^^^ why?you do realize it used to be a great venue before somebody else bought it and turned it into a metalcore venue, right?
8/1/2011 1:05:10 PM
Because Meeker looks like the sort of dude to hang out at a chess convention.
8/1/2011 1:14:23 PM
hahe hangs out at multiple bars and attends shows at various places

Anyone know if they are having the street festival again this year (I think it was late September)?
8/2/2011 9:16:03 PM
Brewery is gone baby gone. Kathmandu, PB's, Capitol Comics still standing. Time Out still open for business...
8/2/2011 10:04:18 PM
Signage for Chipotle is up. They actually recessed the store front to give it a small outdoor area similar to Porter's.
8/9/2011 11:38:24 AM
^thats awesome. I think I remember reading that they hope to open in September, but I am guessing October. I think restaurant owners and city government/citizens are finally starting to respect the overall benefits to outdoor (and even rooftop) seating. The more the better.
8/9/2011 12:12:09 PM
^ Something tells me the smoking ban has gone a long way in helping with that
8/9/2011 1:21:00 PM
I think it's more about girls slutting it up on the weekend and then wanting to have brunch outside with 2 or 3 friends and joke about which one of them is more of a Samantha.
8/9/2011 2:08:56 PM
It probably helps that the street got the facelift.
8/9/2011 2:15:03 PM
8/9/2011 2:18:15 PM
Speaking of the rooftops, I had heard last year that Porter's was going to open a rooftop patio area. Wonder if that got completely nixed, or just put on hold?
8/9/2011 5:24:52 PM
i'm hoping for more chain restaurants and other establishments to open up on hillsborough... chipotle is a good start... and it has always needed a Kerr Drug!!

Chipotle is going to do really well on Hillsborough St. yeah, it's a chain, but it will have better food than 99% of the other restaurants on that strip.
8/9/2011 10:35:06 PM
Translation: "I like Chipotle."
8/9/2011 10:59:17 PM
second translation: "nearly every place that serves food on Hillsborough Street sucks"

Drove by the future Chipotle this morning on the way home from the airport. It looks really good. Is there another option for convenience store goods in that area now that the Bazaar is gone? The funky store next to Gumby's with all of the lights might be the closest option now, or the Belltower mart (which may not be long for this world).
8/11/2011 12:51:15 PM
Even after losing this one, Hillsborough Street is not hurting for convenience stores, the two you mention plus the on-campus c-store at the Atrium which is basically on Hillsborough Street are probably the closest. In addition to those three, we also have the Wolf Mart across from Dan Allen and the College Beverage next to East Village.Hillsborough has plenty of convenience stores.
8/11/2011 2:12:04 PM
^ Plus the new Kerr Drug
8/11/2011 2:13:44 PM
Looks like they are currently pouring the sixth floor of the main apartment building.
8/17/2011 1:11:59 PM
Two Guys looks like the interior is getting a massive overhaul right now.
8/17/2011 6:43:57 PM
Anybody know what happened to Hannah's?Aside from the fact that they closed and the space is for lease...
8/17/2011 8:56:50 PM
What is/was Hannah's?
8/18/2011 9:09:14 AM
Grilled Subs place right there next to Sir Speedy's and the entrance to the tattoo place, etc.

Chipotle is new on the block right next to the new mexican joint where el rodeo was. I expect they will do epic business there.

8/23/2011 11:23:37 AM
^^^For some reason I thought the land they're talking about was what's behind Sadlacks and down towards the roundabout, because it says it includes parking area for David's Dumpings, which is behind Player's Retreat.
