15 points and 8 rebounds a game for a basketball academy in the Canary Islands.I'm sure he was playing against some stiff competition.
5/19/2011 12:14:21 AM
so i assume we are getting the alex johnson kid? and this euro guy isnt rated yet to bump our class?

5/19/2011 2:36:02 AM
even if he was ranked a top50 player, i still don't think it'd be enough to get our 2011 class in the top25. 2012 is where it's at.

I think Hodge works better as a friend to the program. What he could say, do and most importantly tweet would be severely limited if he worked with the team in any official capacity.
5/19/2011 10:59:47 AM
5/19/2011 11:27:54 AM
True, but he may want to start his career, and start getting paid for kissing recruit's asses. IBTHEALREADYISGETTINGPAID.]
5/19/2011 11:30:49 AM
I can never tell if Slave Famous is being serious.
5/19/2011 11:31:45 AM
I think he's being serious. Hodge has been known to play pick up games with recruits.
5/19/2011 11:42:14 AM
My tell is that I'll generally avoid profanity when I'm trying to make a valid point. And I'm completely serious that I think Hodge isn't a good fit for the staff right now. Maybe in a few years when he matures a bit, but he still seems too buddy buddy with players at this point that I'm not sure he'd be able to have any sense of control over them.
5/19/2011 11:45:22 AM
I'd just be worried he would tweet some CJ Leslie "anti-gay" type shit (or worse) and bring on some bad publicity to the team.I love Hodge, but that guy is unpredictable.
5/19/2011 11:46:54 AM
I'd like him to be on our staff just so he can inject some emotion and intensity into some of our players
5/19/2011 11:47:52 AM
Hodge is 27, close to most of us. I wouldn't want most of you in positions of authority, and he's no different.
5/19/2011 11:49:12 AM
well he has been in the league, was selected in the first round of the draft and played in the NCAA tourney. So he's got plenty of good experiences that he can teach the players, and since he's young, he can relate to them.I'm not saying I want him on our staff, but I'm not saying I dont want him on it either.
5/19/2011 11:54:39 AM
Head of the summer camp ... that's what he needs to be "on staff" to do.Just merge his camp into the NCSU bball camp
5/19/2011 11:58:23 AM
He's in the perfect position now. Talk to the players, joke around, play ball with them, then step aside and let the real coaches run the practices and game prep.I love Julius Hodge, but less than two years ago he was kicked out of a game for stomping on the court and generally acting like a spoiled whine baby brat. He's far from being ready to lead anyone.
5/19/2011 11:58:53 AM
5/19/2011 12:00:21 PM
Because comparing a back to back National Runner Up coach to someone who regularly tweets in lol speak is a valid comparison.
5/19/2011 12:05:02 PM
The point was age not limiting coaching ability. Maturity is a big part of it too, but that was not the point. ]
5/19/2011 12:06:52 PM
Brad Stevens is an outlier. The age argument holds true for the vast majority of the population and I stand by it.
5/19/2011 12:07:38 PM
While I may not agree with what you say, I'll defend to the death your right to do it.
5/19/2011 12:09:21 PM
Yep, I think he's in the perfect position now for the team.

@rpurvis_44 Rodney PurvisHad great convo with Coach K last night. It's humbling to be on the phone and having a conversation with such a great coach/person. Bless'n2 minutes ago via Twitter for iPhone Favorite Retweet Reply]

^ I wonder if K dropped any of his frequent in game F bombs during the conversation? Also SF is dead on correct about Hodge and the team. The role he serves now is gold and cannot be replaced. Hiring him on staff would be a mistake. One day though, I see him as a top flight recruiter somewhere.[Edited on May 19, 2011 at 12:59 PM. Reason : V Yeah I am sure Hodge wants a job, but it would be a mistake for Gott to hire him.]
5/19/2011 12:52:21 PM
^^ Scratch him off the list...
5/19/2011 12:55:48 PM
^^Every thought he might actually want a job?

^^^ I took it the same way. I'd prob say the same if I talked to K, also.I still feel pretty good about Purvis. He just talked to K on the phone.
5/19/2011 2:06:26 PM
Yall know how this goes: It's probably best to just assume that Purvis probably won't come here. Then if he decides on the Wolfpack... holy shit!!!But yeah, so what if he talked to K on the phone and tweeted about it? Big deal.
5/19/2011 2:31:45 PM
5/19/2011 2:38:06 PM
He's what 17 and just talked to a living coaching legend. Hell I'm 27 and I'd post about talking to Coach K on my FB status (don't have twitter).
5/19/2011 2:40:55 PM
^Forgot you were a major prospect whose top two schools seem to be Duke and NC State.
5/19/2011 2:42:10 PM
i thought Hodge still wanted to play ball for a few more years
5/19/2011 3:20:18 PM
again, people need to stop reading so much into Tweets from a kid
5/19/2011 3:29:47 PM
Why don't we just have a "WTF are people saying on twitter" thread?
5/19/2011 4:26:03 PM
It should be titled"It must be true (and important), I read it on Twitter"
5/19/2011 4:32:36 PM
5/19/2011 4:46:02 PM
I follow youand btw, Lost in Translation sucks

5/19/2011 7:56:14 PM
a guy i went to HS with was a walk-on for Duke's bball teamhe said the generally reserved coach you see on the sideline during games transforms into a maniacal curse monger during practice, to the point where he breaks you down. must be the Army influence.i guess it matters because some players can't handle that
5/19/2011 8:05:46 PM
again, why does it matter?
