Mm, I think you're hating on the orange too much. One of my favorite color schemes.I'm thinking about a citrus colored inspired wedding, honestly. I love bright colors.[Edited on June 26, 2011 at 6:18 PM. Reason : Fail tags.]

Paging piddlebugShe and Biofreak70 are having an orange and cobalt blue wedding. Just picked up my orange dress the other week men are wearing khaki pants, linen shirts, and I believe orange ties.
6/26/2011 6:20:51 PM
See but that has yellows, whites, etc in it to balance with the orange. What she's talking about doing is monochromatic orange.^^^ Oh I'll make sure to take plenty [Edited on June 26, 2011 at 6:21 PM. Reason : s]
6/26/2011 6:21:35 PM
she's going to have a difficult time matching flowers to dresses unless she's getting the dyed.
6/26/2011 6:23:04 PM
wait wait waiti thought you said aqua too?or i s the bridal party gonna be pretty much just orange?
6/26/2011 6:23:24 PM
Yeah the bridal party is going to be only orange. And so far all of the decor she has shown me is orange. So I'm wondering where the aqua is coming in ^^^ Right now she's planning on using wooden flowers instead of real flowers. I'm guessing those can be made whatever color she wants.[Edited on June 26, 2011 at 6:25 PM. Reason : s]
6/26/2011 6:24:52 PM
very...interesting (ive used that word like 4 times already lol)
6/26/2011 6:25:28 PM
I'm hoping since she's in the beginning stages of planning the orange explosion is just a phase and she's going to start adding some more colors to the palette. Guess we'll find out next summer haha.
6/26/2011 6:26:26 PM
oh you still have plenty of time! i was fairly certain the summer before ours that the girls would be wearing corsets
6/26/2011 6:34:59 PM
the sewing thread is dead and i dont feel like waiting for it to be bumped to post this....im reviving the thread to post a skirt i made this afternoonit went together so quickly!! i will definitely be making another one, this time in a bright fun printfor anyone who cares, it was simplicity 2258also, i finished the crazy dress i've been making foreveri have a few more finishing things to do on it before i post it. mine is a dark purple in a sateen stretch material. it turned out very nice considering how hard it was to make!!my next project is this simple dressall you need is a tank, some lace, some elastic and fabrichere is the fabric i picked out for it, it's silkyhere is an up closei'm so excited!!is anyone else working on projects?
6/26/2011 6:36:05 PM
Ack you just reminded me I need to finish hemming my dress and sewing the notions onto it! Well, I'll be unemployed starting next week so I'll have plenty of time then
6/26/2011 6:37:32 PM
That looks great! I'm really impressed. I tried to sew a quilt once, and was not at all successful.
6/26/2011 6:38:15 PM
smcain, the colors I picked (Eric didn't really give a what about that part ) are citrus inspired!! granny smith apple green + lemon yellow(and touches of orange... but not like the outside of an orange, think more of the inside of an orange.. lighter, but not peach)and even though I say ^ those shades, we have a lot of different hues of each color.. I am a great believer of coordinating and not exactly matching
6/26/2011 6:38:22 PM
LOVE this, love the fabric. I used some to reupholster a lil bench I had. I can't seem to find the print here b/c i'd love to get my hands on some.

6/26/2011 7:06:05 PM
I am wearing burnt orange in my bff's wedding. I'm excited about the orange. Longhorn fans.
6/26/2011 7:07:55 PM
diva just do it!!make sure you get a good deal though. sewing machines aren't cheap and TRUST ME, you want a few bells & whistles on your machine or you just end up banging you head on the table non stopi have a singer talent that i got on an amazon black friday deal for $120 shippedright now joanns has 40% off 1 full price item coupons in the store (i think you can sign up to get their emails too) and this weekend for july 4th weekend they have another coupon for 10% off total purchaseso as long as the machine you wanted wasn't already on some sort of sale, you could get it for 50% off! of course do your research and make sure it's still a good deal but might be a good way to get a machine at a decent price and get started!
6/26/2011 8:02:23 PM
kind of related....do any of those fabric stores have college themed fabrics? specifically ncsu. i want to make curtains for my new classroom.
6/26/2011 8:21:48 PM
tea length is my favorite length of all time
6/26/2011 8:24:46 PM
I found ncsu fabric for cheap online and used it for my tree skirt. Just google ncsu fabric.
6/26/2011 8:24:50 PM
I have no idea where to put this awesomeness, but the bf bought me a food saver advanced today and I LOVE it!
6/26/2011 9:42:52 PM
What is that?
6/26/2011 9:59:56 PM
vacuum sealer, I know, I shouldn't be so excited, but it rocks. I can buy meat in bulk or on sale and vacuum seal it in to individual portions, or in 2 person meal sized portions, whatever I want, and then freeze it.
6/26/2011 10:10:57 PM
Oh girl I grew up sewing! I just need to get back into it. I used to be really good at it in high school, and I should have just taken my mom's machine when I left home.I'll get one this year!
6/26/2011 10:20:00 PM
I have a very lame sewing machine.. I wanna get back into it but I need something a bit more heavy-duty
6/26/2011 10:20:43 PM
i love my food saver. pretty much a must for someone who hunts and/or fishes.
6/26/2011 10:21:46 PM
6/26/2011 10:43:02 PM
i want a vacuum sealer!!
6/26/2011 10:49:54 PM
you can't get all the air out, with a vacuum sealer stuff can stay good in the freezer for a super long time and not get freezer burnt.
6/26/2011 11:10:40 PM
since i posted the other stuff im going to go ahead and post this in here too...some of you may remember this disaster of a dress that ended up looking like a hospital gown....i ended up cutting out the pattern for the b&w skirt i posted above to make a seersucker versionholy cow it's super cute!! but major bummer.... i went a little too wild with the seam allowances and it doesn't fit. looks like i have to give it away to a skinnier friend but seriously, i made this tonight after i posted the other stuff. it's that quick & easy. SO highly recommended!since i cut this out of a dress that i already made, i had to get creative so there are seams in the front & back of this that the first one doesn't have. no big deal but it was an extra step.[Edited on June 26, 2011 at 11:34 PM. Reason : is my pic working??]
6/26/2011 11:15:22 PM
i need one of these food savers
6/26/2011 11:15:48 PM
2^cute!he got me this bad boyAnd I used it tonight and I'm so excited about being able to go to the store and stock up on sale meat and not have it go bad or get freezer burned before I can use it.

