We are putting word of god on lock down

^ That's the way it should be.

NC Pro-Am Tournament set to start on June 30th. New rules are that HS recruits can't participate. Not sure why amateur college athletes can play with pro's in the same organized league, but high school players can't.Zo & CJL are expected to play, possibly de Thaey and other incoming freshmen as wellJosh Powell bringing his team back too, including Fells
6/22/2011 10:00:53 AM
How is fells doing these days?
6/22/2011 3:46:36 PM
I went to the pro-am last year and had a good time. Got to see Harrow, Zo, CJL, Kyrie Irving, the Plumlees, John Henson, Reggie Bullock, Rodney Purvis and a bunch of other bigtime players out there
6/22/2011 4:06:03 PM
So the change in rules for the pro am wouldnt have effected it that much from last year, as long as incoming freshman can play. There were a few sophomore/junior kids there but I don't remember them making a huge impact. Most of the kids I was there to see were college players, pro players, or incoming freshman.

tyler's bro is a bobcat
6/23/2011 9:24:50 PM
Tyler's bro is a Bobcat Buck
6/23/2011 9:26:22 PM
^^^Purvis got to play with our guys last year, and it will also keep people like Tyler Lewis from playing with them this year.I'll be pretty excited to see DeThaey and our other incoming recruits.
6/23/2011 9:48:09 PM
Why is graham really pushing for purvis if they are both SGs?
6/26/2011 1:31:17 PM
He's thinking they're both 6'4" and athletic beasts.
6/26/2011 1:44:32 PM
yeah, they wouldn't necessarily be directly competing for playing time.
6/26/2011 1:49:58 PM
How so? One would play the 3 instead?
6/26/2011 1:59:18 PM
Because they like playing together. Purvis can play scoring point and is always a threat with the ball in his hands.
6/26/2011 2:09:40 PM
I'm certainly not a basketball expert, but I don't see anything about Gottfried's proposed offense that would keep him from playing 3 "guards" at any given time. Especially when 2 of them are 6'4" and extremely athletic.
6/26/2011 2:17:02 PM
right now we just need good basketball players. you guys can worry about the positions later.
6/26/2011 2:22:03 PM
^Good point.
6/26/2011 2:26:47 PM
If a coach were to put a non 5 star type of kid who is 6 foot 4 at the 3 spot, then yes, that would be a bad move in most situations ...But if you have two 5 star quality guys at 6-4 playing the 2 and 3 ... you WILL be able to get away with it... simply because most schools don't have enough decent guards to match up with you. Could be a huge advantage for us considering our lack of multiple top notch bigs. And we would run the hell out of their defenses as well.
6/27/2011 12:42:47 PM
yeah could be a Villanova type situation where we utilize a 3 guard lineup
6/27/2011 1:13:22 PM
then all we would need is our "mike nardi"
6/27/2011 1:20:09 PM
Hell, Nova started four guards and a power forward in 2006 (the year the were a #1 seed in the tourney)

Scout's current 2012 rankings, Graham @ 34, Lewis @ 57. Offers out for several of Top 100 guys.http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/2/1084292.html
7/5/2011 10:11:07 AM
It's stupid that a guy drops just because of an injury. I mean I can understand if it's a bad one like an ACL, but not something minor.
7/5/2011 11:21:00 AM
It's partly because people tend to lose sight of you bc they don't see you play and partly due to the fact that he is missing good opportunities to play against his peers
7/5/2011 12:44:35 PM
7/5/2011 1:35:24 PM
some recruits are climbing the ranks because they're impressing the scouts in the summer tournaments. and kids who aren't playing will lose some ranking.

ESPN ranks NC State #6 for 2012. Indiana at #1, UNC at #4. Of course, we only have 2 commits and a 3rd & 4th could push us to top 2 (depending on who it is)...Personally, i REALLY want Amile Jefferson & TJ Warren. Those two guys could give us a potential #1 class...Purvis isn't committing until February 2012, so given that we have 2 scholarships available, I would be more inclined to give it to those two...Not saying I don't want Purvis (of course I do), but we can't afford to miss out on the other hot prospects who are likely going to commit far earlier than that.
7/7/2011 9:38:05 AM
7/7/2011 11:07:24 AM
pretty solid list of schools
7/7/2011 11:25:52 AM
7/8/2011 1:21:04 PM
Do we have enough scholarships open to get Purvis, Warren and Jefferson plus the guys we already have?
7/8/2011 1:32:23 PM
^ No, not unless 1 of Howell, Brown, or Leslie go pro after next year. I limit it to those 3 because they're the only ones who realistically have a chance of going pro after having a good year.
7/8/2011 1:35:53 PM
Kentucky is now in on the TJ Warren sweepstakes, having made an official offer to him today. This is not good for us, but my fingers are still crossed.
7/8/2011 1:38:42 PM
like i said...need to land one of Amile or TJ....personally i want Amile if I had to choose.
7/8/2011 1:45:49 PM
Only because you're used to settling because you know you can't have the prom queen.
7/8/2011 1:48:01 PM
if somehow Calipari's father can buy out and plan to tear down the community center, only for us to stop him... then we have a legitimate shot at the prom queen.we just have to beat Cal in a ski race first.
7/8/2011 1:52:59 PM
get outta here Darsch
7/8/2011 1:56:50 PM
i'm beginning to think this whole town smells like doo doo
7/8/2011 2:01:28 PM
Apparently Purvis will decide in August now.
7/9/2011 9:41:14 AM
for him to push up his decision like that, it would seem that he's got a good idea of where he wants to commit, maybe down to two schools?
7/9/2011 10:00:26 AM
I would think so...previous he said he wanted to wait till his birthday (sometime in Feb) and get a chance to see how the teams played during the season. Apparently something convinced him that he doesn't need to wait and see. Hopefully that's good for us, but I don't have any idea.
7/9/2011 10:04:13 AM
if it's down to Duke, Mizzou, and State, i have to feel that it's really down to Duke/Stateplease, don't go to Duke. we need another Rodney filling up the bucket at State.
7/9/2011 10:14:28 AM
Aww here it goes, the PurvPack is gonna have the PNC Center rockin come August
7/9/2011 12:11:02 PM
Duke is Purvis' leader according to his tweet

7/11/2011 4:35:32 PM
I put zero stock in that tweet. he could be sincere, and he could just as easily be trying to mislead people. twitter is stupid.
