congrats!!! I love that ring.. halo style is where it's at

Thanks, it's most like this one but a little different. You can't see any metal on the band except little prongs and the band diamonds a little bigger. [Edited on April 27, 2010 at 10:16 PM. Reason : .]

So how did you propose?
4/27/2010 10:19:44 PM
Where did you people go to get your ring appraised/insured?
5/2/2010 4:36:17 PM
diamonds direct gave me an appraisal to go along with the ring i boughti got an inland marine policy with farm bureau that's only $1 per year for every $100 of coverage

MattJM321that ring is beautiful! congrats!

Jumping back to the last page, my ring is Moissanite and is amazing. It doesn't look costumey--people don't know it's not a diamond unless I tell them--but if you get it in the right lighting, it fills up with prisms. I also don't have to deal with guilt over my husband spending too much money on it, or over small children in Africa suffering so I can wear a piece of compressed carbon on my finger. (Although conflict-free diamonds avoid the latter problem as well.)I wouldn't blow it off without checking it out for yourself first. Everyone I know that's gotten it loves it, and the customer service I've received from the site we purchased from (http://www.fromthesky.com) has been amazing. I had to send it off not long after I got it because the setting was a little wonky, but they took care of it with no problem and quickly, too!

It's official - http://www.allisonfowlerphotography.com/Events/Kirk-Liz/12443642_uoE2C#890948440You'll have to go to picture 43 to get an up-close of the ring.

Got engaged this past Wednesday.
6/6/2010 12:21:54 PM
i don't really understand engagement photo sessions. are you going out there and faking it after the real thing has already happened? it seems kinda dumb to me.today is our first anniversary btw
6/6/2010 12:30:47 PM
^ it looks like he had someone hide out and capture the actual engagement so its not a set upcongrats kirk!!!! the ring is BOMB.. its like my dream ring, i love love love that style!!ps what was with the chicken take out menu??
6/6/2010 2:00:16 PM
NCSUWolfy is correct. I have a friend that's a photographer that I was scheming with, she helped pick out the spot we would go to and everything. My gf and I were already planning to take a picnic so it wasn't out of the ordinary and then my friend hid-out and got pictures of the whole thing so we can share with friends and family that want to see.We went to Price's Chicken Coop in Charlotte to get take-out and the photographer wanted to get pictures of everything from the picnic.
6/6/2010 2:06:46 PM
I wasn't really meaning him specifically. LOTS of people do them and someare obviously not candid shots.
6/6/2010 2:20:28 PM
you're right and those are awk. but wadheads are real and very sweet
6/6/2010 2:25:47 PM
ahhhh that ring is gorgeous!! congrats!! we're having an engagement session but I'm not getting any fake proposing shots... kinda takes away from the moment when it really happened ya know?
6/6/2010 2:47:37 PM
6/6/2010 3:21:07 PM
no, i completely understand the engagement photo for the newspaper. we did that, but it was just a normal pic of him kinda standing half behind me hugging me. i'm talking about the ones where the couple is walking along the beach, then there's a shot of their toes in the water, then he's on 1 knee, she pretends to be surprised, etc etc... they're reenacting the whole thing. just seems pretty lame & cheesy imo.
6/6/2010 10:08:24 PM
Ah I misunderstood then. Other than the link for the photos above, which was said he had a photog hidden, I've never seen an e-session where a couple acted out the proposal
6/6/2010 10:27:44 PM
Damn this thread got preachy
6/6/2010 10:50:36 PM
here are the ones just after a quick search where I would be like "...wtf"but honestly I don't know how I would bring it up that I didn't like a ring.. I would feel bad
6/7/2010 8:37:49 AM
ugly engagement rings really only depend on the person imo.like gaudy rings do not bother me at all (like the onewolfpackgrrr posted)and i kinda like the second one that samwise posted. i don'l like this one at all:but i also am not a fan of yellow gold.
6/7/2010 2:40:59 PM
Yeah, ya'll are right... It turns out that I can't just close my eyes and point at one and it be attractive.I stand corrected.

