^they are young. Teague has superstar talent, but watching him so far, he needs to stop being so unselfish and learn when to take over a game. he has "take over" ability but he tries to force it to teammates too often. i didn't see today's game though

Here's what the remaining schedule looks like. Anyone think we could win 6 more ACC games? We've been cutting down on the turnovers lately (only 9 against UNC when we were averaging around 17). We've found some outside shooting (but our post players better start finishing around the rim better). 6 more ACC wins isn't out of the realm of possibility.

Tue, Feb 3 N.C. Central - W
Sun, Feb 8 at Virginia Tech - W (we own VT)
Wed, Feb 11 (6) Wake Forest - L
Sat, Feb 14 at Georgia Tech - W
Wed, Feb 18 at (5) North Carolina - L
Sat, Feb 21 Virginia - W
Thu, Feb 26 at (6) Wake Forest - L
Sun, Mar 1 Maryland - W
Wed, Mar 4 Boston College - W
Sat, Mar 7 at Miami (FL) - W

That would put us at 18-11 overall and 8-8 in conference play. We win one or two games in the ACC tournament and we could sneak into the NCAA tournament as a 12 seed. Last year Arizona got in as a 10 seed with a 19-14 record, St. Joe's got in as an 11 seed with a 21-12 record, Baylor got in as a 11 seed with a 21-10 record, Kansas State got in as an 11 seed with a 20-11 record, Villanova got in as a 12 seed with a 20-12 record, Kentucky got in as an 11 seed with an 18-12 record, Temple got in as a 12 seed with a 21-12 record, and Oregon some how got in as a 9 seed with an 18-13 record. I know it's wishful thinking, but if this team continues to take care of the ball and shoot well, then we could possibly make a late season run at getting to the tournament. Sidney should bring this up as motivation to close out the season well. Also Ben, Brandon, and Courtney could go out with a legacy of having gotten us back to the tournament.

I know you are overly optimistic and all but even if we go 8-8 we are not sniffing the NCAAs without winning the ACCT. Our OOC schedule was terrible and we beat none of the three decent teams we played. Our big OOC win is ECU. Our RPI/SOS will not let us be on the bubble even.

^^The teams you listed all had a notable win (s) at some point during last years season though... so even if the ^^ played out it could still be tough, I'd think they'd need to win two (at least) in the ACC tourney.

Yeah I think if the team went 8-8 they'd have to win 2 ACCT games. Perhaps WF will overlook us like they did GT and CU.

No way we get in with 8-8 with our OOC record.

We'll have to win the ACC tournament with that record.

I'm so fucking pumped for this game tonight. It is going to be a physical WAR between two Top 5 teams. Old school Big East basketball. They should bring back the old 6 foul Big East limit for this one. I expect a game in the 60s at best with these two defenses...

It won't be as pretty as the no-interior D ACC heavyweight games, but it will be just as tense and good. Like I said, I never thought I'd see this UConn team be #1, but unfortunately I have a feeling it will only last 3 or 4 hours because UL is playing as well as anyone in the country at this point in the season and Freedom Hall is TOUGH to win at when they are playing well...

Ok big if, but what if we went 8-8 with wins coming against WF at home and in Winston-Salem, and UNC on the road (yeah I know it ain't happening, but this is all hypothetical so work with me here). Would those three wins be enough for a team in our position to make it to the tournament provided a win in the ACCT is included in that tournament resume? This begs the question of whether an ACC team with that kind of resume during one of the conference's strongest years should get in over a 21/22 win A-10 team?

Our RPI is TERRIBLE and is about to take a HUGE hit because of the mindnumbingly stupid scheduling of NCCU in February (who the fuck did this? Fowler? I've never seen such a stupid f'ing RPI-killing game).

Right now our RPI wins are:
261
332
244
326
320
193
313
138
227
133
49

Average of 231. That is indescribably bad. Against Top 100 teams we are 1-8. Really, our record right now is inflated because of the porous OOC schedule we had...

8-8 and a trip to the ACC CG gets us in though... but it ain't happening, no matter how much I want it to.

UConn's got a MASSIVE edge in the backcourt. Dyson, Walker and Price would all start for Louisville and personally I think Austrie is a much more consistent player than Edgar Sosa.

Earl Clark is a NIGHTMARE for UConn to guard with his range and will draw Robinson/Adrien away from the lane leaving some offensive rebound opportunities and giving less blocked shots. UConn is nearly impossible to get in to foul trouble, but UL is the most physically imposing team they'll play. If Thabeet can stay on the floor I see this swinging UConn's way, but I'm not sure he can...

It should be a good tempo game to watch. UL wants to slow it down and get that zone working and UConn will want to turn them over and get out and run.

I actually think we are better than our RPI and SOS, etc, because we lost by such a small margin to those ranked teams. If we had sacked-up and won those games, our season would be night and day almost.

That's the difference between 20 TOs a game and 10 TOs a game. Our guard situation is like our QB situation between Rivers and Wilson.

UL is nowhere near a good offensive team. They are completely terrified of Thabeet... I mean petrified.

UL is elite because they have, by far, the best defensive team in the country.

** UConn looks every bit the #1 team in teh country right now, knock on wood.

I think they mean that he doesn't get the kind of pub that Hansbrough, Harangody, etc. type guys get. Adrien is a very important piece for UConn, even though he doesn't put up gaudy numbers. He is a very good player. I don't think he was underrated though coming out of high school. Despite being only 6-6, both Scout and Rivals rated him as a 4* player, with Scout ranking him as the #16 PF, #61 overall, and Rivals ranking him as the #9 PF, #41 overall. I mean really how many 6-6 PFs are usually ranked that high? A 6-6 PF has to be pretty skilled and special to get those kind of rankings.

Adrien also had a lot of good offers besides UConn. Kansas, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Boston College, Villanova, Providence, Penn State, Miami (FL), Iowa State, and Arizona all offered.

Xavier and Wake Forest have agreed to start a series between the two schools to honor Skip Prosser. The first game is in Winston-Salem next year.

Maryland @ UNC tonight.

Gary Williams should be fired by the end of this season, the dude can't coach himself out of a paper bag anymore. what is it now, 6 years since they did anything? doesnt help to have a war waging between him and the AD now too

UNC wins by 24

Duke @ Clemson tomorrow night....

While talking about tOSU's crowd being often accused of being a wine and cheese crowd...

Brent Musburger: "The students certainly brought it tonight." (I'm paraphrasing here, but that's basically what he said)

Steve Lavin: "Well the students bring it every night. That's just part of being a student, living off of snickers bars and coke."

Just seemed funny b/c there was a short, awkward pause afterwards.

Not glad that Ginyard is injured but that REALLY hurts them. He is their only GREAT lockdown defender. It won't matter much in the ACC (aside from the 2 Duke games) since they played Wake already, but come tourney time there are a handful of teams that can expose them without that premier defender.

^ I'm still really confused as to how he wasn't charged with DUI? He was pulled over, his BAC was over .00 and he was under 21...

Btw, it's hilarious watching UNC fans try and breakdown their team versus others over on IC. They are almost certain that UNC is a better defensive team than UConn (it is just mindbogglingly retarded to even think about thinking that) and seem to have no pulse on other teams other than their own.

I know I'm talking about UConn a lot right now, but it's because it just highlights their ridiculous attitude. Their goal? Get Thabeet to run because he is just like Roy Hibbert. Have they ever even seen UConn play? They are a running team if there has every been one and Thabeet gets countless james and layups on fast breaks... Of course they also think Tyler has "three point range" because he's made a couple this year.
