I dont know if the pink is much different, but I also have some red volcanic that is super salty and I think it makes grilled corn tastes fabulous. I cant have pepper and most of the premade seasonings so I have been experimenting with salts and fresh herbs. The red volcanic is my favorite.

You hush. I cant explain the difference, other than it is saltier and it is different. It is probably all in my head, but I like it. I think the salts from different locations are supposed to have different minerals in them.

Biggest difference is texture. Table salt is fine granules that dissolve easily. Kosher salt and sea salt are coarser, do not dissolve as easily, and as such is noticed more when you bite into it. Sea salt will retain some of the flavor and color of the water they are harvested from. However, you lose the uniqueness of any of those flavors when you cook it, and it just tastes like regular old sea salt.

i wonder why i think the red salt makes grilled corn tastes different then. I sprinkle the salt on my potatoes after i cook them, so it hasn't broken down when I eat it, but i put the salt on the corn with olive oil and wrap them in foil and grill it, so it definitely gets cooked. guess it is the placebo effect. i don't care, i still like the novelty of it and it isn't super expensive. i've been using the salt i got for 3.50 (per container 1 red, 1 pink) for almost 2 months and it is nowhere near gone.
