^ Ironic, isn't it?
8/5/2008 10:39:25 AM
IIRC I think we went to argentina before we landed Howell. Not saying thats the reason we were cut. I think Kelly pushed us down his list a long time ago.
8/5/2008 10:40:28 AM
when did he cut his list to just 3? he's still looking at Duke, Georgetown, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest. thought i don't even think Duke has offered him yet
8/5/2008 11:20:44 AM
duke has not offered him...you are correct on that also, i have not heard of him cutting to 3 ... i really dont care either way since we are not in the picture
8/5/2008 11:35:52 AM
more like we're not in the picture b/c we don't really care, amirite??
8/5/2008 12:27:21 PM
Exactly...We up and told Kelly and Wall to not even bother since we're going in other directions. Same with Oden a few years back. No room on our squad for guys like this.Favors better be careful too, or he'll be on the outside looking in next month this time.
8/5/2008 1:18:09 PM
good article on 2009 recruit Keith Dewittfor those that don't know, he had some off the court issues that sidelined his basketball carreer for a while, but he's got his life back together now and is playing at Charis Prep in Wilsonthis guy will be a 21/22 year old when he graduates from prep school, so physically he is pretty maturehttp://ncstate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=834045
8/5/2008 1:37:47 PM
ESPN shows he's already been offered. I wonder what he did? I have only seen that he has personal and legal problems, sounds like he needs a father figure like Sid to lead him straight.[Edited on August 5, 2008 at 1:49 PM. Reason : d]
8/5/2008 1:48:52 PM
i don't think we've offered him yet, because he will commit if we give him an offer
8/5/2008 1:59:02 PM
Well, ESPN says he has been offered but it's insider and I find it later. On a serious note, this kid was living on the streets with no financial support and is now in prep school. I just looked and this school is $7,000 per year. Can he receive financial support from someone besides his mom or other relatives? He's married so maybe his wife's family?
8/5/2008 2:03:32 PM
Garrius Adams get an offer. I've never seen him play, but I don't like his "areas for improvement"AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT Ballhandling Catch and Shoot Explosiveness
8/5/2008 2:06:39 PM
ehhh i think i will take his coaches word over ESPN
8/5/2008 2:07:02 PM
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: WORK ETHIC RAWR
8/5/2008 2:09:13 PM
^^^Why would we offer him? Seems like we have a PG, SG, and SF for the 2009 class already, right? It's obvious we need a big....and he doesn't seem to fit.
8/5/2008 2:23:24 PM
I think we have a PG(brown), SG/SF(wood), and PF(howell) committed. Adams would be another SG, which leads me to believe that we'll probably take five in this class. I'm sure the staff knows we need another big so if they want to use a scholarship on him, they have another waiting for a PF/C.
8/5/2008 2:38:56 PM
good Goda 6'10" guy at the three spot.that would be crazy.this is shaping up to be a lot bigger class size wise than I had ever imagined.

StateSouth CarolinaVirginia TechWake ForestEast CarolinaHigh PointSouth FloridaTulaneUCFFairfieldAdams could be a good pickup. He seems like a scorer that doesn't have much trouble getting to the lane and has a decent jump shot. I doubt he'd play right away. He could be good for driving to the lane and dishing if the defense collapses or putting up a floater/pull up jumper if the defense doesn't collapse. I really hope that us offering doesn't mean Johnny Thomas' injury is too severe for him to return. I was looking forward to seeing Thomas play, and I'd hate to see him never get to play in a college game. At least Bartosz got to play a minute or two.
8/5/2008 5:55:55 PM
hmm, unless he becomes an ace shooter, I don't see Adams playing too much. He looked like he had the vertical of a white boy in that video.
8/5/2008 8:18:54 PM
ok well, we offered him.
8/5/2008 8:20:54 PM
I think the fact that ACC schools like Miami, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest, as well as an SEC team in South Carolina, with their new coach Darrin Horn, are good signs. All three of Miami, VT, and WF were better than us last year, so I trust those coaches have eyes for talent, especially the kind of talent that is usually overlooked, but can become big contributors after two or so years.
8/5/2008 8:37:59 PM
Just watched Adams video. Maybe it was the number, or the fact they both look Ethopian, but damn I felt like I was watching Julius Hodge a few times there.
8/5/2008 9:57:39 PM
that 24 looks just like our numbers did when hodge was here. a little hilarious.
8/5/2008 10:08:42 PM
yeah especially at the very end. kid looks pretty solid though. at least as good as johnny thomas, who he would likely be replacing.
8/5/2008 11:50:02 PM
So with the rumors of Wall NOT going to Baylor, anyone think we still may be in play here?
8/6/2008 12:10:06 AM
^no^^ JT was super athletic
8/6/2008 1:37:49 AM
^^noalso, i don't want him.
8/6/2008 7:37:26 AM
8/6/2008 9:09:20 AM
^ yeah I might actually look forward to basketball if we land wall
8/6/2008 9:10:14 AM
isnt wall pretty much going to be a 1andDone like JJ?
8/6/2008 10:09:47 AM
^ yeah, and that's one year of a lorenzo brown/john wall backcourt. that's a year i'll take in a heartbeat.

