I like the short hair pics that bmel posted! I've been thinking of going short, but there's no way I'm going to style my hair in the morning. (I ride my bike to work most days and it's just a hassle!)And I have a feeling none of those cuts would look good without a blow dry ... any suggestions on easy short hair??

i feel like unless you have naturally straight hairor hair for a froor hair that is totally resistant to the weather (ie humidity and moisture)short hair is just hard. it ends up looking like a mushroom. even people with naturally curly hair usually have to do some styling to get it to be tame curly instead of wild mushroom curlysomething like this could be easy though. have you ever "scrunched" your hair? you just get some product (there is this john frieda product i like, also a bedhead catwalk product i like) and apply to damp hair and scrunch then it ends up looking messy/cute. it looks REALLY good if you scrunch with a diffuser while blow drying, but since you don't want to blow dry there are products that work fairly well just air drying (they just give a little texture). but i don't know if you can do that with the navy gig or not. but i could see you with a hairstyle like this:i also feel like this could potentially be a cute short hair style that is good for air drying - if you add some texture (via a mousse or whatever):[Edited on July 13, 2011 at 5:39 PM. bmel: I still like my Elisha Cuthbert suggestion tartsquid: I think you could definitely pull of a platinum blonde!! The only thing I would be worried about is the maintenance of such an extreme color change

Can't decide if I should get this from NY&C

I know this has been discussed before (at least I think so), but where do you Raleigh ladies buy fabric? I have a small foot stool that I've had for years, but have started using it while nursing. I want to find something cheery, maybe kinda boyish, and fun to use in the nursery it's such a small piece that $ isn't an issue. I only need like 1 yard. Thanks!

Jo Anns Fabric was my choice

I think short hair can be really easy. I have a pretty thick hair with a medium wave (lots of cowlicks) and will never go back. I don't use product, either. As long as you have strong bone structure you can rock it. Nerdgirl, you've got the face for it.With long hair, you either have to "do" it, or it goes in a ponytail, and what fun is that? Short in the back, longer on the top gives you plenty of easy styling options and if you leave some wispys around the front you avoid it looking too masculine or "mom-cut" like.Check out how Emma Watson's been wearing her hair lately- it is AMAZING.

I've been so torn about whether or not to keep these shoes. I think they look fab, but they kinda pinch in the toes and are loose on the heel (damn weird narrow heels I have). They're Betsy Johnson and good quality leather so I'm hoping the toes would stretch and mold to my foot a bit.
7/16/2011 5:02:08 PM
sometimes you just gotta put with the pain & awkwardness of cute shoes for a few hours. i like them!
7/16/2011 5:08:19 PM

What do y'all budget per week or month for clothes?I used to budget $100 per month for all(undies, socks, cute stuffs), but lately I've been getting so many hand-me-downs from friends and fam that I haven't reached that.Note: I work in IT, with a primarily male dorm workforce, so not much fashion there at all. Work is all jeans and graphic tees.
7/16/2011 11:34:37 PM
Lately I only buy things in two situations:1. I find an incredibly good deal2. It is a necessary purchaseI don't sit and budget (though I feel like I should at least keep track, but at year end my credit card sends me a whole bunch of pie charts and tables summarizing my purchase history) ]
7/16/2011 11:36:33 PM
yea i pretty much only buy on sale. actually not pretty much. i only buy on sale now.and i don't budget really either. i have 2 savings accts and a checking acct and i have a certain amount of $$$ i don't go below in any of my accounts. and i don't transfer money from savings to checking unless it is a life or death emergency (like hospital bill or something). so yeah.i'd say prob around $100 - $150. but only buying on sale stretches that way out. i have all my bills set up on automatic draft (except for the ones i have to pay my dad for like my piece of the family cell plan and car insurance). and then i have my accounts set up to where i deposit my paycheck in and every other monday it automatically transfers the bulk of it into my savings accounts. so i don't really think about it. i save money way better that way. it used to be hard for me to ignore my savings accounts when i'd look at my bank statement. but now i ONLY look at checking and i'm like, this is the only money i have so...if i buy a dress i will be eating pb&j for a week, or not going out on friday night, or whatever the trade off is. not that we are talking about savings but in the past year i have gotten so much better at saving and budgeting money so i'm kinda proud of myself ALSO my new thing is to "shop" online and put things in my cart but not check out. it sometimes helps calm the urge to shop without breaking the bank. like the jcrew stuff i posted awhile back i never pulled the trigger on. i DID buy that ish from nordstrom ton because the stuff was dirt cheap. like $9 shirts!!![Edited on July 16, 2011 at 11:58 PM. I have been spending a lot of money on groupons, living social and clothing lately - I was really good for about a month and now I am kinda bad again.I got this dress last week at TJ Maxx. It's a Calvin Klein and was on clearance for $32.00. I really like it.
