sometimes I wonder if you people actually watch the show. it was clear that the purpose of the bomb was not to blow up the damn island... it was to dissipate the energy... that implies the energy from the bomb would go towards canceling out most of the EM energy from the island as opposed to generating a massive island-engulfing explosion.not to mention that it was NOT the hydrogen bomb its self that was detonated... only the fission trigger, which would only be in the lower kiloton range. lol, I didn't know/recall that the fission trigger would cause such a drastically less potent effect than it would if the shell was around it. Although, it makes sense to a certain extent thinking about it. I don't recall the exact conversations. I thought they just took the "core" or fission trigger because it was a helluva lot easier to move than the entire bomb. I didn't recall or realize that it was because it would be less potent and that's all they really needed. My line of thinking was that while it was intended to cancel out the electro magnetic field, it's still a huge ass bomb. A fully swung baseball bat would cancel out a roach on my wall, but it's going to cancel out some of my wall too. But taking the "just the fission trigger, so not as potent" part into consideration, that makes sense of why the buildings may still be around.

Just throwing out a possibility here (admittedly with a lot of hypotheticals), but...What if it was just the trigger that went off and it did have significantly less explosive power? Say it only blew up the pocket and negated the electromagnetic energy. What if doing this somehow not only prevented 815 from crashing, but "corrected" time and wiped out the time-travelers, leaving only the people who were in their original time. Maybe the electromagnetic pocket being destroyed also somehow caused the island to gradually sink (through a chain of events that left enough time for Roger to escape with Ben the child). I have no idea how this would pertain to so many people not ending up on the island, though. Maybe Jacob, for some reason, has no motive anymore to "push" them toward the island anymore in this alternate "corrected" timeline, or maybe he doesn't exist in it. I don't know. It seems like a stretch, and it is, but maybe not as much of a stretch as some of the past things they've done on Lost.

did you not read what I just wrote?

you may have... i was just reiterating the idea after all the [words]

I did read what you wrote, smath. I was using what you said about the trigger to show that maybe it was solely the bomb that caused the alternate timeline. I missed the other post where you talked about the EM energy and the buoyancy of the island. So, I guess I'm agreeing with you.On a side note...I would rate this season much higher than 3/10. I've enjoyed it more than I've enjoyed any Lost season since Season 2, to be honest. I realize I'm in the minority.
3/20/2010 5:58:17 PM
oh ok... i guess i had a minor brainfart... it's hard to read a person's tone in text sometimes.

^ i thought he said they never should have went?
3/21/2010 8:06:43 PM
^^maybe they left for other reasons and the sinking happened later.
3/22/2010 9:22:03 AM
Richard episode tonight!
3/23/2010 9:44:07 AM
in regards to the island sinking and i know my memory is a bit fuzzy so maybe i am making this up, but in an earlier season, didnt everyone on the beach have to move because the tides kept coming closer and closer to them as the days went on? if that is tru, couldn't that lead to the theory of the tides continuing to go further inland and almost "swallowing" the island gradually over time?[Edited on March 23, 2010 at 11:53 AM. 3/23/2010 11:52:58 AM
i don't remember that at all
3/23/2010 11:56:24 AM
like i said my memory is fuzzy so maybe i am making it up
3/23/2010 11:59:01 AM
i don't remember that at all.
3/23/2010 11:59:22 AM
You're thinking of Deep Impact
3/23/2010 12:01:28 PM
I don't remember that at all.
3/23/2010 12:02:09 PM
I remember thatBut your theory is stupid
3/23/2010 12:02:39 PM
never saw deep impact haha.. alright well then i'm wrong; thought there was something that happened with the tides...
3/23/2010 12:02:49 PM
3/23/2010 12:05:28 PM
there was an episode in season 1 where the tide was coming in. i think it might've been around the time when they were debating on staying at the beach or moving up to the caves. i doubt that'll be relevant ever again.
3/23/2010 12:34:26 PM
ah that must be what i'm thinking of; i didnt realize it was that far back. scratch my theory then
3/23/2010 12:35:57 PM
Can't wait for tonight's episode. Gonna be awesome.
3/23/2010 12:39:50 PM
was there something wrong with my sentence?
3/23/2010 1:26:34 PM
^ about you not remembering something that happened?
3/23/2010 1:33:06 PM
yes
3/23/2010 1:38:22 PM
oic
3/23/2010 1:57:50 PM
Wasn't insulting you, se7entythree. It was just funny to me the progression of grammatical correctness.
3/23/2010 2:32:02 PM
45 minutes til richard alpert
3/23/2010 8:17:36 PM
I missed the first five minutes and saw ben walking away from campfire...what happened? thx
3/23/2010 9:06:02 PM
lol, an episode about the cost of healthcare, how ironic
3/23/2010 9:13:10 PM
youre going to hell...may god have mercy on your soul?that doesnt add up
3/23/2010 9:16:33 PM
^^
3/23/2010 9:17:20 PM
I could only pick up about half of what Hurley was saying in Spanish.. didn't sound terribly important.
3/23/2010 9:17:25 PM
you'd think the black rock would've made it to the island before night time considering jacob and MiB saw it in the middle of the afternoon
3/23/2010 9:29:19 PM
^^ Can you post your translation of what you picked up?[Edited on March 23, 2010 at 9:41 PM. Reason : .]
3/23/2010 9:29:38 PM
^^that was obviously not the black rock that jacob and MIB saw
3/23/2010 9:30:43 PM
^yep, the first one was one of jacob's experiments or whatever, this one is MIBs attempt at finding a loophole.
3/23/2010 9:42:08 PM
i don't think it's fair to say "obviously" but ok
3/23/2010 9:42:43 PM
3/23/2010 9:49:00 PM
^ reasonable argument with what we've been given. some people are starting to sound like mambagrl in here
3/23/2010 9:51:18 PM
yeah, maybe MIB is just screwing with Jacob's plan
3/23/2010 9:53:19 PM
wow. great episode. probably the best so far.
3/23/2010 10:05:48 PM
