CassTheSassi got the remington wand from targetOH MY GOSH A+++ would recommend. wayyyy easier than a straightener or curling iron (IMO) and i haven't even really put effort into it yet. i just got home and half assed tried it out on a few strands. it really works. $22. totally affordable.thank you soooooo much for the recommendation. i might try to wear my hair wavy to work tomorrow or out tomorrow night if so i will post pics. i also bought some hairspray because my hair tends to get flat after a few hours :/ so we will see if the hairspray helps!!! any other recommendations on holding products that don't make your hair crunchy? i got this really light "mist" hair spray that isn't supposed to be crunchy. we will see!!

I don't blame you for being pissed at all, kadwackle. My friend burst out laughing when the dude originally asked me because I had told her it happened before but I don't think she really believed me And she looks really young for her age so she understood where I was coming from. Then the girl taking tickets asked where my parents were and Tanya lost it.. I think that girl was a little embarrassed because at that point I wasn't very friendly about it and said, "I AM 24 YEARS OLD." Then I was expecting the damn manager in front of the theater to check my ID, but I think he heard me loudly say to Tanya, "I told you I get carded for rated R movies!" so he just looked away. But with the bar thing, a few weekends ago when I had that bachelorette party, these guys behind us in line for a bar kept giving me shit because they said I looked like I was in high school and didn't believe my license was real (because it was out of state and I looked so young). I even showed them the hologram! Then the bouncer used that fancy scanning thing for IDs and I was all HAH TAKE THATAnywho, I guess we'll appreciate it when we're 30... right? On a different note, I got my pics back and I wanted to share this shot (cropped, even though it was modest)Man, I feel for models. I had to do that thing where you open your eyes after counting to 3 (because of direct sunlight) - it hurt.
6/26/2011 1:39:00 PM
OH MY GOSH THAT IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! your hair and makeup look aaaaaaamazingi really do love your hair color. screw the haters
6/26/2011 1:43:00 PM

6/26/2011 1:48:37 PM
holyyyyyy crappppppyou look stunning
6/26/2011 1:50:06 PM
Okay Sam, that is amazing. Who did you use? Ballpark price (if you don't mind sharing), and did you have someone do your makeup? If so, was that part of the package price, or did you pay someone else?
6/26/2011 2:06:21 PM
thanks (again) ladiesI used Evoke, and it was part of our wedding package... but I believe she charges $250 for a session? That includes 3 looks and I believe it includes a 40 picture album (and her albums are high quality.. I have examples of our e-pics book). The hair and make-up is an extra charge of $195 from Elizabeth Tolley (she is amazing). Then you have to pay for the location -- that price greatly varies depending on how many women are having picture taken and where it's at. We did our pics at the Sutherland and another girl was there, too, so we only paid less than $100 iirc (and we were there for like 6 hours).I know that sounds pretty pricey, but I can honestly say it was worth every penny. Plus, it was kinda nice to do something like this because Eric and I just don't see each other very often now since I'm in school... and it was something I wanted to do for myself as well. After working hard to feel healthier and better about myself, it was nice to see pictures demonstrating that Here's another example of the make-up I had (for my last outfit change)(my head looks giant because of how my hair was.. promise )(this one was one of my favorites )If you have any other questions I could give you April's contact info and it's probably on her website, too: http://www.evokenc.com
6/26/2011 2:22:25 PM
Thank you!
6/26/2011 2:33:13 PM
oh and here's Elizabeth's website if you want examples of her workhttp://www.ncmakeupartist.com/I didn't give any direction for her, really... all I said was "pin-up-ish for the 2nd look and pretty crazy/intense for the 3rd look"
6/26/2011 2:34:43 PM
Awesome makeup! Very pretty The pinup hair is awesome too.
6/26/2011 2:38:23 PM
WOW!!!! Those pictures are seriously so awesome. I'd love to do something like that. I think I'd be super nervous though. Your pictures came out soooo amazing though!!!!!!! You look great in all of them, I love it!!!! Has the boo seen them yet?? Was the album a gift for him?