[Edited on August 6, 2008 at 10:45 AM. Reason : wrong gd thread. wtf.]
8/6/2008 10:45:34 AM
hey, if it's true that Clifton is still going to Baylor and Wall isn't...I say Wall should take his time with his decision and I'd still take him in a heartbeat. He may have gotten his friend a job where he doesn't have to make a poor decision himself.
8/6/2008 11:02:25 AM
yeah JT was more athletic but adams has better ball handling and shooting it seems.
8/6/2008 11:08:06 AM
8/6/2008 11:36:57 AM
anybody have any new info on Wall? cough cough premium board shit cough cough
8/6/2008 9:32:11 PM
haven't seen much recently, other than rumors of no baylor or ok state. hell it could be memphis for all we know at this point.
8/6/2008 9:34:55 PM
yeah supposedly we still have a shot, along with Kansas and Memphis[Edited on August 6, 2008 at 9:42 PM. Reason : there is quite a bit of talk about him on some of the Kansas boards]
8/6/2008 9:39:55 PM
If we land Wall, you all know that Roy and Co. will have us on probation again and we will have to re-hire Les Robinson.
8/6/2008 11:27:55 PM
at least les could bet carolina more than once

We are on the radar for 2010 4* SF/SG Victor Oladipo who hails from DeMatha. Remember that Sid and Whitt both went to DeMatha, as well as asst. coach Pete Strickland. Rivals rates him as a 4* prospect and the 11th best SG nationally, and #52 overall. He has early offers from George Mason, SMU, and VCU.Hyattsville (MD) DeMathaAAU: Triple ThreatHt: 6-foot-4Wt: 180 lbsGPA: 3.2Schools InterestedBoston CollegeClemsonMarylandMassachusettsMiami (FL)N.C. we got some love from Rivals' Jerry Meyer regarding our 2009 recruiting class:http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=835388" I love the way NC State's class is shaping up.Lorenzo Brown could play both guard positions for the Wolfpack.Lorenzo Brown, the No. 37 prospect in the Rivals150, has tremendous natural talent as a point guard and quite a high ceiling. With size for the position, Brown has an instinct for the game and a feel for getting the ball to teammates. He is also a disruptive force on defense. The consistency on his outside jumper has room for improvement, but I feel he will shoot the ball well enough to keep the defense honest. That will allow him to play to his strengths of driving and distributing. Because of Brown's size, coach Sidney Lowe will have the luxury of playing him at both guard positions. I wouldn't be surprised to see him be one of the better combo guards in the ACC toward the end of his career.Richard Howell, the No. 59 prospect in the Rivals150, continues to grow on me the more I watch him. No, he isn't the most athletic or sexy player out there, but he simply gets it done. He really embodies the best of both worlds as a power forward. He is an aggressive rebounder with an advanced and physical low-post scoring game. He is also a face-up threat with his ability to put the ball on the floor, pass it and shoot it. Like Brown, Howell is also a two-position player. The four is his natural position, but in today's age of small ball, he has the strength to defend and rebound as a center. He also has the footwork and fakes to score down low as a five man.Scott Wood, who is ranked in the last slot of the Rivals150, is due for a jump in the rankings after some monster games in July. I like his length and his savvy as an all-around player. If he is shooting lights out like he did in July, then he is a guy who you need on the floor. If he can bulk his frame up some, he can play some three as well as the two. "[Edited on August 8, 2008 at 4:23 PM. Reason : .][Edited on August 8, 2008 at 4:27 PM. Reason : .]

Matt Wilson committed to UNC-Wilmington. For those that don't know about him, he is a teammate of Ryan Kelly at Ravenscroft, and is a 6-11 center who we were looking at. He was mainly a back up if we didn't land Favors. He wouldn't have contributed right away, but we could have potentially developed him. Not really a big loss and we never offered him even though he did visit us some.

some big words being thrown around on pp premium board. i wouldn't dare post it over here though!
