like i said, im doing other things and usually listening to the TV rather than watch it, so when you say they put stuff like "30 yrs later/earlier" im not seeing this on screen
3/26/2009 3:23:52 PM
so you definitely can't complain when people bust your balls for not knowing what is clearly drawn out for you.it's the internet.
3/26/2009 3:49:45 PM
yeah, but it was still obvious that the plane landed in 2008. off the top of my head:- Jack, Kate, Hugo, Sayid, who were in 1977, disappeared from the plane after a flash, which we had previously seen was an indication of time travel. it was reasonable to assume that they time travelled when there was the flash, but the other people didn't- the plane landed on a partially completed runway, which The Others were building in 2004 in S2- they made a hospital out of the abandoned Hydra station, which was still in use in the 70s- Frank and Sun went to the main island and arrived at the greeting center, which had long been abandoned and had pictures of the Darma crew throughout the 70s
who's complaining, im explaining

The only problem i had with the episode is that Sayid, natural born killer, assassin, etc. somehow neglected to ensure Ben was dead..

3/26/2009 4:47:24 PM
i suppose a bullet to the heart satisfies that question anywhere else but this island.
3/26/2009 4:52:03 PM
^^^I know Ben's not going to be dead for good, but it appeared that the bullet hole was straight through his heart, which would kinda be a no-brainer. I kinda assumed that b/c it was a kid, he probably didn't want to pump additional bullets into him or perform his chicken-neck-snap move on him. Also, even if we assume Ben actually is dead, shot through the heart, no pulse, dead as a doornail. Even if Sayid had shot the crap out of him and checked for vitals... All bets are off on the island, as we've seen obviously through Locke's resurrection. But yeah, I see where you're coming from. This could end up being a minor inconsistency issue or it could be a moot point depending upon how they handle it in the coming episodes.[Edited on March 26, 2009 at 4:58 PM. Reason : ^ and late, sorry. ]
3/26/2009 4:57:16 PM
i think the producers have a bit of a clue of what they are doing.in the last 4 seasons there haven't been any plot holes.the only inconsistency was the date of Charlotte birth which was changed because of casting a different actress.I'm Big Business and i approved this message.

