^^wow, thats the most absurd thing I've ever heard you say
11/8/2011 5:36:46 PM
11/8/2011 5:39:18 PM
11/8/2011 5:40:24 PM
face wasn't completely wrong with that statement, far from absurd.
11/8/2011 6:45:07 PM
its very absurd to think that practicing and teaching techniques do very little to improve rebounding, laughably absurd
11/8/2011 6:58:54 PM
^of course. i also think its absurd to think that the team hasn't practiced rebounding techniques before this year. that's not to say that MG isn't better at teaching and practicing rebounding techniques.

https://www.google.com/search?q=scientific+studies+has+shown+rebounding+is+a+function+of+talent&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-amaybe i didnt search hard enough
11/8/2011 7:41:28 PM
It is very fitting that the first hit from that search is the Wikipedia article on autism.
11/8/2011 7:56:37 PM
i had that typed out as well but decided to be nice lol
11/8/2011 8:05:56 PM
and here, all this time, i thought rebounding was a function of talent, spacing/position, and boxing out
11/8/2011 8:08:57 PM
who wants the ball more?
11/8/2011 11:50:45 PM
be serious guys, rebounding has almost zero to do with coaching. That should be obvious to a casual fan.Rebound rates are some of the most consistent statistics from team to team, season to season, and level to level.Don't lose all context just because we have a new coach. Losing smith and harrow will improve our rebounding substantially. Changing our coach means dick.
11/9/2011 3:14:03 AM
tracyyyyyyy SMIF
11/9/2011 4:18:34 AM
I'm still waiting for links to these rebounding studies to be posted.
11/9/2011 6:34:56 AM
scientific studies, eh? let's just hope this thread doesn't turn into that crap "global warming" thread in soap box, with a bunch of worthless, skewed charts and 2,000 pages of even more worthless bickering
11/9/2011 6:47:33 AM

11/9/2011 10:10:59 AM
Giglio's got our back.
11/9/2011 10:31:23 AM
I like how coach refers to "us" and "our" and "we" even when talking about the past.

Shrug...dude is bringing in a great class. Everyone can think he's overrated all they want, but if he keeps recruiting well then I don't care what they say.
11/9/2011 10:55:46 AM
11/9/2011 10:58:10 AM
UCLA currently has the most NBA players IIRC at that list
11/9/2011 10:58:41 AM
How many highly rated classes has Shaka had?
11/9/2011 10:58:54 AM
I guess they're trying to say what coach is bringing in the best talent and has no performance to back it up? I dunno
11/9/2011 11:02:07 AM
It's Jeff Goodman. He talks shit about State every chance he's gets. Don't bother with him.
11/9/2011 11:04:04 AM
LOOK AT ALL THESE GOOD-ASS RECRUITS WHAT A SCRUB
11/9/2011 11:14:50 AM
^^ they polled the coaches, this isn't his opinion
11/9/2011 11:18:47 AM
big deal...guys are just jealous he pulled in purvis and warren (and maybe jefferson) w/out coaching a game in 2 years
11/9/2011 11:22:12 AM
But here at thewolfweb.com, we take a different look as well - one that had more than 100 high-level Sports Talk posters respond to the following question about their peers and recruiting.Who is the most underrated national reporter douchebag-wise?1. Greg Doyel, cbssportsline2. Heather Dinich, espn3. Jeff Goodman, cbssportsline4. Jason Whitlock, foxsports5. gunzz, packpride
11/9/2011 11:23:22 AM
Dinich over Doyel.his coverage of the unc shit won me over (kinda).she is still just a raging cunt.[Edited on November 9, 2011 at 11:26 AM. Reason : she's still mad we beat the greatest indiana football player of all time in randel-el]
11/9/2011 11:25:24 AM
11/9/2011 11:31:51 AM
how can you be over-rated if you actually get results, recruiting-wise? i don't understand
11/9/2011 11:33:27 AM
How can you be overrated when you haven't even coached a regular season game at your new school? Not to mention his big class is a year away. Stupid list is stupid.
11/9/2011 11:35:57 AM
Maybe the coaches that voted him as an overrated recruited believe that this class is fluky (for whatever reason) and that MG won't continue to have this type of recruiting in the success?
11/9/2011 11:40:37 AM
11/9/2011 11:40:52 AM
He got good recruits at Bama too. Maybe they're just basing it on whatever freak incident it was that led to their prized 5* leaving the team and making him resign.[Edited on November 9, 2011 at 11:58 AM. Reason : ]
11/9/2011 11:45:42 AM
Just to be mentioned, good or bad, by other coaches mean you are at least relevant. To quote Riley Freeman, "If niggas ain't hatin' on you, you doin' somethin' wrong."
11/9/2011 11:49:08 AM
^I don't know if I agree with this. I remember one of the Carolina football players making the comment that because they were being discussed in the same sentence as Ohio State and USC (regarding NCAA violations), they felt it an honor because those were big-time programs.Still, this does play into Gottfried's mantra of "we have something to prove".
11/9/2011 12:12:57 PM
ha i remember before the LSU game there were some LSU fans on insidecarolina saying things like "this just means you've made it as a football program". close.
11/9/2011 12:24:30 PM
^I heard the same thing and all I could think of was the line out of the Adam Sandler version of The Longest Yard where the former FSU QB is asked how he use to get his teams pumped up and his response was something like, "We'd schedule a powder puff to beat up on, something like a [insert small school] or Appalachian State."I had a good time reminding Carolina fans that they were LSU's powder-puff game, colors and all.[/hijack]
