I was at the game, and then watched the broadcast for the first time last night and I definitely thought it seemed a little "closer" on TV than it did in person. Maybe it was the crowd noise or something but in person I was never really scared of UT losing the game, just seemed to have the momentum the entire game... even the Bray goal line shit call (which they showed on the jumbotron) just seemed to piss the crowd off more than worry them. But on the broadcast last night I was like "hmmmm, I'm glad State didnt score on that first possession of the second half"

^^From the crowd noise you would have assumed that it was a Tennessee home game on 101.5.[Edited on September 4, 2012 at 7:45 AM. Reason : -]

Hey guys, just got back from the game. We sucked.

Only played 4 games against BCS teams that weren't in the ACC or Big East since then.2004 Ohio State2008 South Carolina2009 South Carolina2012 Tennessee

^^What does that translate to? 0 - 4?^Ha. Oh, thanks.[Edited on September 4, 2012 at 9:12 AM. Reason : -]

UT played well and deserved to win, but take away that ridiculous 45 seconds that consisted of the following 6 plays and we might have been able to win this game.1. Horrible Glennon INT2. Amerson blown coverage, TD3. Kickoff, downed4. Horrible Glennon fumble/safety5. Punt/kickoff by State6. Horrible LB recognition, long TD run for Corduroy 16 pts in less than a minute. The game was pretty much over right then. It was like the team just forgot they were even playing at that point.
9/4/2012 9:14:03 AM
i have to say that Tennessee fans were some of the worst fans I've ever engaged with. They are literally on the same level as South carolina fans. that was pretty disappointing. They were complete assholes. it was a total 180 on saturday night for clemson vs auburn. auburn fans were great.
9/4/2012 9:18:44 AM
Tennessee fans are the Maryland fans of the SEC. Everyone in their conference hates them.
9/4/2012 9:27:38 AM
9/4/2012 9:53:52 AM
Yes, especially on MARTA after the game.
9/4/2012 10:01:28 AM
^^ I was like "why do y'all keep doing that Florida Gator chant? that's pretty lame".
9/4/2012 10:11:35 AM
I wonder which school made up that retarded chant anyway - UT or UF? It's great to be a Gator Hater.
9/4/2012 10:32:43 AM
University of Miami does the same cheer (great to be a miami hurricane)That was the first time I heard it... it's terrible
9/4/2012 10:35:31 AM
Georgia has it too and I think Auburn does it.
9/4/2012 10:37:52 AM
Being that my sis went to auburn and i've been to a few tenn games i will agree that they are shitty fans... the thing that drives me nuts is FUCKING ROCKYTOP....they play that song all the time and you can't help but sing it and then you say tennessee and you're like DAMMIT I'VE BEEN FOOLED AGAIN!
9/4/2012 10:38:07 AM
I was waiting for Rocky Top, but I didn't hear it a single time during this game. But the acoustics didn't carry over anything their band played, so I might have missed it.
9/4/2012 10:39:20 AM
I think they played Rocky Top everytime a player tied his shoes.
9/4/2012 10:40:16 AM
I sat next to the State band and hardly heard anything from the Tennessee band...
9/4/2012 10:41:47 AM
That's where we were. We were in 130, and Tennessee's band just didn't make it to our side of the stadium.
9/4/2012 10:42:36 AM
I knew what each band was playing, but it wasn't loud like I'd expected. The think the acoustics just move the noise to the field and not around the Dome.
9/4/2012 10:44:41 AM
9/4/2012 12:49:11 PM
we had only one problem with UT fans the entire time we were down there and that was right when we were getting ready to head in to the stadium. other then that, all the UT fans we met were pretty chill.
9/4/2012 1:03:08 PM
We kept laughing at them because it sounds like they are going around shouting, "Let's go Balls!"
9/4/2012 1:30:21 PM
9/4/2012 9:31:44 PM
Rocky Top is probably in the top five tradition things about college football and I don't even like Tennessee.
9/4/2012 9:41:27 PM
Whoever said they couldn't hear the song is craZy. The whole crowd was singing the damn thing you could clearly understand each word. I have traveled to a lot of away games for the panthers and state football and basketball and the ONLY time anyone has ever talked junk to me or tried to fight me are UT fans, one USC fan, and some ECU clowns. That's it. Atlanta was a sh!t show and with the dragon con good lord

