I got one!!!

Went to Toys R Us at Concord Mills around 10. There were 32 people in front of me. The manager came out around 10:30 and said there were only 30 available but that only one per family. Turns out there were 32 available and one person ahead of me did not want on.

I'm doing all the updates now. Going to play Zelda and Red Steel tonight!! WooHoo

PS. I live in the Charlotte area so I did not drive 2.5 hours to get one

I gots my zelda and madden and the extra controller and nunchuck. I don't have wireless internets, so I'll have to wait on the updates.

Everything looks so nice and works so well though. Wii Sports is way cooler than I expected.

Oh so you have to have Wifi to connect? Damn I don't have a router. I suppose I can get the updates when I go home for Thanksgiving, my dad has a wireless router.

Heh, im in charleston , sc. I showed up to wal mart around 7:15am, was 16th in line and they had 20 systems. At 7:45 they passed out the tickets and at 8 they took us back to electronics where they had drawn a line on the floor. Had 5 people working the counter each manning different items: games, systems, controllers, etc.... You just told them what you wanted and were out.

I was at a restaurant eating breakfast by 8:15.

Very nicely done.

got to Cary Best Buy at 6:45. Saw Lutz about eight people in front of me spazzing out when he didn't get a ticket. Drove to Durham, never found one. Went home empty-handed. Pretty much my fault for underestimating the demand.

I guess I'll just finish up FFXII.

It's cool at least you're not like that guy they had to wrestle to the ground when he didn't get a PS3.

ok so I just read a review that pretty much trashed Red Steel. It might be a return for Madden

I only got to play my madden for about 10 min, but I thought it was bad ass as hell. I still wish it were NCAA football, but I'll take it for now.

as long as it's new and still packaged, I don't see how they can say anything. Especially if you get another game

I got to the Target in Garner, the one on Timber East, around 5:45-6:00 this morning and was 15th in line. They had 24 total, and the 24th person got there around 7am. At 7:30 they had tickets handed out, at 8 they took us to the electronics department where I picked up my Wii, a Wiimote and a numchuck, Zelda, Super Monkey Ball, Madden, and Red Steel, at 8:20 I was leaving, and at 8:30 I was eating breakfast from Bojangles.

So far I think the system is BAD ASS.

Quick review of the games I've played so far.
Wii Sports - Fun for the most part, but glad its not the only game I have.
Madden - Fucking bad ass! It's soooo much more fun on the Wii than on the Xbox.
Red Steel - Was hating it the first 15 minutes or so, but once I got used to the controls it was fun. Nothing will beat a keyboard and mouse though.

Monkey Ball is actually my girlfriends so I haven't played it yet, and Zelda will be in the Wii all night long after she goes to work

I'm hoping that the increased Wii demand means that we'll be seeing some good deals on DS, what with everyone clamoring for Wii and not DS.

Also, does the wii take ANY SD card or does it have to be those Wii ones?

I am too lazy/busy to look it up in the manual.

Any. It takes the smaller ones too if you have an adapter.

Just woke up from a nap...so I'm gonna try to get the 2nd update again. Better not get another connection error!

^I haven't figured that out myself

for whoever was asking, the weather channel and news channels will be up and going Dec 20 and Jan 27 respectively. I don't think Nintendo had partners setup quick enough to have these going at launch.

^Tracer, its almost all timing from what I can tell. You can put top/back spin on it but the angle of the racquet doesn't really come into play.

Johnson said he had legally changed his middle name to a reference in Nintendo's "Zelda" series of games.

I knew a girl with a daughter named Rydia.

So, uh....yeah, don't name your kids after video game characters.

^^my trick was flickin the wrist...gave me some nice speeds. i cant really figure out the spins in the tennis. i play tennis, but my topspin is just lobbin it up, and my backspin is also just lobbin it up. i havent found a way to slice it yet.

I think the main concern with naming your kids after video games character is that you're setting up them up to be made fun of. Rydia is a fairly normal-sounding name based off a fairly obscure video game character. It's unlikely that anyone would ever catch the reference.

Now if you named your kid Nidoking...

I just played a bunch of Monkey Ball, and it is incredibly dissappointing. With 50 games for multiplayer, I realized many would be toss-aways, but it didn't think it would be this many. All in all, there are about 20 games that are unplayable. Many others a retarded and no fun. I think there are about 10 that I think are decent.

The biggest problem is that they took a complete crap on some of the older minigames. Bowling is pretty unplayable due to poor spin controls. It also lacks any of the nifty courses that existed in past games. Golf is pretty much unplayable. I spent about 10 minutes trying to get the monkey to swing. Monkey racing is fine, but lacks grand prix. Lastly, Monkey Target now sucks. The Wiimote controls are decent for aiming him, but the biggest downsides are that you shoot out of a cannon instead of rolling and THERE IS ONLY ONE level.

I haven't messed with the single player, but I heard there are only half the levels of the previous games.
