Yahoo!'s greedy ass gets burned today...DT gonna bail out crappy Sprint stockI think Yahoo is a good buy today when the stock plummets to 22 and someone (MSFT/GOOG) will come in with another buyout offer in the next couple of weeks/months[Edited on May 5, 2008 at 7:14 AM. Reason : Yahoo!]
5/5/2008 7:12:51 AM
its not greed. Yang does not want to be conquered.
5/5/2008 2:30:31 PM
May I have a Lexus too?
5/5/2008 2:33:05 PM
I too will have a Lexus.
5/5/2008 2:58:53 PM
Is this the line for a Lexus?
5/5/2008 3:19:48 PM
So the first stock I ever bought went up 35% today and was the top mover on the Nasdaq, wish I had bought more now. Now if I can just do that on every stock I buy from here on I should be golden lol.
5/5/2008 3:46:43 PM
you have to give birth to me and put up my shit for nearly 3 decades to get one of those
5/5/2008 3:50:20 PM
I'll often look up little stocks that I used to own. Hell, CLF is up 100% since I sold it 6 months ago. It's like running into an ex-gf only to see that she's gotten even hotter and is doing better than you are.
5/5/2008 3:52:49 PM
Except I bought mine friday afternoon I am new to this whole money making scheme thing.
5/5/2008 3:53:37 PM
what stock?
5/5/2008 8:01:16 PM
VNDA, I picked it up at 4.10 friday and sold it at 5.56 today, didnt catch it at its high point was hoping for 6 but when it started dropping off i went ahead and took my profits
5/5/2008 8:14:54 PM
Can't be sad about 35% in two days. That's an APR of eleventy billion
5/5/2008 9:20:45 PM
5/5/2008 9:26:39 PM

5/5/2008 10:03:54 PM
Sweet. I want some facebook and sql when they IPO.Do you know if I split my 401K contributions with fidelity between roth and regular will the contributions automatically stop when I hit 15500?

If a company's stock splits then shouldn't the value be cut in half as well?
5/6/2008 12:15:30 PM
No, it's still the same value. 1 share @ $100 = 2 shares @ $50.
5/6/2008 12:29:09 PM
I meant the cost of the stock. Why when I look at a stock their chart doesn't have a massive dip when it splits?
5/6/2008 1:04:56 PM
oh, probably because the chart is adjusted for splits.
5/6/2008 1:12:16 PM
5/6/2008 1:40:10 PM
K. I know it stopped it for my 401K last year, but wasn't sure if it was set up to do that when I split my contributions.
5/6/2008 1:46:21 PM
supposedly there is some big announcement tomorrow from the vp of cisco...something about bottoming out
5/6/2008 3:31:16 PM

Where's my Lexus, dickhead?
5/7/2008 2:56:54 AM
YOU'RE NOT MY MOTHER
5/7/2008 6:52:58 AM
Crap, I overlooked that qualifier.
5/7/2008 12:21:00 PM
I invested in some AGU today. Posted record profits Friday with target price bumped to $125.With all the ethanol hype and rising food prices i'm looking to $profit. Plus they are the only one of teh 4 big ag plays to offer a dividend (agu, pot, mos, mon)
5/7/2008 12:47:19 PM
Come on 401K, you can do it: Personal Rate of Return from 01/01/2008 to 05/06/2008 is -2.5%At least my 100% return on V makes up for it
5/7/2008 1:35:44 PM
so where's a good place to start a roth IRAi want like completely hands off management, as i know just enough about investing to make myself dangerous really though i just to want to set it up, and put money each month and ignore it otherwise.should i just go through my bank (wachovia), or my 401k bank (regions/morgan keegan), or somewhere else? i've got some money left over from college in a smithbarney account, should i just move it to a ira account?
5/7/2008 3:11:19 PM
Don't go through your bank. Get a Vanguard account or something.
5/7/2008 3:18:48 PM
^^vanguard, fidelity, franklin templeton are all pretty good choices. Try to find a Target Date fund close to the approximate date you'll retire. The fund managers adjust the asset allocation as the fund ages to make it appropriate for your risk tolerance.
5/7/2008 3:23:24 PM
VFIFX
5/7/2008 3:30:21 PM
^i'm in the fidelity equivalent
5/7/2008 4:52:09 PM
^I would make that one of many funds, not just that solely.
5/7/2008 5:00:18 PM
that's my only fund in my roth. it's a diversified fund of a handful of other fidelity funds
5/7/2008 5:02:28 PM
^^You can only do so much with 4K.
5/7/2008 5:05:08 PM
CROX surges in extended trading after raising 2nd quarter forecast.I still don't want any.
5/7/2008 5:36:12 PM
^^Agreed, but over the years you add more funds.
5/7/2008 7:43:49 PM
^^ yeah, CROX is like a really hot girl that you know has herpes.
5/7/2008 7:48:57 PM
HAHAgotta hate when that shit happensI've got a funny story but this isn't the thread for it
5/7/2008 8:23:19 PM
made a 90 on the series 7 without reading the book. Dont believe the hype i smoked a "six hour" test in two hours with no sweat off my sac and I know nothing about securities.Just for luck i decided to test my skills on some open market trading following my fresh performance.I sold 30 shares of IWN at $69.86 (closed at 68.22)I purchased 28 shares of OIL at $73.01 (closed at $74.03)I put $60 on Dwight Howard +33.5 points and rebounds (32 total, barely lost)I put $60 on Jameer Nelson +7.5 vs Chauncey Billups pts + assists. Chauncey scored 2 points before leaving with an injury 5 minutes into the game.I put $60 on Rashard Lewis -3.5 vs Tayshaun Prince. Rashard posted a career high 33 playoff points for the win.I put $200 on there not to be a bigger than 17.5 point lead in the Lakers-Jazz game. The Lakers closed the first up 15 and bearhugged the threshold for the next three quarters before the Jazz settled into a ~10 point loss.Summary: Professional licenses are okay for simpletons but you should really focus your attention on sports betting.[Edited on May 8, 2008 at 2:06 AM.
