No e-wars in the Snow thread. This is a happy thread GODDAMNIT!
1/28/2014 9:42:51 AM
New runs give us 6-10" possibly, which means we will get nothing of course haha
1/28/2014 9:45:00 AM
My puppy was promised snow.. We can't let her down.
1/28/2014 9:46:17 AM
My dog hates snow, cant wait to let him outside in it this evening and watch him freak out!
1/28/2014 9:46:48 AM
Has anyone tried the "Future" animation on this?http://www.weather.com/weather/map/interactive/USNC0558:1DOesn't make much sense...
1/28/2014 9:49:01 AM
WxSouth saying 6"-10" widespread from RDU to ORF. 12" in some places. If trend continues NE parts of NC could see temps of 0 degrees on Thursday morning
1/28/2014 9:49:54 AM
Excuse my ignorance. What ORF?My dog loves snow as well, can't wait. [Edited on January 28, 2014 at 9:58 AM. Reason : Fayetteville's airport?]
1/28/2014 9:57:51 AM

^here we go.
1/28/2014 10:02:53 AM
Snow in Winston-Salem.
1/28/2014 10:11:08 AM
Can someone smarter than me confirm what appears to be killer runs for RDU coming in on models?
1/28/2014 10:17:31 AM
Latest model I have seen puts us near 1" QPF at least eastern side of the county. At 15:1 potential thats over a foot
1/28/2014 10:20:29 AM
14Z RAP:
1/28/2014 10:22:46 AM
Nothing will happen
1/28/2014 10:24:13 AM
^^ 1" = 1' of accumulation correct?
1/28/2014 10:26:49 AM
someone just tell me when this is going to start so i can leave a couple of ours ahead of time...right now, i'm not planning on staying at work past noon
1/28/2014 10:28:25 AM
Depends on the ratio they have been talking 15:1 possibly which would be 15" obviously but 12" probably a more likely number. Hope the atmosphere moistens up quick and the snow starts coming down sooner rather than later
1/28/2014 10:28:49 AM
Eh, depends. Usually you can assume 10:1 snow/QPF ratio, but it can get up to 15:1.
1/28/2014 10:29:34 AM
^^^Noon is definitely fine, but I think you could go till 3pm and be ok. Keep tabs on the radar via mobile app if you can.
1/28/2014 10:32:20 AM
I want this here so I can stop flipping between threads.
1/28/2014 10:32:25 AM
Thank you for that.
1/28/2014 10:40:40 AM
You are welcome.
1/28/2014 10:41:54 AM
didn't fit on a single screen for me
1/28/2014 10:44:59 AM
Why you gotta repost and steal my thunder?
1/28/2014 10:46:20 AM
That'd be good if that is legit virga. Bodes well for raising dew points.
1/28/2014 10:46:23 AM
^^ yours was for a phone, mines for a monitor
1/28/2014 10:47:15 AM
They look exactly the same to me.
1/28/2014 10:48:04 AM
definitely had some virga going on in gso, should start hitting the ground shortly
1/28/2014 10:49:02 AM
^ what does it all mean, basil
1/28/2014 10:51:31 AM
the column is still dry, there may be snow falling but it wont reach the ground until it saturates the columnif we can get it saturated now we wont have to wait when the heavier banding precip gets here.[Edited on January 28, 2014 at 10:54 AM. Reason : .]
1/28/2014 10:53:54 AM
We still have a 5pm meeting scheduled
1/28/2014 11:00:50 AM
english holmes...we are not all computer weather whizzes. How much snow is Raleigh going to get?
1/28/2014 11:02:16 AM
ok snow you can start now i'm ready to leave
1/28/2014 11:02:20 AM
4-6" seems like the most likely outcome right at the moment but always could change.
1/28/2014 11:04:48 AM
still almost impossible to get a handle on the total snowfall. some are saying right now between hwy 85-95 may be the sweet spot
1/28/2014 11:06:20 AM
Enough to be a work from home day tmw for all of Raleigh almost assuredly
1/28/2014 11:07:14 AM
sucks to be me, its almost impossible to do my job from home these days...
1/28/2014 11:09:28 AM
I, too, cannot do my job from home. I do not find this to suck at all
1/28/2014 11:11:18 AM
WRAL just updated their projections. Looks like that band of 6-10" got a lot smaller/higher on the map.
1/28/2014 11:20:47 AM
INTERESTING.
1/28/2014 11:21:02 AM
what time are we looking for this to start...~3pm?
1/28/2014 11:35:20 AM