6/26/2011 2:56:33 PM
you guys are making me blush I was way nervous. Which is way very, very few of them are actually "sexy." And even then, it happened by accident. For example, one of my pictures is me doing the pose Kristin Wiig did in Bridesmaids (where she was imitating the penis). But April was really awesome about making you feel comfortable and making sure there weren't bad angles and such.Yeah, he has - it's not a wedding gift, really... since I know he won't read this thread, I'm learning a song to play for him at the rehearsal dinner
6/26/2011 4:56:08 PM
i would like to go ahead and echo that those pics are freaking AMAZING.i also ADORE victory curls
6/26/2011 5:39:05 PM
guh so apparently my friend is now deciding she wants her bridesmaids to wear bright orange dresses for her wedding. Seriously? None of her bridesmaids look good in orange. And it would be orange dresses with orange flowers. Overkill
6/26/2011 5:42:35 PM
^ This is exactly why I just asked my bridesmaids to pick a green, tea length dress. I am not about to try to pick a shade of green that looks good on so many different skin tones (fair, tan, olive, etc)... bump that.[Edited on June 26, 2011 at 5:45 PM. Reason : and that's also why I promised them I would not make them wear orange or yellow]
6/26/2011 5:45:10 PM
A. you are probably 100% rightbut2. if done correctly (and i mean it would take a lot of attention to detail and being VERY involved) it could look really badass.[Edited on June 26, 2011 at 5:46 PM. Reason : sdfdsfsd][Edited on June 26, 2011 at 5:48 PM. Reason : and oh yeah...with that color go ahead and add $$$$ in there too (to look badass)]
6/26/2011 5:46:11 PM
Seriously. That's what I did too. I said, "Pick a red or turquoise dress. I don't really care the shade or shape." Funnily they all chose red for some reason. That's what really kills me. This girl was one of my bridesmaids and she went on about how awesome it was I let them find the best dress for them rather than giving them a dress directive, but then she does just that Last I talked to her this was the dress she was leaning towards:http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Short-Cotton-Dress-with-Soutache-Detailing-F13695_Bridal-Party-Bridesmaids-Shop-By-ColorBlech. And imagine that with orange bouquets. You won't even be able to see the flowers.
6/26/2011 5:49:01 PM
i am very curious as to how that turns out (let us know pretty please) because while i see it being a disaster i look at these: and think...hey this could be interesting (mind you i am pretty much one of the most open minded wedding people out there )
6/26/2011 5:53:45 PM
the thing about orange is that is just doesn't look that great on everyone... I actually think it's one of those colors that very few people can pull off (meaning when it's not just an accent and is a large portion of an outfit)
6/26/2011 5:59:35 PM
Alright, as a bridesmaid that was terrified of wearing a floor length "Burnt Sienna" dress (read really orange and my husband was a groomsman in a brown tux) it is not as bad as it sounds. The overall effect is actually quite nice. She had deep orange calla lillies, and the effect was overall wonderful. While it was not the color scheme I would have picked, and orange is not my color at all, it all came together nicely. I can't think of anyone the orange actually looked *bad* on either, and we were a pretty diverse group of shapes, sizes and shades.
6/26/2011 6:00:29 PM
Yeah, but burnt sienna is a little different than tangerine
6/26/2011 6:01:17 PM
^^^oh i agree!i'm just very curious how its gonna be pulled together. i believe (and i could be very wrong) that it can be done very classily and beautifully. but its gonna take a whoooooole lot more than just "here wear this dress and carry these orange lilies"^^thats what im thinking.....this could be kinda cool looking.not at all what i would want, but cool nonetheless. [Edited on June 26, 2011 at 6:02 PM. Reason : sdfdsfds]
6/26/2011 6:02:01 PM
Definitely agreed--but this was VERY orange (not a deep color like the name sounds), but not tangerine. All I'm saying is, it may not be as bad as it sounds. And lots of brides don't want to do red or blue, because so many people do use variations on those shades.Maybe she has a vision! [Edited on June 26, 2011 at 6:04 PM. Reason : v ]
6/26/2011 6:02:45 PM
^me and you is speaking the same language
6/26/2011 6:03:28 PM
I think I'd actually be okay with burnt sienna. It has enough brown in it to counteract the orange.
