is. my old htc 6800 was way too easy and was always sliding open in my pocket.
4/22/2010 8:31:54 AM
That Dell android phone looks hot. So glad they decided to skip the physical keyboard.

Alpha release of the Desire port on the Droid. Still has issues with calls while connected to 3G but that should be fixed this weekend.

i'm not hatin- what's the benefit of that? the screenshots are pretty and all, but how's the performance?
4/23/2010 8:32:09 AM
I run a tight ship on my droid. No live wallpaper. No widgets. Just one screen with icons. And I have task killer do a clean sweep on every sleep. I end up getting about two and a half days of battery life.[Edited on April 23, 2010 at 8:44 AM. Reason : ]
4/23/2010 8:43:48 AM
^ LW's take so very little of the battery. I would not disable them so much to save battery as I would preferring a pic set as the background. By comparison, my wife can get close to two days on her Nexus (running cyanogen) and she does not alter her phone to try and gain battery life.My G1 on the other hand can barely go 4 hours under heavy use. Good Lord is my battery terrible.
4/23/2010 8:57:17 AM
4/23/2010 9:12:26 AM
It runs slow with LW and widgets.I mean, I've had it running SenseUI and Last.fm widgets and rain drop wallpaper or whatever, and it just seemed to run sloooooooooow.Plus, I like using the news/weather one to look at my weather anyway. I don't need that animated sun, and I like the graphical weather forecast that the news/weather app does.

Why doesn't Android automatically disable 3G data when connected to Wi-Fi? That's something WebOS does for my Palm Pre, I fully appreciate it.[Edited on April 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM. Reason : manual != automatic]

pttyndal - I mainly use the following: News and Weather, Camera, Phone, Messager, Browswer, Last.fm, Streamfurious, Maps, Calendar, Astrid, and PicSay Pro.For me, it's easier if they're all on the same screen. I also don't really have any widgets for those that are helpful. If you have any suggestions I'm up to it.
4/23/2010 2:08:07 PM
^^ ha, you're always trying to pick an e-fight. Are you trying to overcompensate for something? And the fanboy comment was in response to your comment earlier on the page. Quit getting your panties in a bunch.

Golovko fucks every thread he decides to join. Go back to the Apple one please.I also am not a huge widget person (power control, buzz, weather and search is all that I use) and I am using a photo as a background (unless I flash a 2.1 rom on the G1 and want to test it).Point I was making earlier, LWs do not kill battery like you think they would. VERY small % of battery usage.WiFi disables 3G, once you disconnect, it turns back on.