I know I am super late on this topic, but going back to the orange bridesmaid dresses: As LK said, Brett and I are having the girls in orange and the guys in white linen shirts and khakis. To keep a sort of uniform look I chose a designer and color, which I went with Alfred Angelo, and had them just choose their own dresses in the tangelo color. I have 6 bridesmaids and they have all chosen different dresses and they all chose styles that suited them each individually, which is what I was going for. Our alternate color is cobalt and so my sister, who is the matron of honor, is wearing an Alfred Angelo dress in cobalt. I'm having the girls wear silver flip-flops (since we're going to be on the beach) and silver jewelry. I have bought Blue hair flowers for the girls and as far as the bouquets I think we are just combining blue, orange and white. Although I am up to suggestions there too!

6/27/2011 12:12:24 AM
your main colors may be orange and blue but I think you're really limiting yourself with regards to flowers...this can be an opportunity to pull in some fun fall colors and keep your wedding from looking as if everyone are Florida alumas seen in those other pics the gals posted, lots of colors will fit in with the flowers....also linen in October?
6/27/2011 12:12:28 AM
Making a list for Joanns now...

So, Divababy, can you suggest some ideas for flowers? Or even better can you send me pics of ideas? Flowers are one thing I know nothing about. I'll also take suggestions from others as well. Honestly, I don't care that much about flowers myself. I have been trusting my mom and sister on that. And yes, linen in October. The wedding is 10/07 and on the beach. And it's what Brett wanted. I think it'll look fine.
6/27/2011 10:22:39 AM
Has anybody else ever jacked up their spin pins like this?My hair is quite fine, and there isn't that much of it, so I'm a bit concerned as to how i managed to do this. not hard to fix, just curious as to whether or not you ladies had done it too.
6/27/2011 10:23:34 AM
I don't have enough hair for spin pins piddle...I'll fiddle around a little later today when I get some of this work done
6/27/2011 10:33:33 AM
6/27/2011 10:37:15 AM

6/27/2011 10:37:21 AM

Piddle...I'm just searching, but here's some fun thingsvibrant trio of garden roses, cymbidium orchids and gloriosa lilies is combined with orange pin cushions, fern curls and billy ballsFor you - classic white bridal bouquet goes airy and delicate—a more contemporary look. Wonderful for an outdoor wedding, the almost monochromatic composition includes white garden roses, anemones, hellebores touched with pale green, Fritillaria verticillata, grape hyacinths, viburnum and jasmine.pretty...but maybe not as BIG lol - Exquisite in its asymmetry, this bouquet, composed of white and orange seasonal roses and darker orange Chinese lanterns, takes its shape from the lanterns, which dangle gracefully like charms from a bracelet.Hey TITSBittersweet berries, rose hips and crab apples add a whimsical movement to this bouquet of roses and asclepiasFlowers you can choose in the fallRoses are always a classic wedding flower. They come in a wide variety of colors that are suitable to any season. However, if you are looking for something that is less traditional, you may consider some of these magnificent fall flowers. When purchasing them in season they are quite affordable and allow for fuller bouquets at a reasonable price.Asters are the perfect daisy like filler flower. They come in several soft shades ranging from white, to pinks and lavenders. They even come in a bold yellow which would compliment any fall themed wedding.Chrysanthemums are the perfect fall flower. The blossoms come in tiny button size or large pom pom blooms. The white chrysanthemum represents truth while the red symbolized love, both essential parts in a marriage. Mums are a wonderful compliment to Gerbera daisies. They are incredibly affordable and they come in a wide range of colors with the exception of blue. Colors range from warm oranges to deep russet reds, they even come in green. They lend themselves well to fall themed weddings.Zinnias are the perfect flower for a bright robust fall bouquet. Zinnias come in bright pinks, red, orange and yellow. They are a colorful alternative to the classic white bridal bouquet.Gerbera daisies come in a variety of vibrant, cheerful colors and are a popular choice for modern wedding flowers.