9/5/2012 9:12:25 AM
What if they wanted to air it out? They could yell "Let's go Vols, deep! Go Vols deep on their asses!"
9/5/2012 9:15:34 AM
Yeah I've got to agree that UT fans just sucked. Several walked through our tailgate and when we didn't say anything to them it was it caught them off guard so they had to come back and talk shit. I was told that I wasn't a gentleman because I was wearing shorts to a football game. After the game and throughout Saturday at the Braves game, they were cordial and I didn't really have too many issues.I did find out if they get in your face and yell Go Vols and you respond with what? No balls. They get really pissed and some want to fight
9/5/2012 9:21:47 AM
9/5/2012 12:24:21 PM
When I visited the Tennessee stadium, my dad's friend (a Vol) was swearing to us that "Rocky Top" was specifically written to be the Vols fight song, even though we assured him it wasn't.
9/5/2012 12:30:50 PM
unfortunately the bar we spent most of our time at had rocky top on the jukebox. it was played non-stop the entire night thursday and fridayalso, very poor showing from state fans out in buckhead]
9/5/2012 1:28:20 PM
i watched this game and i saw much better athletes on the tennessee sidethis is the result of SEC recruiting vs the shit we've had for the past 3-4 years
9/5/2012 1:41:09 PM
I think it's more because we don't really have anyone to play the 2. we've got a couple guys that are good at the 3, and maybe one guy for the 1, but really no one who can step up and play the 2 the way it really needs to be played
9/5/2012 1:47:47 PM
I'm absolutely shocked by that statement.
9/5/2012 1:48:19 PM
ahahaha
9/5/2012 1:50:41 PM
guys guys, we must move on... otherwise how are you all going to get football amnesia and claim this game was closer than it was later in the season??
9/5/2012 2:24:21 PM
it was decided by 3 big plays.
9/5/2012 2:29:41 PM
Guys! Guys! Can't we just listen to the radio or something?
9/5/2012 2:32:59 PM
^^ haha... if they only had not scored those two TDs and got that safety! and if you want to go that route, it was 4 plays with the blown Bray TD call. Also if you want to go the "what if" route then 9 times out of 10 that safety would have been a UT touchdown with three UT players on Glennon. Game was never in doubt after the 7-6 point and could have easily been a lot lot worse.[Edited on September 5, 2012 at 2:47 PM. Reason : d]
9/5/2012 2:40:33 PM
Can't argue with much you've said post-game...except for this:
9/5/2012 2:44:58 PM
well every single replay I've seen and every single highlight or discussion of the game that I have seen said it was a TD. Horrible form by Bray, but still a TD.To me, it looks like the nose of the ball is right at the line, maybe not even touching, but as we all know, a football isnt a cylinder, so if the nose is right at the line and the ball bulges out then its a TD.yes, I said "ball bulges"my point is it is stupid to say "oh it was only this play or that play, we were 2-5 plays away from winning" as it was also 2-3 plays away from being a 28 point win.[Edited on September 5, 2012 at 2:56 PM. 9/5/2012 2:47:04 PM
dude, the problem with every replay is the same problem that every goal line replay has: skewed perspective. I don't know why, but the camera crews NEVER have an actual goal-line angle. it's always skewed. Take off the orange glasses and acknowledge what damned near everyone else has: the replay was inconclusive. If they had called it a touchdown, I wouldn't disagree with a call not to overturn it. There simply isn't conclusive evidence, even though I think it probably was a TD
9/5/2012 2:53:23 PM
It was close. Call on the field was going to stay regardless because of the spit second timing.
9/5/2012 2:54:47 PM
thats a pretty good goal line angle, and read my main point on the last message... I agree it could have gone either way, looked like a TD to me, but could have gone either way, but the point is you cant play the "what if these plays were different" angle just on one side.
9/5/2012 2:55:24 PM
and yet, it's STILL skewed
9/5/2012 3:01:06 PM
and its still a LOT "closer" than the big plays you all want to conveniently dismiss... Amerson wishes he was mere inches away from CP, Rogers, and CP again... once again, read my point.
