^ yeah, I really should have ran for SBA president instead of vice-president. That way I could run things the way I think that they should be run. Oh well, I've only got two more meetings. I've been the stickler so far, no need to quit now.

t minus 4 weeks of classes.... 7 weeks till graduation.I can't wait to get the hell out of this place. I actually find myself looking forward to studying for the bar (in between world cup matches of course )[Edited on March 19, 2010 at 1:49 PM. Reason : s]

3/19/2010 3:28:18 PM
43 days and counting til graduationi'm actually kinda pissed off that the world cup is this summer since i will have to be studying for the bar. i guess i'll have to get dvr and watch the good games after my 10 hr/day study schedule.
3/19/2010 7:27:01 PM
i'm in a bar review class now (KINSLERRRR holla holla. he's leaving us though. doesn't matter to me cause i'm outtie in may anyway) and it is really hard to get motivated to study AND pay attention in the class. esp days he isn't there and we just watch videos. blahhhhhh^ are you doing the NC bar? what course are you in barbri or kaplan?! or neither?
3/19/2010 7:30:25 PM
So I've been Waitlisted now at William and Mary, Georgetown, AND Virginia. This shit is annoying.
3/19/2010 7:51:51 PM
I just said fuck the waitlists and took a scholarship to a 4th tier school. We'll see how that works out for me, but all signs right now point to well.
3/20/2010 9:49:50 AM
^^^ doing the a.m. barbri course in raleigh. you? where is kinsler going?
3/20/2010 2:07:55 PM
^ i'm doing kaplan. right now in gboro but i'm getting it moved to raleigh i think.and kinsler is going to be the dean of a new law school. i can't remember where. i kinda wanna say TN but i'm not sure!
3/21/2010 11:42:26 AM
Well i'm kind of in a bind right now...Accepted to Elon and waitlisted at the other 2 in NC (Central/Campbell) and won't hear back from UNC for at least another monthRequired to put down a nonrefundable deposit to Elon by the end of the week or else I forfeit my seat and it's my last choice but I won't hear back from Central or Campbell until JULY, YES JULYI'm figuring that waitlisted most places means UNC is an even further shot than I thought and I can't wait till July to make decisions about moving, which is compounded by the fact that my fiancee just started her job in Clayton and it's a great job and we really do not want to move out of the the areawhy oh why does Elon law have to be in Greensboro and not near the actual main university
3/24/2010 10:38:39 PM
ohhhh so you want it close to the main campus for easier commuting?! at first i was like burlington is even dumpier than greensboro.ANYWAYS i bet you'll at least get into central (or you should). and probably campbell as well.commuting (from raleigh?) to greensboro really isn't that bad. we have several students who do that and i'm sure you'd find several in your class too so you could work out a carpool. but yes, it would be nice to stay in the raleigh area. plus central is cheap.would you consider doing a distance relationship for 3 years - or at least the first year? when are you getting married? if you could live your first year in greensboro (just for 1L year) then you could commute the last 2 no problem. but it'd prob be best to actually be in greensboro your 1L year.[Edited on March 24, 2010 at 11:04 PM. ^^ I hate to say it, but eating non-refundable tuition deposits is often part of the process in applying to law school. I had to eat one myself....And considering how crazy law school admissions are, I honestly wouldn't go on the assumption you will get in to any particular school and off any particular waitlist. [Edited on March 25, 2010 at 3:13 PM. Reason : ff]
3/25/2010 3:00:11 PM
the deposits are part of itand while i hope you get into campbell or central waiting until july and NOT saving your space at elon seems kind of risky
3/25/2010 5:32:18 PM
Man I'm not in law school, but I'm having the most difficult time writing a Bar character reference letter for a friend. I know I could just fill out the form, but we've been friends for 22 years. I want to write a little more and be an advocate. This is tough!
3/25/2010 9:21:43 PM
i was really counting on at least central by nowi mean my LSAT is almost 20 points above their average, i just assume because of the economy there's alot of people going the economical route there than usual and so they can be a little pickier than in the past
3/25/2010 10:23:36 PM
^ It's just crazy in general. I'm a 3L at UNC right now. I got in to William and Mary, Alabama, and eventually Duke, yet Central and the college of Charleston turned me down..... go figure
3/25/2010 10:28:52 PM
a guy i knew from app is now ADA in wake county and he's a recruiter for UNC and said he put in a good word so if UNC accepted me I would be highly elated
3/25/2010 10:32:18 PM
Have you been to UNC and done one of the Friday tours? If you're on the borderline, getting your name out there and fresh might help.
