Bought 3 maxi dresses today. I've been trying them on and not buying them, they just didn't fit right. Finally decided I was going to find one that looked good, and after a while of trying on what I thought was my size, I decided to go down a size and they look so much better on me.

a few pages back, jewelry storage was discussed...

i have 2 hanging thingys that have individual clear zippered pockets. the zipper goes across 3 pockets at a time so it's not annoying

mine is filled with any jewelry i currently wear, including my nicer stuff. it's super handy because i have it organized in a way that makes sense to me so when i'm getting dressed, i can pull out my 2 jewelry hangers and "shop" nearly 100 pieces of assorted earrings, bracelets, rings and necklaces

i have a different thing on my dresser to hang delicate necklaces on that would tangle in the hanger thing. i just keep the 2 hangers in my closet near my belt rack.

FYI, Gap has an extra 40% off clearance. I got some really cute khakis for 9 dollars. It was very fortuitous timing because my work pants just got a hole in them today because they were so threadbare. They were my awesome corduroys that I got five years ago, along with a few other pairs but now I'm down to just gray and white. Corduroys are basically the best thing ever, but it's hard to find them with flared bottoms.

I will have to check out that sale! I need some new khakis. Is it online (do I need a code??) or in stores only? I also really love that you used the word fortuitous.

speaking of not liking colors... has anyone experimented with dying their own clothes?

i got a little bleach splatter on a brand new pair of really cute navy blue shorts and i was wondering if dying them navy would cover up the tiny pink splatters

I'm not sure if the Gap sale is online or not. A quick google search just turned up old results. I was gonna check slickdeals but my internet is slow as hell right now.

i sewed patches over black bleach stains and i've also used a sharpie with moderate success, and also tried creative bleaching with a couple items that were damaged badly and difficult colors to match. with dark colors it's difficult to match the stains to the area that gets re-dyed, so the spots can still be visible after re-dying. you can maximize your results by bleaching the entire garment first/using a "dye remover" available with the dyes.

Often, I find that the time and money to satisfaction ratio of re-dying isn't terribly high. If they were cheap maybe you just have some new laundry shorts. If you really want to dye them, make sure you follow these steps prevent damaging something else in your house with dye. clean the entire area of anything that could be conceivably damaged by dye and wear terrible clothes. I highly recommend doing the stovetop method and not risk damaging your washer/subsequent loads of clothes with the dye. from your comments in the roommate thread i assume you will have no problem with keeping it neat but make sure you clean the dye immediately from any surface that gets drippy. even things like the stove enamel and countertops/floor can be permanently damaged by the dye. VENTILATE the area and don't mix the dye with bleach at any time.

for the most part, i've switched to ammonia as a laundry and surface sterilizer. It doesn't ruin stuff accidentally like bleach, but I don't have white formica countertops either.

So this isn't the clearest pic, but I'm worried about a new mole I noticed on my back

In the pic it looks like a freckle... but it's raised, and dark with red around the edges. It also feels like a scab - but it's not. Bah...

do you guys where colored denim

i really want some colored denim (or they don't even have to be real denim they could potentially be jegging or a more soft cotton material)

but i want them to be skinny cut

i don't know where to find them on the cheap. i know designers make them and they have them at anthropologie (*SWOON*) but i need like some < $70 pants here. the anthropologie are $158

but let me show you them. WANT:

so have you guys seen colored denim other places? i've been trying to watch the hautelook/ruelala/ideeli sales and i saw some on there one day but like....jeans are something that unless they are certain brands that i need to try on. i know my size in a couple of brands, but otherwise, i need to try them on. i think FABRIK had colored denim awhile back. maybe i'll check there.

i feel like Target had some last fall maybe? i know i've seen them around. you might also want to check out H&M and forever 21. cheap places but you can probably find what you want for your price range.

Sam, when do you go to the doctor about your gluten testing? how is that all coming along?

Colored denim has been around for a while, so I know its trickled down to the lower price points. Check jcrew sale (or even their outlet for yummy prices) because I know they had some fun skinny jeans in colors a year or 2 ago.

I like colored denim (SO RACIST) though. I would love to wear some myself since I wear all kinds of colorful tights in the fall/winter.

