CJ Clark to the portal….damn that sucks
11/30/2023 11:23:31 AM
least shocking news ever that MJ is in portalNot sure where he ends up, maybe Kentucky takes our sloppy seconds again. CJ Clark leaving sucks this makes 12 leaving, mostly offsenive players makes me wonder if there is coaching issues on that side of the ball.
11/30/2023 1:22:54 PM
Ehh most of the dudes leaving weren’t playing. It makes sense they’d move on. I think some of those guys just weren’t very good. It’ll be telling where they end up.
11/30/2023 1:26:46 PM
I can't believe that after spending a year in a new offense some players have decided they don't fit and are leaving!!! Must be coaching issues!
11/30/2023 1:50:13 PM
We also have a decent amount of talent coming in at receiver.Biggest losses so far imoMorrisClarkAllen (and Houston kinda?)HarrisRest are either no impact beyond depth/hard to tell, since they haven't been playing. Rooks got snaps but couldn't catch first 6 games
11/30/2023 2:00:39 PM
11/30/2023 2:10:59 PM
Narveson going pro. Thats a loss. He was pretty solid this year.
11/30/2023 2:20:56 PM
Wasn't this his last year anyways? At Iowa in 2018 and 2019, 2020-2022 at WKU, 2023 here. That's six seasons (including a redshirt year and a free covid year)
11/30/2023 2:28:16 PM
Oh. I just saw he posted a “entering the NFL draft” graphic and figured maybe he did have another year.
11/30/2023 2:29:30 PM
Clark leaving is certainly concerning. He started every game this year. No doubt he'll end up in the SEC.
11/30/2023 2:38:40 PM
11/30/2023 2:49:00 PM
oh god there are people on the internet who think we should get ben finley back
11/30/2023 2:51:46 PM
^well if you can get him for cheap why not. A certain shitty NFL coach said a QB in the portal will cost you 1-2 million, figure Finley would be available for under $100k
11/30/2023 3:54:08 PM
Because Finley is really, really, really bad. No reason to waste a scholarship on him. Maybe if he paid $100k to come here, not the other way aroundAdding people from the portal should improve your team. Adding Finley does not make us better. It's very simple.]
11/30/2023 3:55:48 PM
I heard Armstrong got a few hundred K
11/30/2023 4:07:27 PM
in all seriousness should we try to get Grayson McCall?
11/30/2023 4:47:29 PM
Yes and Armstrong was a former all-acc qb. Finley has thrown more interceptions than TDs
11/30/2023 5:07:00 PM
lil finley<lil Lex Mj may be headed to coastal toReunite with beck. Cj clark likely sec (auburn, Missouri??)Looking at the Mississippi state qb and Maryland db toReplace those losses. Will be interesting to see if lex gets any snaps in the bowl game.
11/30/2023 6:18:52 PM
I doubt it since a walk on is ahead of him on the depth chart.
11/30/2023 6:27:25 PM
11/30/2023 7:11:15 PM
Oh i have no doubt that the top end players command 7 figure deals. We aren't going to be in that market in all seriousness and that's ok.I'm sure as shit not "donating" money so that the weirdos in charge of these collectives can continue to hang out with college kids.
11/30/2023 7:31:20 PM
I have faith anae will evaluate those in the portal and bring in someone like BA to compliment his offense. The REAL issue is retaining Gibson.
11/30/2023 8:10:31 PM
11/30/2023 8:22:54 PM
We should get DJ U
11/30/2023 8:24:36 PM
11/30/2023 8:34:56 PM
Just a great system for all that’s been created tons of fun! I guess doesn’t matter because it will still make tons of money no matter how much of a cluster this all is.
11/30/2023 9:57:28 PM
Terrell Timmons entering the portal as well.
12/1/2023 11:44:11 AM
Lyndon Cooper too
12/1/2023 12:28:50 PM
Hard not to blame Timmons…there wouldn’t be a whole lot of touches for him with KC, Paylor, Wesley Grimes, and Noah Rogers on the field. Maybe he doesn’t want to play with Bynum Brown either?
12/1/2023 12:53:20 PM
Looks like MJ will have to change his Coastal plans now that they've nixed their NIL collective lulzhttps://twitter.com/wintersportslaw/status/1730240192831742120[Edited on December 1, 2023 at 1:29 PM. Reason : .]
12/1/2023 1:27:58 PM
Oh man i can't believe that smaller schools/non-powerhouse schools can't get enough fans to buy into this scheme!
12/1/2023 1:55:40 PM
Originally our NIL thing was doing $25k for each player on the football roster. I’m guessing that kept some dudes around who otherwise would’ve and should’ve transferred down a level in competition. I saw a tweet that the NIL wasn’t doing that anymore. I’m not saying everybody leaving was a bum that was just here for the $25k. But it had to factor in for some of them.
12/1/2023 4:13:17 PM
Honestly besides Clark, no one leaving is really a surprise or unusual. A bunch of underachieving guys who either couldn't get playing time or for the ones who did, did nothing with it. And then there's Harris, who lost his spot because of injury and his replacement balled out.Even Clark I can understand not just from a money perspective. He can go to another program, play DT in a 4 man front and vastly improve his NFL stock by proving he's more than just a big body capable of taking up space (and double teams) in the middle.None of these transfers are incredibly troubling to me.
12/1/2023 4:27:41 PM
Right. Which is why I’m saying their incentive to stay ($25k in NIL) is now gone. So some dead weight is moving out. Makes sense.[Edited on December 1, 2023 at 5:42 PM. Reason : H]
12/1/2023 5:39:16 PM
Yes. Mostly I'm just venting because elsewhere on the internet many state fans are like OMFG THE SKY IS FALLING because we have like 15 portaleros, when honestly it isn't that big of a deal (and wouldn't have been even pre-NIL)
12/1/2023 6:22:09 PM
Ah yeah I gotcha. I agree! From a depth standpoint, we still gotta replace these guys. But most of them are very replaceable
12/1/2023 6:31:47 PM
Yeah I sure hope we can find a couple receivers who can't catch to replace Smith and Timmons
12/1/2023 6:46:12 PM
Orange bowl bound!!!
12/3/2023 10:20:48 AM
I wasn't watching super close but I don't think Louisville got beat bad enough for that to happen, unless I've just missed your electronic sarcasm
12/3/2023 10:46:57 AM
Yeah there’s too much head to head data (imo) for that to happen. UL gonna fall below ND and State, both teams they beat head to head? I know ND doesn’t matter for the Orange Bowl. But the way the rankings are set up, it shows the committee valuing head to head games. We lost to ND, we’re ranked below them. UL beat ND, they’re ranked ahead of ND. Would be a weird choice for the committed to drop UL that low. Especially after a loss to a CFP bound team
12/3/2023 11:03:46 AM
Yea but have you considered?
12/3/2023 11:24:47 AM
So how does this affect our chances to go to the poptart bowl with edible mascot
12/3/2023 12:48:11 PM
Kansas State in the "Pop Tarts Bowl"
12/3/2023 5:13:51 PM

12/3/2023 5:17:17 PM
Phew i am glad the cfp committee didn't screw us out of the pop tart bowl as well
12/3/2023 5:38:19 PM
LOL pop tart bowl, how convenient.GO PACK AMIRITE
12/3/2023 8:38:14 PM
