simonn, you bastard.hints are allowed.
8/11/2008 1:23:07 PM
looks like there is quite a bit of John Wall chatter, any conformation?
8/11/2008 1:27:21 PM
There isn't really anything to confirm. He hasn't committed to Baylor as he was expected to, but that doesn't mean he won't.
8/11/2008 1:33:25 PM
nothing of substance on john wall, just a lot of sour grapes.noel johnson is who james is talking about lately.
8/11/2008 1:37:20 PM
noel johnson plays on the same AAU team as favors.would a wood/brown/howell/johnson/favors class make everyone happy?
8/11/2008 3:06:34 PM
^NO lol
8/11/2008 3:15:38 PM
8/11/2008 3:21:54 PM
meh, all three people who post there can melt down all they want.
8/11/2008 3:23:38 PM
So have we offered Noel Johnson, or is this more like we may get a commit from him talk?
8/11/2008 3:27:18 PM
I don't think we have officially offered, I could have missed it though.
8/11/2008 3:29:26 PM
those people on gavsv are insane. The ones posting the junk about our coaches are supposed to be fairly credible. The problem is, they havent said one thing that can be proven, or that would point a finger towards us besides "someone got paid....wwo is getting rich off nc state....someone got paid....i'm a lunatic" BS. fuck those guys.
8/11/2008 3:31:43 PM
^ link?
8/11/2008 3:33:09 PM
So would we want him? If we took him, how many more schollys do you guys think we'd have for this class?Just looking at his info, I'd say I'd be fucking ecstatic to have him if we could get him.[Edited on August 11, 2008 at 3:35 PM. Reason : ]
8/11/2008 3:35:16 PM
^^^ plenty of aau coaches get paid via loopholes. billy donovan exploits this in a huge way, as well as a lot of other coaches. i don't doubt for one second that our coaches are doing this, and why not? if it's technically legal, then go crazy, b/c every program you're recruiting against probably is.attn: naive purists - i'm just calling it like i see it. i love this school, i assure you.]
8/11/2008 3:37:01 PM
maybe just top jew got the linkyou're right[Edited on August 11, 2008 at 3:55 PM. Reason : .]
8/11/2008 3:45:03 PM
^ sigh don't do that.the last thing we need is a bunch of people from tdub who know absolutely nothing about our recruiting going on there and calling people idiots.
8/11/2008 3:51:19 PM
http://www.gavsv.com ...justgo read the AAAAA basketball forums regarding our players[Edited on August 11, 2008 at 4:09 PM. Reason : ]Simon, I read the article. I don't believe we're paying for recruits. I don't think its out of the realm of posibilities that JJ could be helping out his former coaches right now that he has some cash. Nothing illegal about that. Either way, there are more legit ways that those coaches could have been compensated (IF they are even being compensated...these are unsubstantiated lies at this point) than illegal ways, and the legal ways make more sense. fucking sour grapes by uga or gt fansactually...i posted the donovan article in gavsv. 8/11/2008 4:18:29 PM
i read a little bit of the board and it's just a lot of accusations with no evidence. it's pretty much the same slander that any other school getting big recruits receives.
8/11/2008 4:48:21 PM
8/11/2008 5:25:43 PM
ok, i believe understand the 4 man class and possibly the 5 man class, but how on earth can we take 6?3 - Seniors leave4 - Seniors + Johnny Thomas5 - Seniors + JT + Costner6 - ???7 - Profit
8/11/2008 5:31:13 PM
I have no idea how it would work, doesn't Larry Harris' kid have a scholly right now? Maybe he can be like Sean May and just have his dad pay his way and still play.
8/11/2008 5:33:18 PM
That doesnt work because Harris's son is one of the seniors. Someone would have to be declared ineligible or would have to leave the team or get an academic scholarship.
8/11/2008 5:46:05 PM
Well then I have no idea how it would work, but it's been said that a 6 man class wasn't out of the question if the right people were coming.
8/11/2008 5:49:06 PM
clearly, you are forgetting the plethora of transfer potentials we have on this squad?
8/11/2008 6:11:03 PM
i think all the people with transfer potential have already transferred once
8/11/2008 6:23:15 PM
haha, less than a week since we offered garrius adams and we're already behind miami, south carolina, va tech, and wake. i guess we'll have to see how is recruitment plays out.
8/11/2008 6:35:52 PM
^^ i'm not talking other d1 schools here mang.we have some bad players =X
8/11/2008 6:37:35 PM
I could see this being a 5 man class.BTW on that GA board, they're just spitting venom. Look at how they speak of Lowe and tell me that they aren't biased against him.
8/11/2008 6:45:50 PM
they're just pissed cuz we're stealin their prospects, kinda like how a bunch of people on here were pissed about Baylor hiring Dwon Clifton and potentially stealing John Wall, it's all sour grapesAlso, here's some observations on Noel Johnson's game from the Adidas Nations Tourney:
8/11/2008 7:27:55 PM
add another spot on the roster. johnson's transferring. again, trust in Sid and Co when they say it will be a big class.
8/13/2008 7:28:21 AM
i hate it for the guy but that's definitely for the best.

8/13/2008 8:08:58 AM
Not sure where Johnson will end up, and I'm sorry it didn't work out for him here, but he was probably about to see a lot of bench time anyway. I hope he finds some playing time wherever he lands.
8/13/2008 9:29:21 AM
Too bad...kid has to transfer again for the 2nd time.Unless the NCAA is really good to him (which I doubt) he will only have 1 year at his next school.
8/13/2008 10:01:25 AM
Supposedly he has 3 years to play two, so he should be ok. Something about not technically redshirting here somehow.
8/13/2008 10:07:18 AM
They're saying he's transferring to Georgia State, so he should be able to play right away.
8/13/2008 10:16:47 AM
I thought they were saying that Georgia State was Div I so he WOULD have to sit out, but he would still get two years of playing time in after that. Maybe I read wrong.
8/13/2008 10:32:30 AM
Good luck to him...he just didn't fit here.
8/13/2008 10:50:20 AM
ahh, GSU is DI. So he would have to sit out a year. That has to be rough for him to play only one half of season in three years.l
8/13/2008 11:27:40 AM
you mean like Degand?
8/13/2008 12:42:19 PM
Wall has seemingly not eliminated us from contention, despite what others have said and speculated just b/c his AAU coach was hired by Baylor. He was supposed to stop by for our elite camp, but his mother had to go to the hospital and he couldn't make it. Obviously family comes first. He has said that we are right there with everyone else. He likes that the school is right by the house. It's also well known that his mother likes State the most.
8/13/2008 9:31:44 PM
i kind of hope he goes somewhere else. i think the one and done guys are really destructive to programs trying to build up...we aren't exactly a "restock every year" type of program and i think one and done guys hurt even more for programs like state. unc, texas, ucla and schools like that just keep the stream coming in and it still hurts them the year after (although not nearly as much).
8/13/2008 10:00:33 PM
Yeah that's true to an extent, but we'll have Lorenzo and a much more experienced Javi and Julius at our disposal the year after. Not to mention if Ryan Harrow grows a little bit he should be very good and could be a decent back up during his freshman year for the aforementioned guys.
8/13/2008 10:06:44 PM
you're absolutely nuts if you think that having john wall instead of farnold degand for a season will be, in any way, destructive.
8/13/2008 11:46:18 PM
it will be the year after he's our pg durrr
8/13/2008 11:47:29 PM
^^yeah seriously...i want nothing to do with the best player in the country
