The only time I laughed at the cgi was when the bat-bike drove up onto the wall to turn around
7/21/2008 10:10:14 AM
I was glad they mostly left this movie free of CGI. In the first one, a lot of the city shots were CGI (and don't get me started on Batman Forever ). Here the Gotham is almost all real (it's actually Chicago the credits said). All the helicopter reminded me a little of Dirty Harry.Too many action movies today rely on CGI for special effects. You may as well watch a video game. That's the main reason I have not seen Indiana Jones 4 yet.
7/21/2008 10:10:28 AM
it was alright, a bit corny and cheesy but I give it a 4.5
7/21/2008 10:21:20 AM
^^^ yea that was nearly the only "cheesy" thing they put in this movie that I thought was unneeded.

CG was unquestionably the right way to make Two-Face look as realistic as possible(it actually looks very much like The Long Halloween). You can't give the impression of burned-off flesh and exposed musculature with a prosthetic. Plus the reveal was excellent directing.
7/21/2008 10:33:25 AM
i was hoping two-face would have been more realistic..perhaps just some heavy scarring on the side of his face or realistic-looking burn marks. they went a lot more into it than i thought they would, but it isn't that big of a deal
7/21/2008 10:50:59 AM
joker in the nurses outfit was pure cinema gold
7/21/2008 10:54:49 AM
^ agreed. i love how light that scene was too. it was one of the brightest shots in the movie and just ruled overall.and yes the two face in the long Halloween is probably my favorite which is why I loved the two face in this movie.
7/21/2008 11:07:58 AM
^^lets not forget that in the end this is a comic-book/superhero movie. As awesomely dark and real as it was (which i absolutely love), the two-face maintained its roots. i want to see this again so badly
7/21/2008 11:08:23 AM
I can't decide if I should make my second viewing at IMAX or not. The only non-IMAX (see: documentary) movie I've seen at IMAX was the 2nd Matrix movie, and even sitting near the back, the screen was just TOO BIG. I had to keep darting my eyes all over the screen, and I'm thinking 2 and a half hrs of that could be a bit much again.
7/21/2008 11:11:56 AM
what is a good way to garauntee a spot in the back of the imax to make it an enjoyable exp.?

LOLOL
7/21/2008 11:22:27 AM
sounds better that way... [Edited on July 21, 2008 at 11:24 AM. Reason : and what was wrong w/ leatherhead?!?!? haha]
7/21/2008 11:23:29 AM
7/21/2008 11:37:58 AM
haha yea one of my friends at that scene said out loud (not that loud but I heard him) "really?" in the same tone as Michael Bluth's "her?" from AD
7/21/2008 11:49:44 AM
7/21/2008 11:53:49 AM
i kinda had the "really?" expression during the whole "batcycle wall turn-around, batman about to run over joker screaming in anger but then dodging and wrecking" scene. I let it go once gordon showed back up.
7/21/2008 11:56:54 AM
i loved the bike up the wall scene b/c it was unexpected and slightly funny
7/21/2008 11:57:41 AM
fucking awesome[Edited on July 21, 2008 at 12:06 PM. Reason : yeah]

if anyone can find a bigger, clearer picture of ^^, please post it
7/21/2008 12:11:11 PM
yea those few seconds of the joker taking a cop car out for a joyride was straight poetic
7/21/2008 12:21:20 PM
btw, I also thought it was corny how Batman spoke, voice masking or not
7/21/2008 12:23:28 PM
I'm not saying I didn't like the bike going up the wall, but the CGI of it was a little too smooth and slow
7/21/2008 12:28:22 PM
7/21/2008 12:29:02 PM
it looks like the joker is riding in the back of the cop car...or is he driving it?
7/21/2008 12:35:39 PM
7/21/2008 12:36:23 PM
There's no way he's driving with where he's positioned in the car unless he's steering with one foot and punching the gas with the other
7/21/2008 12:40:07 PM
^^ i loved that^^^ looks like he is in the backseat, i assume one of his generic goons is driving the cop car after the escape.IMDB voters have Dark Knight #1. The movie was great and all but #1? Over Godfather I and II? I'm sure it'll go down after a while though.I remember seeing Batman Begins the first time and hearing Batman say "Where are the drugs!?" in the voice of his cracked me up. But i definitely just chalk it up to him disguising his voice so I can easily overlook it.[Edited on July 21, 2008 at 12:41 PM. Reason : grrr]

are those the greatest movies of all time or something?
7/21/2008 12:42:02 PM
7/21/2008 12:47:18 PM
well, it looked pretty cool. i dont know about believeable, but it was pretty cool to see all the tendons and shit moving around.
7/21/2008 12:49:23 PM
Every movie ever made, including "my wife is retarded", can be rated by online voters as 1-10. Most of the other (older) movies have like 150,000+ votesLast I checked, tdk was at 9.6 after about 20,000 or so votesso it will go down some after those people that haven't seen it yet vote on itOnly people that have seen it already have been the ones anticipating it for a while and probly would vote it high regardlessMy guess is it will end up averaging between 8.5-8.8[/OBVIOUS][Edited on July 21, 2008 at 12:51 PM. some things just have to be let go, it IS a comic book movie after all. I mean heck it was the most realistic comic book movie I've probably ever seen so cut it some slack in the "that [x] was too fake" department
7/21/2008 1:50:14 PM
Yeah, part of me reads some of these criticisms and says "HAVE YOU EVER READ BATMAN!?"But I have to remember that most people aren't as nerdy as I am.Anyway, as far as Harvey looking ridiculous, that's always been the point...he's supposed to be grotesque.
7/21/2008 2:03:25 PM
I definitely heard some kids in the theater gasp and then whisper "Oh...HE'S Two-Face!".One of the Jokers last lines, something about "Me and you are going to end up doing this forever" really broke my heart. I'd love it if they could bring back this incarnation of the Joker in the future.
7/21/2008 2:06:11 PM
I really thought the joker was going to cut himself loose from that rope at the end and fall to his death (almost like jack)i guess the cops eventually came and got him? or either his goons didone part i thought was cheesy was when rachel and dent were talking to each other on the phone...her lines were reallllly cheesy...but it wasn't that bad i guess
7/21/2008 2:08:35 PM
I have to admit I geeked out when Harvey fell into the gasoline, only because I was expecting the acid-at-a-trial bit and liked the way they handled it.
7/21/2008 2:13:46 PM
7/21/2008 2:22:43 PM
I was kind of expecting the acid and thinking that the drums would end up having acid when Dent said that it looked like he was surrounded by drums of gasoline (or whatever he said)Especially after acid was used to kill the commissioner
7/21/2008 2:26:10 PM
i would've liked the movie to end with the joker in a straight-jacket, being put away in arkham.. that would've killed.