Lets go on a hunt

i figured it would have trickled down too

jcrew is an excellent idea.

i have checked: H&M, forever21 (they do have colored jorts though that i might snag) and nordstrom (well i only checked the juniors section i figured that was a good bet but nooo), gap

i know i saw some at fabrik a while ago they are probs gone now

we def need to go on a hunt. OR i need to win the lottery so i can spend all my monies at anthropologie

OH PS you guys might have seen this on facebook but through midnight tonight if you enter "FACEBOOK" @ checkout on freepeople, you get an extra 10% OFF your total on SALE items. i know it isn't huge but they actually have some decent things in the sale items. i personally only shop the $30 and under (i love that you can sort like that). i tend to neglect accessories when i shop so i went on FP.com and got a bracelet and a necklace from the sale section less 10% (it ain't much, but it is something!!!).

i want to dye my hair

but not dramatically

and am considering attempting out of a box (ahhhh haven't done this in years). if i do it i'm prob using natural instincts because it is ammonia free and washes out in like 3 weeks. way less scary that way.

i'm scared because i just want an auburnish color. i already have medium to dark brown hair (as people know). so i don't want my hair to come out burgundy or super duper and dark red. i just want it to be a reddish brown. if that makes any sense.

my hair now:

what i don't want and will cry if it happens:

hair colors i like:

i don't know if that last emma stone one (or any of them really) is even possible with my hair from a box. i'm pretty positive it isn't because that is lighter than mine. i don't really know what to do. there are basically 3 "auburn" colors: rosewood, cinaberry and spiced tea (from dark to light)

are you supposed to buy 1 shade lighter so that it doesn't darken it so much? because i don't really wanna go darker just...redder?! if that is the case then i'd prob go with spiced tea. that is the lightest but i am just scared.
i don't want my hair to end up orange. or super red. though i'd prefer orange over super red i think. i kinda like that copper color that is in right now.

i probably won't end up doing it. back in the day i'd never be scared i'd just get bored and dye my hair a different color on the reg. but now i'm a fraidy cat

BUT do any of you frequent box hair dyers have any advice suggestions comments concerns etc? anyone? anyone?

edit: i meant dramatically not drastically. change is fine but overdramatic red or orange or burgundy is NOT fine

It seems like there'd be a product that just tints your hair in the direction you'd like it to go, but I guess if that existed we'd probably know about it. I've only done boxed dye a couple times (possibly about to be +1) and my favorite was a shade of auburn. But my hair is a fairly light brown to start with, so I really have no helpful advice.

I just got a cut, and the lady asked if I'd had bangs or my breakage was just that bad. I haven't had bangs However she did ask if I lived in Morrisville and said the water there is super hard and is really harsh on hair, and after she mentioned that I had a kinda duh moment that made me realize I started asking "why is my hair all of a sudden breaking so much???" shortly after I moved here. Damn hard water.

The one in the middle of the colors you like is similar to the shade I have now. I didn't buy it knowing it would show up with some red, but it has a slight tinge of red in it, enough that you can see it under light, but don't normally notice it. I love it, and it's nice. Either way, I recommend the brand. It leaves my hair feeling awesome and soft.
Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Color Creme #53 (Medium Golden Brown). Your hair appears to normally be a bit darker than mine, so you may want to move a shade or so in that direction, but I've been quite happy with it.

I've had this color since January, and I love it so much more than my natural boring brown.

In fact, the only complaint it has on the website is that it has a reddish tint, and no one was expecting it! I wasn't either, but ended up loving it. Just subtle enough that it's still natural looking.

i know i am just wondering if i can do it from a box

because i am NOT going to a salon because that is not what i need to spend hundreds of dollars on

but i don't know. i guess i can try and see. maybe i'll try after work tom. it obviously won't be that light since my hair is dark and that is like impossible to pull off w/o professional help haha. i do LOVE that color though. i like a more coppery brown instead of red red like that one picture i'm scared of looking like.

also there are like 3 things on the jcrew factory website i want but i can only choose one. and i can't decide which one though i am leaning toward the skirt (because skirts can always go with tights in winter):

ok narrowed down to 2 (the third was a sweatshirt shirt thing and that is just stupid. cute, but stupid, but would look really cute with dark skinny jeans and sandals and then boots in the fall ahhhh):

this skirt. which also comes in pink and grey (don't really care for the grey) but i really like the blue the best i think (think worn at your natural/empire waist with a cute t or tank tucked in - now with gladiators in the fall with minnetonka fringe boots <3):

PLAID SHIRT (zomg they have like 5 really cute plaid shirts i want them all but esp this one):

why do i love clothes so much? i just love them so hard.

i want to score a pair of super strappy gladiators on the cheap. sales are big right now so i am cruisin for the deals. but mostly i just like to put things in my cart and then never check out. then its like shopping but not. cause i never spend the $ but get the joy of the process

i'm just going to picture bomb because these i just saw on dsw.com. still $50 on clearance (LAME) but omg they kind of give me a shoegasm (purple is no longer avail thank goodness...but the other colors are still cute too)

ew. apparently minnetonka got on board with the gladiator train. i think they need to stick with mocs and boots:
