5/20/2011 11:22:23 AM
Just saw that Tyler Harris is a 4* according to ESPN.http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/78121
5/20/2011 11:29:20 AM
Nice to have players going up once they sign with state instead of down like usual
5/20/2011 12:06:56 PM
lol
5/20/2011 12:40:35 PM
According to twitter, graham supposedly had 47 points and 11 3s in some game last night. And Alex Johnson will be making his decision today (and he gave Hodge a heads-up tweet.)
5/22/2011 11:36:47 AM
Alex Johnson is coming
5/22/2011 12:55:01 PM
word
5/22/2011 12:58:38 PM
i dont know much about the guy, except he's a point guard and i assume he will have to sit this next season
5/22/2011 1:01:56 PM
Lol I will be joining the #wolfpack[Edited on May 22, 2011 at 1:05 PM. Reason : apparently he doesn't have to sit out.]
5/22/2011 1:04:08 PM
^^pretty sure he'll be a grad student, so he's eligible immediately
5/22/2011 1:05:17 PM
cool
5/22/2011 1:07:11 PM
he's Canadian, but i can look past that. also he shot 37% from 3 at Cal State Bakersfield. i don't know how much of an offensive facilitator he is, but a warm body to spell Zo is fine by me.
5/22/2011 1:10:33 PM
yep, we really needed him. 3 years of experience, can play immediately.#3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QH9QGbJn6as&feature=related

5/22/2011 1:13:36 PM
it's a fact
5/22/2011 1:16:22 PM
Hey Oh! Smartass.
5/22/2011 1:20:26 PM
i meant it as a compliment. but in context it looks like an insult with the Canadian comment.
5/22/2011 1:23:17 PM
Good post, then.
5/22/2011 1:24:26 PM
5/22/2011 1:38:54 PM
cool get.

Awesome awesome get for Gottfried, we get a 3 year starter who can create his own shot and handle the ball. If he doesn't work out we aren't stuck with a scholarship in the future. With the slim talent pool available for this coming class, this is a perfect fit for us and will bridge the gap til the 2012 class comes in.Gottfried is having an amazing offseason
5/22/2011 3:04:05 PM
i agree. Gottfried is not wasting any time putting his stamp on the program.i like the way he does things so far, as vague as that sounds. the real test will be when he coaches. i am anticipating seeing his style after watching that atrocity we've had to see the past 5 years. if he runs a full court press within the first 5 minutes of a game (hell, if he ever runs a press period), i will be impressed.
5/22/2011 3:11:02 PM
5/22/2011 5:00:54 PM
i seem to remember lowe running the press a few times this year, and it worked, surprisinglybut we didn't do it very much.
5/22/2011 8:15:01 PM
Cool so now we have 11 true scholarship players.I'm guessing we look something like this:1-Brown/Johnson2-CJW/Raymond3-Wood/Harris/de Thaey4-Leslie/Painter/de Thaey/Harris/Howell5-Howell/Vandenburg/Painter[Edited on May 22, 2011 at 9:44 PM. Reason : Howell big enough to start at 5?]
5/22/2011 9:43:28 PM
in college ball he should be
5/22/2011 9:47:43 PM
I don't know how much we press with this year's roster.
5/22/2011 11:35:02 PM
you also left brown off the two which is his natural (college) position
5/23/2011 1:23:18 AM
5/23/2011 8:17:07 AM
I am hoping that Brown can turn into Jarret Jack this season. Alex Johnson can come in to give him some rest.
5/23/2011 9:31:41 AM
I think Johnson could be more than just a backup. I wouldn't be surprised to see our crunch time lineup have both him and Brown at the guard spots, with Wood or CJW at the three depending on if we need offense or defense.
5/23/2011 9:44:27 AM
I would not expect to see Brown at the point for long, as mentioned, that is not his natural position and if this Johnson kid can come in and be the point, which I would expect given that is his natural position and his experience, that is better for us. We needed 2 ball handlers, we now have 2, but that doesn't mean we have to play one or the other, now we just aren't fucked if all we had was Brown and he got hurt.
5/23/2011 9:53:59 AM
lorenzo would argue that his natural is PG...i've heard him say multiple times that he prefers to be a distributor of the ball.[Edited on May 23, 2011 at 9:57 AM. Reason : asdf]
5/23/2011 9:57:04 AM
and Wood would rather shoot 20 threes a gameDoesn't matter what he wants. Matters what coach wants. Unlike the previous regime.
5/23/2011 9:59:29 AM
i don't think you can put johnson on the court for significant minutes until he proves he can do it. yeah, he started at some shit school in a shit conference, that doesn't mean he can be an effective ACC PG. a few minutes to give Brown a breather, sure, but i'm not ready to put him in for much. trying to find his game logs, looks like he didn't do a whole hell of a lot against the tougher teams they faced.
5/23/2011 10:08:14 AM
I'd be okay with Johnson taking over eventually. Hopefully he can go ahead and move to NC this summer and start working out with the team. Maybe even play in the Pro/Am tourney.

5/23/2011 10:25:10 AM
Personally, I think Brown looked much more comfortable at PG than 2G last year. He sure looked like a more natural PG than Harrow or Javi. Maybe it's been said, but is CJL at the 4 a definite? Seems like with Vandy coming on strong (somewhat) at the end of the year, we could go to a big lineup at times.BrownWoodLeslieHowellVandy
5/23/2011 10:28:52 AM
I think positions in CBB matter very little. The key is too have the best five players on the floor, with the only real requirements being at least one guy who can handle the ball and one guy who can defend the paint. Everything else is based on matchups. Watch the NBA playoffs if you don't think the archaic notion of five separate positions is going by the wayside. You have point guards, wings and bigs now. Thats it.
