Even with the annual fee?
5/1/2014 10:23:30 PM
taking that into consideration, maybe not (although I can't remember if they still waive the first year's fee)HOWEVER there is something to be said for your credit rating for a long-term AMEX

Did another churn last week. 3 approvals, 2 denials, and 1 pending, about what I expected.Signed into credit karma for the first time in a while "$112,400 Total Limits"
5/21/2014 11:20:47 AM
^ what's your current score on there? 749 for me 27 total accounts, 17 credit card, $108,000 total limits...1% utilization ]
5/21/2014 11:25:53 AM
762 My avg account age sucks dick
5/21/2014 1:55:03 PM
w00t 100K aa miles just hit my account
5/23/2014 5:11:43 PM
just updated my Credit KarmaScore: 791 (my annual score some credit card gives me says its 820)Total Balances: $6.40Total Limits: $105,500Total Utilization: 1%not too shabby
5/23/2014 6:43:28 PM
Damn. Pretty low balance.
5/23/2014 10:45:05 PM
I don't have them linked so they must have data from right after I paid them off. I usually charge a few K a month but pay it off on the due date (to maximize interest income)
5/24/2014 12:06:20 PM
Is the Chase SW card that's offering 50K points right now good for 50K UR or do those 50k points have to be used toward a SW flight? I'm hoping it's 50K UR...
5/27/2014 8:53:16 AM
Technically they're Southwest miles. Still pretty useful though. If you want 50k UR points there are cards that will give you that: http://millionmilesecrets.com/]
5/27/2014 9:42:53 AM
fuck. yes.just received my [4th] Southwest Card...once I complete the spend I'll have enough points for the companion pass.weird thing is when i got my last card (also southwest) from chase 6-7 they turned me down initially. i had to call in and reallocate credit limit from another card to get the card. this one they just approved and gave me a >$10k limit.]
5/30/2014 5:31:35 PM
It depends if its biz vs personal.Chase gave me the smackdown last churn for getting another business card but the same day they were more than happy to give me another personal card.
6/2/2014 9:44:10 AM
In this case, they were both business cards.

Oh ok, that's odd then.
6/2/2014 1:23:47 PM
i assume that site for selling UR points a few pages back never worked - 1.7 cents was too good to be true?
6/4/2014 3:55:29 PM
I never checked out the one you suggested. Just booked two economy tickets to Germany and France for 120K UR pts + $200 in taxes. Would have cost $3200 retail
6/4/2014 5:08:37 PM
2.5 cents/point
6/4/2014 5:23:11 PM
Yep! Plus a free stopover. Gotta love the free stopovers.
6/5/2014 8:58:54 AM
Where are you flying into? By brother is flying into Frankfurt for a little less than $1k each. He was trying to get to Paris, but it was something like $450 more to do that, and he's travelling 4 deep.
6/5/2014 9:16:16 AM
Munich
6/5/2014 10:15:26 AM
Anyone else having a hard time selling points? Trying to move United and Starwood. Not as easy as I would like.
6/11/2014 10:00:34 AM
I sold united no problem last year, but never starwood.I've been actually using my points this year, so no recent pts sold.
6/11/2014 10:16:09 AM
Yeah it feels like it's been more challenging this past 2 months
6/11/2014 10:21:46 AM
Maybe they are cracking down.
6/11/2014 11:04:03 AM
So I got the Virgin Card to get 25k miles...now that I can't get 50k Hilton points out of them (37.5k now), what should I do with them?]
6/11/2014 12:03:56 PM
Only 25K?I got it as well. Plan to xfer to hilton anyway. Not a great bonus, but since I had only 1 boa card I figure I'd get instant approval which I did.
6/11/2014 1:34:44 PM
Good point, it was probably 50k...doubt I woulda bothered for 25k. I'll probably still transfer to Hilton too but was hoping there were some other options.
6/11/2014 10:08:17 PM
Not much for us east coasters.
6/11/2014 11:10:56 PM
Southwest Companion Pass Status: Approved!!!!!I don't have the physical pass yet, but it seems like that thing is mostly symbolic, right David0603? I'm assuming I can go ahead and book travel with my +1, but I'll confirm later.]
6/15/2014 11:58:11 AM
Yes you can
6/15/2014 1:40:44 PM
I need like... an entry-level credit card. For reals. I often get "insufficient credit history" (because I went through college without any kind of credit generating payment). I got rejected for an Amazon credit card AND a JCPenny store card. The fuck. State Employees Credit union supposedly has a kinda entry-level card.
6/15/2014 8:43:42 PM
I thought capital one had one as well.
6/15/2014 10:10:26 PM
Does anyone know how often SW runs those miles transfer discounts? Once just ended a few weeks ago, and my +1 has like 65k miles to transfer to me, but it would cost like 500 bucks or something ^^ You can get a secured credit credit card that might help if you don't have any credit history...I think store cards (like Kohls) might be easier to get than others. You're kinda late to the game...you didn't know you have to build your credit history? What's your credit score?]

so what's the best rewards/perks/cash-back card to get right now? i'm not interested in airline mileage cards as I don't fly anywhere nearly enough to justify that kind of card.
6/24/2014 11:39:58 AM
Chase
6/24/2014 2:28:43 PM
Barclaycard Arrival Plus ain't bad for earning if you don't care about airline points. I got it to cover stuff like theme park tickets and airbnb that CC points can't.
6/24/2014 10:38:24 PM
What do y'all think of the new Sams Club credit card. No signing bonus, but..5% cashback on Gas (nationwide & at Sams Gas)3% on Dining and Travel1% on Everything elseNo Annual Fee (but sams club membership required)http://www.samsclub.com/sams/pagedetails/content.jsp?pageName=creditMarketing

just got to reading the fine print. Looks like cash back rewards are only calculated and awarded once a year. That doesn't seem normal, but maybe i'm just new to this.
6/26/2014 9:20:09 AM
^It's not normal for most credit cards, but that's how Costco's CC is too
6/26/2014 9:52:40 AM
REI's is included in your dividend each year as well. 15% back every year.