About all this Diamond's Direct mumbo jumbo....Personally, if you are not willing to take your time and be patient at a diamond store on one of the biggest purchases of your life thus far, perhaps you are not ready to be making said purchase. We went last Saturday to get my fiance sized and to look at wedding bands for me and we waited approx 30 minutes to see "our guy" and he explained he was helping another couple and would we mind coming back for an appointment on Tuesday. When we came back for our appointment, we were given undivided attention and help. Go to Diamond's Direct, ask for Richard Posey. PROFIT. You might have to wait awhile to see him, or set up an appointment and come back. He is so nice and I got an amazing ring that I love. He helped my fiance and spent time working with him. You guys seem to forget that the reason they are busy is not because they are in the back room fingering their bellybuttons...it's because they are helping other customers who are there making a big purchase, JUST LIKE YOU.Also, as for this:

stumbled into the "so this is probably going to wind up with us getting married huh?" talk over the weekend (aka DTR Part Deux). learned that she would rather us buy a nice boat together than her get a $$$$ ring that she isnt even really all that into in the first place, and by doing so further solidified my belief that im probably doing the right thing here when we do finally get around to ring shopping/etc. but i still have atleast a year before im ready to go down that road.
6/7/2010 4:50:56 PM
^ thats cool about the boat and all.. but you might wanna run it by her again in a year just to be sure. girls can be like that.
6/7/2010 7:44:41 PM
*cough, cough* the new J/111's are about to go on sale...
6/7/2010 8:24:05 PM
all of our rings
6/7/2010 8:52:40 PM
Congrats Kirk! I guess you were the person who confessed in the confession thread that you were proposing to your gf soon
6/7/2010 9:49:00 PM
haha, no not me. I guess I should have used the opportunity to confess but I can't take credit.
6/7/2010 9:53:18 PM
YESSSSSSSSSSSStheres still hope for the rest of us oh p.s. congrats! i thought the park pictures were soooo freaking cute. great idea and execution![Edited on June 7, 2010 at 9:57 PM. Reason : .]

just lie to them then. they do it, why can't you?

^^I was commenting on them being BUSY.........I didn't say anything about them being rude. If they were rude to you, allow me to repeat:

About to jump into this arena....I actually have my grandmother's engagement ring. It's very classic and simple with a gorgeous round rock, with two baguettes on each side, with a small round stone at the end of each baguette. What are the ladies thoughts on being presented with an old, but beautiful ring?
6/8/2010 4:48:51 PM
Does it fit your gf's style? I took the stone off my grandmother's ring and got it set in something I knew my gf would really love.
6/8/2010 4:49:50 PM
^ i used my fiancée's mom's diamond and had it set in a new, more modern setting...depends on what you get, but it doesn't have to be very expensive
6/8/2010 4:52:06 PM
6/8/2010 4:54:32 PM
6/8/2010 5:32:38 PM
^that ring is effing gorgeous.
6/8/2010 6:06:29 PM
I'd say that you should probably reset the diamonds in your grandmother's ring, even if you like the setting the way it is now and think your fiancee would dig its style... something about wearing a dead (presumably, since you didn't say otherwise) woman's ring is a little bit creepy to me, though the sentiment of it being your grandmother's is sweetthis is completely unrelated, but the more I think about engagement rings, the less I like the idea of that amount of money going to waste on my finger when we could use it for so many other things
6/8/2010 6:32:20 PM
here is a link to my diamond band.http://www.tycoonjewels.com/product91.htmlno we didn't pay that much. But Tycoon is great. swoon. And I will wear it by itself since it is too big to wear with anything else.also this isn't my ring, as mine has over 2cts of diamonds.[Edited on June 8, 2010 at 6:46 PM. Reason : dia.]
