Newton is impossible to sack

It's so nice to have a good O-line

So far. I recall a lot of teams having trouble sacking Vick at first, but figuring out how to do it meant figuring out how to demolish the Falcons.

Then again, I'm in the wrong area to watch the games. Is he being hard to sack due to speed or do due smartly throwing the ball away?

Vick is elusive but a corner could sack him easily if he got his hands on him.

Newton is like Vick + Rothlesberger

tough to convert on 3rd downs when the zebras arent bailing you out every time

anytime something bad happens, its the refs

selling your team short, they are playing better and actually covering now instead of grappling, give them credit

Our punt return teams are terrible and it has nothing to do with Armanti

Anyway, what's our 3rd down conversion rate today? It's embarrassing for Atlanta

weird way to put it, makes no sense... it would be more a really good team that plays like shit and doesnt make the playoffs. They were one of the top teams going into the year. You make it sound like they are a shit team that happens to be playing really good and might make the playoffs

no theyre a mediocre team that a lot of people thought would be good but arent

they still have an outside shot at making the playoffs if they win trash games like this though

ah I see, the experts were all wrong but tower knew from the beginning but his voice wasnt heard.

And a team that had the best record in the NFC last year who added better players is mediocre. Do tell me where they got worse since last year? Michael Jenkins missing is the key?

I think what you really mean is that you dont like them so you were pissed that people picked them so high so now you are happy that they arent playing that good.

if preseason media predictions mattered the panthers would have like 3 SBs now

this falcons team isnt good. stop being a homer

not being a homer at all... they are playing like shit. I've said that several times...

but, do tell:

its not just preseason predictions, its the best record in the NFC last year and added better players. Do tell me, at the START of this season, before Game #1, where you saw that they were worse than last year when they definitely werent mediocre.

waiting...

while I wait for this stunning insight... why is this a "trash game"? You hate the Panthers too? Saying that a win over them doesnt mean as much? This is the NFL, there are no style wins, and they are playing really well this year, much better than people expected, especially on offense.

im not sure how what i thought at the beginning of the season is relevant at all to how good a team actually is. teams with non-elite QBs go from good to bad very quickly just based on match ups and randomness

but if you are curious I thought the falcons made a bad move when they traded a ton of picks to take a WR because even though I think julio jones will be a stud 1 WR can only do so much, as steve smith can attest the last couple years

theyre more of an old school team in a league where all the top teams spread you out with 5 good WRs (not a couple top tier ones) and throw it 40 times a game. either that or they have a great defense which i dont think the falcons have. michael turner is going to get old one of these years. etc

This has the makings of every other panthers game this year. Competitive play, close game, still will end in a "L".

just like last week the panthers are clearly outplaying their opponent but blowing the game with a combination of rookie mistakes and bad coaching

generally i am very opposed to spending on second tier FAs

but I cant hate on that move too much because they got him relatively cheap. he's not a huge difference maker though

^^^^^ I agree he is overrated, but hes better than what they had.

^^^^^^ Jones doesnt have to be a #1, hes a #2. They didnt trade any players off of last years team to get him. What you thought in the preseason matters because you claim that they are a shitty, mediocre team when they are a good team (as evidenced by last years record and adding better players) that is playing like shit. Big difference. Execution and talent do not automatically go together.

I dont see that at all, not CLEARLY, for one, Turner is running all over them

and Turner fantasy owners just got pissed haha

but lets get this back on this game before someone wrongly accuses me of getting the thread off topic as usual

i mean, you realize that their record last season isnt relevant at all right? the panthers went 12-4 the year before jake delhomme died as an nfl qb. isnt there an average attrition of like 5 playoffs teams a year in the nfl?

true, but thats because a team changes, key players age out of their prime etc. So, I asked you, what did you see as the big difference between a 13-3 team last year and a "mediocre" team this year? not talking about execution because obviously you dont know how that will go before the season, we are talking about the makeup of the team, the roster, the players.

I contend that they are a really good team that is playing bad and not a mediocre team that is playing mediocre. Going by your logic the Falcons were supposed to be bad and are proving that while I say they were supposed to be good and arent living up to that

BEST 1-5 TEAM EVER!

i can't wait to hear all the local homers talk about how that is six rushing tds for newton and how he has exceeded expectations. he has 1 1/5 rushing touchdowns for every loss! that has to be some kind of record.

but lets cheer up, we're on pace for 2 2/3 wins this year. that's ALMOST a whole win more than last year!