So i understand how Ben would have prepared for Jack, Hugo, Sayid, Kate and Sayid, as he knew them when he was a kid in the 70s, and he knew they would return to the island later. but was about Julliet? I wonder what he thought when she shows up in ~2002?..... actually, as I write that - was Ben personally involved in recruiting Julliet to come be an obstetrician on the island? i wonder if he sought her out because she helped give birth to Ethan.
3/26/2009 8:22:00 PM
I could definitely see Juliet saving his life. That would definitely explain his schoolboy crush on her.Back in a Juliet flashback, when she came to the island, Goodwin's wife said something along the lines of "Of course Ben likes you, you look just like her." The "her" could totally turn out to be Juliet herself from the 70's.yes/no?
3/26/2009 8:32:16 PM
^that is exactly what i was about to type.i concur sir.
3/26/2009 9:02:56 PM
so he remembered the other oceanic 6 in detail, but only liked 'present' juliet because she looked like '30 years earlier' juliet whom you people are saying saved his life? For those of you whom are too retarded to know whats going on, Juliet arrived with the oceanic howevermanythefuck that ended up in the 70s and the story was they all arrived together.Ben would have no reason to suspect them being from different times namely juliet being a future hostile. The general thought for 'her' was that it was either annie or his mother. His mother had blonde hair, perhaps annie in the future dyed her hair blonde or something.in the podcast they hinted "would you kill teenage hitler if you had the chance? maybe failing to kill him turned him into hitler" though they often throw around the obvious during the podcasts when its typically different. We already know that Ben Hated the DI and wanted to be an other. I doubt Sayid attempting to kill him was sole enough reason for him to purge DI. Furthermore he likely didn't do it alone. Richard would've known that sayid wasn't an other he may have deduced that sayid was from the future considering at this point in time he's had the conversation with sawyer and realizes that there are people in DI and perhaps elsewhere (sayid) on the island who are neither DI or Hostilez.I'm Big Business and i approved this message./]
3/26/2009 9:30:07 PM
i was about to say that.... but then again, Ben didn't actually tell anyone that there were time-traveling crazy people from the future. So, to explain his crush on Julliet, he could just tell the other Others that she just looked like a woman who saved him when he was a kid, even though he knows that it's actually the same person
3/26/2009 9:32:36 PM
If i were juliet i wouldn't save the kid who killed my husband in the future.^thats possible, but i just don't see that being the case. I believe 'her' is either his mother or someone we haven't met yet.Theres a lot of little shit like this. Kudos if they can wrap all of this up by season 6.I'm Big Business and i approved this message.
3/26/2009 9:39:30 PM
i'm sure the writers will find some sort of motivation for juliet to save him. for him to die and not be resurrected or anything would be a total paradox.
3/26/2009 9:45:31 PM
I thought that Sayed looked pained when he more closely inpected the situation after he twisted Jin's neck around so hard. It could be interpreted that he thought he mortally wounded Jin and then shot young ben quickly in anguish. If his focus was really all on young ben, then he would have popped him one more to the dome-piece (yo)....
3/26/2009 11:51:21 PM
he didn't twist Jin's next. He did the crazy flip thing, then just a fast punch in the side of the face to knock him out. I took all the anguish he was showing to be a sign that he was contemplating what he was about to do to Ben. I think he knows Jin is OK. On that point, though.... why did Jin call Sawyer immediately? Couldn't he just have listened to Sayid and talked to Sawyer later? There was no need to broadcast it over the radio
3/26/2009 11:56:10 PM
the fact that people actually think Sayid mortally wounded Jin is absolutely beyond me. He flipped him over his shoulder, and Jin was still fine, then punched him in the face and knocked him out. I am 99.9% certain (not 100% because nothing is certain with Lost), that Jin is fine
3/27/2009 2:52:55 AM
If Sayid wanted to kill Jin, he would have broken his neck with his legs.
3/27/2009 2:57:16 AM
you guys know that juliet isn't the only doctor on the island.she is not a surgeon and there is a surgeon by the name of Jack Shepard.now, according to his records he is a janitor, but they also let juliet give birth to that bebby like the 2nd day she was there.I'm Big Business and i approved this message.
3/27/2009 3:09:51 AM
jack is going to refuse.
3/27/2009 6:11:25 AM
it honestly amazes me how dense some of you are. I would have thought at this point in the show only the smart diehard fans would be left. Anyone who even remotely thinks that jin is dead is a fucking moron. And as for Ben being dead? Only desmond can change things, whatever happened happened. The only thing that matters is the fact that he was shot by Sayid and how that changes him. We know it happened, we know Ben lives, what matters is the impact. It is all going to be a giant time loop created by the survivors and ben. On a side not i fucking love this season. The show is coming together and the writers are proving they had a plan.
3/27/2009 7:17:27 AM
risking a chance that i missed more on-screen wordsi thought juliet delivered Ethan 3 yrs after they got there
3/27/2009 8:25:46 AM
3/27/2009 8:32:13 AM
^seriously. Note that the baby is still a baby and not a three year old toddler.
3/27/2009 9:09:09 AM
3/27/2009 9:41:01 AM
well, technically he's right -- she's not a surgeon by trade. In fact, she wasn't even a clinical obstetrician (so likely a dook grad, har har) Every doctor has to go through surgical rotations, so they have at least a working knowledge of basic surgical procedures. ]]
3/27/2009 9:44:41 AM
yeah she was there for 3 years my b.still she was an auto mechanic at that point.I understand what you all are saying, but the phrasing of "because you look like her" just seem weird for me, for ben to attempt to reference her without letting other people know who she was. Furthermore, if ben had been researching these people who had already been to the island, would it be so farfecthed that he researched the person who saved his life and had to hide the fact that she was the person that he was recruiting?I'm Big Business and i approved this message./]
3/27/2009 10:40:51 AM
so that means she automatically forgot all of her medical training?or i'm not sure what you're trying to say there...
3/27/2009 10:42:36 AM
I'm saying, no one before that knew that she was a doctor and she had been there 3 years. No one knows that jack is a doctor. If i were sawyer i'd go to Jack first and tell him to admit that he was actually a surgeon. Maybe he'd refuse, but i'm not saying that they would forget their training, i'm saying that the DI would trust them to do the surgeryidk personally i don't see either one of them doing it by choice. if they made juliet do it i don't get why he'd have such an infatuation with her and then pretend that she wasn't the person that he was infatuated with. I mean the island is a weird place he could come up with some explanation. I'm Big Business and i approved this message./]
3/27/2009 10:49:35 AM
I'd like to point out though they i'm sure they have some idea that juliette has medical training. She didn't just deliver the baby, but performed a full c-section. At this point i'd go directly to juliette, because at least people have seen her perform and have gotten to know and trust her, rather than expose another lie and go through jack.
3/27/2009 11:25:00 AM
speaking of jobs that character's aren't trained for..... it felt pretty contrived making Kate a mechanic. they clearly only did that to 1) make her work in close quarters with Julliete, and 2) get her to wear a jump suit and rub grease all over her face
3/27/2009 11:34:17 AM
dont' forget the ass and tittyballs.
3/27/2009 11:38:58 AM
I didn't get that eitherAnd Juliet was the one who assigned Kate her job
3/27/2009 11:48:26 AM
i assume she did to keep an eye on her and away from Sawyer. didnt really seem like a big deal
3/27/2009 12:09:07 PM
Juliette is aligning her for the fuck-swap scenario.
3/27/2009 1:41:55 PM
^^That, and probably some unselfish motivation in there too. With Kate close, she can cover for her and watch her back while Kate adapts to DHARMA life.