3/25/2010 10:51:58 PM
no i have not, who do i need to get in contact with? i seem to remember looking on the website for something like that not seeing it
3/25/2010 11:07:17 PM
Here you go: http://www.law.unc.edu/admissions/planvisit/default.aspxhttp://www.law.unc.edu/admissions/planvisit/schedule.aspxPretty much, you can go any time, and sit in on most classes, up until exams start in April. So you would need to go ahead and schedule this asap. They pretty much have students giving tours most days of the week.or
3/25/2010 11:17:55 PM
not sure why i couldnt find that before...all the waitlists are starting to make sense now...[Edited on March 25, 2010 at 11:21 PM. Reason : why is 420 Magic Day? lol]
3/25/2010 11:20:03 PM
for the 3L's in the group...who has jobs? where? if you don't have a job lined up, what are your plans? I don't have anything solid lined up. Me current plan is to keep looking until mid may, but once bar studying starts to quit actively looking until after the bar.
3/26/2010 11:00:25 PM
^ same plan as you. i don't have anything lined up. i'm looking and looking and applying and applying. but once it is time to start studying for the bar i'm done looking until after. i also have to take the august mpre so that is going to suck haha.then as far as the fall goes i'll probably pick up a waitressing job or retail job or nannying job while i continue to look for "real" jobs. that is pretty much all i got.
3/27/2010 4:18:58 PM
Just found out I got into Wake. Still a bunch of schools outstanding, but this is my first acceptance so far, which really takes a load off my mind. I have to have my decision and seat deposit in by April 15th, but I'm hoping to get more replies by then so I don't have to spend $300 without knowing that I'm going to keep the seat.
3/29/2010 10:19:54 PM
Most of the people I know down here have had no luck yet. Hopefully it will open up for them after the bar exam.
3/30/2010 1:12:15 PM
There was a lot of "it will open up after you passed the Bar" talk down here in Charleston...but that really didn't happen. Big firms and government jobs were all on hiring freezes the year I got out and continued into the next class (haven't really been keeping up since last May). But I do live in a saturated market (everyone that passes the Bar in SC wants to live in Charleston). My roommate, who was top 10 in the class, Editor of the Law Review, and had one of the best resumes you could make up, got a job at the last second (after having a really good clerkship his first year out), but only after a good attorney friend pulled a couple strings. It seems like some of my fellow classmates are getting jobs at the medium sized firms that are using them as glorified paralegals, but paying them peanuts. I feel like they're seeing if one or two out of the three or four that they hire may pan out and make them some money...then they might actually pay them decent. A lot of my other friends are just hanging their own shingle. It's risky, but at least they're giving it a shot. The one advantage is seeing all the profits...a shitty disadvantage is having to pay all of your own Bar dues and those expensive ass CLE's (not to mention rent, utilities, and WestLaw/LexusNexus accounts). It's just really tough out there. And South Carolina use to be pretty decent because there was only one law school (USC), but with the Charleston School of Law now on it's 5th or 6th year, the law field is becoming crowded. I feel like kids from neighboring states are flocking here as well (shit ton of UNC kids in the area).
3/30/2010 1:42:00 PM
I've been out a year and don't have anything solid just yet. However, I have about 5 good to excellent prospects, and am awaiting 1 offer... so things look good.
3/30/2010 5:23:13 PM
i kindof want a break anyway so i feel like i'm just going to wait tables and work in retail, live at home (booo), save up some money, go on a trip and the hopefully during the waiting tables time i'll be looking for and finding a job and if not after my trip i'm just going to move somewhere and figure it out
3/30/2010 7:20:35 PM
Yeah I'd hate to have to rely on that but one of my good friends who graduated in December got a job a few weeks after taking the bar (Results aren't out yet). I am currently trying to knock out my damn seminar paper. It isn't due until April 23rd but it would be awesome to get it done very very soon. It took me a while to figure out what to write about but I settled on online gambling. There seems to be a good amount of relevant research and I'm just going to roll with it. Hope it works out. It reminds me of writing NCSU undergraduate papers on crime...just when I'd get super frustrated about it, I'd figure it all out.I've only got about 5.5 weeks left until the JD part is over AND 6.5 weeks until graduation. This semester seems to have flown by. One year and a summer session until I am done with school forever. Hopefully, that will be it for real.[Edited on March 31, 2010 at 1:27 AM. Reason : ]

27 days until I'm done with law school and 29 days until graduation!
4/2/2010 11:11:31 PM
who is playin in the uva tourney?
4/11/2010 12:29:17 AM
My seminar paper is pretty much done. Other than doing some corrections and footnotes I am two exams and a few weeks of intense studying from graduating! My excitement is tempered significantly since I will be back next year. However, it will still be awesome to knock out the J.D. part.

4/11/2010 1:52:24 PM
last week of school.........
4/12/2010 12:49:17 AM
well we made it to the Final Four at the UVA tourney. not too shabby, wish we could have brought home the championship again this year though. only 17 more days til graduation! i'm about a divorce law school, assuming that I don't go for an LLM.
4/13/2010 11:33:04 PM
damn luckymy grad isn't until may 23rdboooooo.
4/14/2010 12:18:55 AM
Just registered for my last year of classes!
4/14/2010 8:22:06 AM
3LS: are you taking out a bar loan for this summer? or have you already?!
4/14/2010 8:36:59 PM
^^ What did you sign up for?^ Yeah, I got one through CITI a few weeks ago. Was fairly painless....
4/15/2010 9:49:46 AM
^Fall: Advanced Copyright with Gasaway, Crim Pro with Muller, hopefully I'll get into a BA... and Immigration and Human Rights Policy Clinic.Spring: Secured Transactions, Bankruptcy, International Business Transactions and the Clinic.Anything I absolutely have to take before I leave Carolina? Any of these classes I should avoid like the plague??
4/15/2010 3:39:49 PM
So Carolina rejected me...yet still scheduled me for a tour yesterday and wasted my time
4/15/2010 9:21:21 PM
^^do you guys register for both semesters at the same time?
4/16/2010 5:20:51 PM
^Yes. They want us to be able to map out our year, since some classes are only offered in the fall and some are only in the spring. We can continue to tweak our schedules even after that semester has started. So, I'm not actually locked into spring until late January of next year, if that makes sense.^^I'm sorry you didn't get in. But there are enough frustrations in dealing with UNC that it may end up being a good thing for you. Does suck that they wasted your time though.
4/16/2010 6:04:52 PM
yea CITI doesn't do bar loans for Elon. i've found that with a couple of places so far*SIGH*guess i am never eating againbut seriously. wtf am i going to do? maybe i haven't maxed out my gradplus shit (though i have a feeling i have). i guess i need to go cry to our financial aid office.
4/16/2010 8:13:35 PM
not doing a bar loan, so I can't really give any advice thereI only have 4 things left that I have to do (graduation optional)One class on MondayAdv. Crim. Pro. final on ThursdayBar Prep. final (6 hrs long) on next MondayConflicts final on next Weds. (Graduation next Saturday)If only I didn't have 3L-itis. I actually took the time to figure out that I could make straight D- in all my classes and still graduate. However, I have to get 3 B+ and 1 B to get my 2.99 GPA over the 3.0 hump. We'll see how that goes.
4/18/2010 6:44:52 PM
damn luckyour grad isn't until may 23rd. SIGHclasses don't end for like 2 more weeksand we aren't allowed to make anything below a C - and have it count as "passing"...i mean if you don't need the hours then you can get below a C- in a class but it won't count toward graduation. and i need all of my hours. blahhhh.my gpa is going to go from almost a 3.5 to....LOW...cause of 3L itis. blahhhhhhhhh.
4/18/2010 7:54:23 PM
^ what is yalls average GPA?
4/18/2010 8:55:13 PM
i have NO clue.what is yours? i'm positive ours is inflated. i'd guess it would be around like a 3.1 or something. that is just a random guess though haha from knowing like 4 friends gpas and class ranks.
